Polls were very much in Biden's favor and he barely hung on thank-gawd, as his results were much worse -- and in Every state -- than what the expert combination of polls predicted. 2022 mid-term polls are handled differently than Pres polls, but Dems outdid the polls for mid-terms. However, Roe V Wade got overturned less than 4 months prior so that was still hot on the iron. This time that doesn't carry Nearly as much weight. We've gotten used to that + Trump in legal trouble. We're begrudgingly used it and by now, they don't motivate to vote nearly as much.

Early voting is Democrat heavy. It always has been. This is not "Headlines" Trump's polling is extremely tight to Kamala Harris. If we want to look historically? Based on biases and outcomes for 2016 and 2020 outcomes? Harris' lead is well within the margin of consistent underestimation of Donald Trump. Trump has ALWAYS outperformed the polls. There is not a question to this. Could we have learned? Yes, because we now know that the problem lies with Trump. A not insignificant portion of people who vote for Trump literally do not vote for anyone else, and are also well known for not answering polls. Realistically, we know that there is a polling error this time around. It’s incredibly unlikely that there is no polling error, at the very least. In which direction? No one’s sure. We’ll have to wait to find out about that one. But we have to take the polls for what they’re worth at the moment, and at the moment, they’re predicting a Trump win. But there are still three week until the election, there is still time to turn this around. I think if we fight, we can win the race, but we can’t just hand wave the polls away. They are, at the very least, somewhat representative of the general vibe in the country, and we need to take that for what it’s worth

In the last 14 days there has only been 1 democrat leaning pollster do a major poll, 33 independent pollsters and 26 republican pollsters have done polls. The average is skewed right now.

And some pollster considered independent aren't. TIPP had a RV Kamala +4 in Pennsylvania (which is the same result than Times/Sienna, a high-rated pollster). Yet their LV result was Trump +1. Out of the 78 Philly voters that said they were very likely to vote, they kept only 12. For the most populated city in the state where the voters are overwhelmingly democrats, there were 12 people in a +/- 800 sample. And that is not to speak about SoCal, a "pollster" with no one trained in quantitative methods that was founded by a highschooler.

David I appreciate the commentary. I can only offer an observational comment. I live in a farming area of California, very conservative. During the 2020 elections, the Trump signs were prevalently displayed in neighborhoods I traveled regularly. I do not see those signs this cycle. Leading me to believe,many of the percieved Trump supporters are silently indicating they do not support him. And, will (hopefully), silently vote for Harris/Walz without telling their neighbors.And avoiding the confrontations with the neighbors.

@@99vargass no aggregate is accounting for all the red-skewed polls-they've released more than sixty in the past few weeks and some of them fly under the radar like the Pennsylvania one that excluded the entirety of Philly amongst other things. I'm not attached to what the polls say. My issue is Pakman's deliberate misdirection, because he is clearly doing this on purpose. He almost exclusively uses/references RCP for these videos, doesn't scrutinize the data, labels it as "empirical", and will only cite another source if it specifically agrees with what he says like last week's video where he cited 538's average ONCE for Georgia because it agreed with RCP on specifically that state.

Thank you for your honest and unflinching analysis. I am an 80 year old American who spent his secondary school years in the south at a largely segregated high school (remember the Norfolk 17?), and then spent four years in the U S Army during the Vietnamese War where I worked at NATO HQ and later in the Pentagon. I have seen American culture from the top and the bottom. Having spent my working life abroad, it distresses me beyond what I can say to see, from the distance of age and another country, that the deep-seated racism I knew in my youth remains the dominant cultural force in America. The victory of the Trump project will signal, if it takes place, the utter moral failure of the ideal of the American values of liberty and freedom. Those ideals will have to be seen for what they are - fool’s charters designed to conceal a debased and deeply ignorant society.

According to Pew Research April 2024 report: " 49% of registered voters are Democrats or lean to the Democratic Party, and a nearly identical share - 48% - are Republicans or lean to the Republican Party." That's the problem -- they've been over-favorable for Dems VS actualities, in the past 8 years in presidential elections. Biden was very much ahead in the polls too, and also there his votes were far less in said states and was much closer for Biden than what was predicted. Pollsters very well may have shifted to counter this... but you can't bank on it too much. Also, newly registered voters on the Dem side VS Repub side... favors the Republicans much better than 4 years ago. And those aren't polls. Yikes.
