Empires of the Undergrowth Gameplay Overview:
Empires of the Undergrowth is a real time strategy game based around the world of ants. It features underground tunneling, nest construction and fast-paced battles with insects, arachnids and other ant colonies. We have taken inspiration from classics Dungeon Keeper and Sim Ant, as well as elements of Starcraft 2's popular 'Desert Strike' arcade game for colony vs colony combat
The game’s theme is taken directly from nature, and offers a fresh alternative to the usual sci-fi, fantasy and real-war settings for this genre. In the single-player campaign, the player takes control of a unique colony of DNA-harvesting, nomadic ants embarking on a great journey; they must set up temporary nests, gather food, and defeat neighbouring colonies. The story is narrated from the perspective of a documentary film maker studying the ants, adding a light touch of humour.

Blitz no matter what if their egg was laid by the queen then they are in a colony no matter how far they venture from the Ant hill. Go watch +AntsCanada he does videos and he is an ant keeper. I watch him and you learn so much. But seriously, its called a colony no matter how far the ants are from the hill

Dogey Gaming no no no, he means the sub-group. It's like bees, if you are ONLY referring to a specific group and not the entire hive, that group is called a swarm, but if you refer to the entire group, INCLUDING those not present, then you are talking about a hive. Basically, hive -> swarm -> bee. Blitz wants to know what colony -> ???? -> ant

The common terms are, a colony of ants, an army of just the hostile/warrior ants, a swarm of flying/elate ants, and a nest of ants.

Blitz if You hold down the alt key, you can see the health of your units, but also the enemies. Control key brings up some sort of Star icon... NOT sure about that :)!

Blitz I saw on the other empires of the undergrowth that you talked about a trail that ants left behind that other ants can smell. It's called a pharamone trail and if you want more info about it comment on one of my videos. :)

A group of ants that leave the nest to do thier various duties are referred to as an army.

Blitz, anteggs grow faster for every antegg that is next to it. So you want to build big groups of hatchingrooms. You also want some short connections from your food storages to hatchingrooms so the ants dont always have to go to the Queen first. You might also want 2 groups for your army in case if you get attacked by 2 directions or want to surround your enemy. You dont want your Worker Ants to collect food or attack while your fighter ants are attacking. Since normally your tactic is to have an ongoing stream of small ants that can only be build if your worker ants move the eggs to the hatchingrooms. Worker ants are ineffective fighters and will cost you more food then they will give you if you attack with them. You also want 15-20 worker ants and ~30 black ants. That should be enough. And you dont need so much stoaringplace for your food :D You spread them out so much that the worker ants have to walk through your whole nest to get to the food and then the same way back.

Any group of ants from 10 - 100000000000000000000000000000000 is considered a colony wether underground or over ground, wether having a queen or not it's still a colony.
