Hi Everyone,
In this video I go through the full installation of the Red Arc Tow-Pro Elite version 3 into my 2018 VW Amarok V6. Including where to mount the controller in your Amarok, where to run the wiring and best location for a clean and neat install of the knob controller inside the cabin.
I did not use the Red Arc plug and play wiring harness and instead chose the DIY route. Hope this video helps you to install this brake controller to your vehicle.

Hey love the vid. I’m from Melbourne and I need some help with the wiring at the trailer plug end. The Amarok that I’m working on comes with a 13 pin round plug fitted to the car. I can’t seem to find a pin/terminal to wire the service brakes, so I’ve been told To convert it from a 13 pin to a 7 flat pin for Aus standard. Would you have an IG account that I could get I touch with you? Cheers mate

Great install. Looks much better than the install dealer did for me. Do you know by any chance which fuses the trailer plug uses on fuse box? Had a short in tow pro brake sense wire and since replaced that faulty wire but now trailer brake lights wont work and in turn of cause brakes dont work

Thank mate, appreciate the kind words. Have a look on the fuse panel, I think it has 5 fuses for trailer detection....three 25amps and two 5amps. I'd check those out first. 🤞

Hi Graig, Great video very informative. One question why did you use a 3amp blocking diode and not bigger. My caravan brake lights globes are 21watts each so would draw 3.5 amps total. So would I need a bigger diode?

Hi Chyka, thanks for the nice feedback. I used 3amp because my VW towbar had diodes Installed in the 7pin trailer plug which were 3amp. I purchased the diode from Jaycar and they agreed a 3amp would suffice for the application. However, you can run a 5amp if you like, no harm in that. 👍

I connected it through the trailer plug, its the rear brake light signal. Don't forget the 3amp diode on the vehicle side. Stops the 12v current returning back into the vehicle when you hit the override switch. 👍
