Andre Hogg It was actually built by the British army to use as a fort during WWII. After the war it was abandoned until a man bought it in the 1960s (62 I think). He named himself prince (so his wife could be a princess like she always wanted. It was romantic~) and declared the fort the micronation of Sealand. They're only recognised as an official country on and off by other nations, and actually had a little war with the German mafia. The original prince died recently, but his family still takes care of the country. You can still buy pieces of land, passports, merch, and royal titles from their website, in fact one of my best friends is now a baroness. So before you call Hetalia fans annoying, just remember that it actually does inspire younger people to get interested in actual history and to learn about cool things you don't hear about every day. Also, keep in mind, that at least the people who run Sealand's official facebook now know about Hetalia and their character in it and think it's hilarious. Also that the guy who runs the micronation of Wy is actually a big fan of Hetalia and has painted fan art of their character and also of Himaruya(the guy who makes Hetalia).
Francis Bonnefoy 24601 I do know the history of it dumbass and I also know the fort nearly sank when it was launched I don't care what the occupant of the fort thinks it's mod property paid with British taxpayers money if he paid for it he should not be exempt from British law or taxis and he fired warning shots at British vessel he is lucky enough of his allowance to exist
So technically speaking, if someone went over to sealand and started killing them, they cant call the police or do anything about it? So would actually be an invasion
Russell Kostal yeah i guess so, to be quite honest i think it would be quite interesting to see how it would have played out if the guy had succeeded. yeah it would have been a dick move of him, but quite intreguingto see it unfold
+Lewis Dove That's why there is a jail well below the sea level, in one of the towers.... It was invaded in '78, one of the invaders we're held in the jail until he paid off his fine....
That's possible right now, of course, but historically the pillars had multiple levels were the locations of equipment and ammo storage, energy generation, and crew berthing. Post-military, they held Roy and Joan's housing and server racks for when Havenco existed. A modicum of research will reveal pictures of all these.
theyre not filled with water theres actualy 7 levels inside each tower with living quarters, also they used to store ammunition in them during the war, there are pontoons below the towers that are filled with water and anchored to the seabed thats hat keeps it in position
The inside of the towers, well first they both have water I'm not sure how much, but they're not FILLED with water, they have some living quarters, and I think the technology for HavenCo. Used to be in there too
You are agreeing with me. I was pointing out there's nothing in there, because someone else posted a comment that implied there was living space or other neat stuff inside the columns, and there isn't.
Titanic ship and aircraft carier is bigger than this does it mean we can make ship an country but i think sealand is also a ship a warship that sink XD
Boring. If you're going to skate or do anything on an "island" in the ocean-at least end it with a skater flying off-into the water. What they did there could be and is done in any child's park
