So let's get the viewership up on anything Aoe 4 related and hope for a bigger (and deserved) higher prize pool next tournament so there is an even bigger incitement for people to both play and watch this great game. MarineLord is without a doubt such a great player but it's not fair in a tournament format to have a guaranteed place in the finals. A guaranteed invite if more games were played on LAN? Yes, without a doubt but not like this. Without name dropping I think we can all agree that some players are in great form right now and all viable to reach the finals the good old fashioned way.
Technically putting ML into top 8 would be fair, but it is not fair NOW anymore since he was basically promised to get 10K. Taking that from him now would make RedBull look very stupid. Unfortunately they messed it up but I highly doubt they'd change it unless ML himself would say it is fine by himself.
I don't think anyone deserves a seat at the grand final by default. In fact, I don't think the last year's winner deserve an automatic seat in the finals. I think everyone should fight for their places at the grand final. That way you only have the most deserving players in the game and the grand finals will have only the best of the best for that season. Imagine a hypthetical scenario if Marinelord feels that getting the second place prize momey is enough and just decides to show up to the tournament and then make a couple of vills and then just sit back and chill (of course I'm not saying that he will do such a thing, but hypthetically speaking). This will ruin the tournament for the future players. I think this is unfair to all of the other players of the game.
No. The game just revived the franchise 11 years ago with HD Edition and the Forgotten mod eventually becoming the first expansion in 13 years. It only grew since then with more DLCs and 2019's Definitive Edition. AoE 2 is the reason why you can play AoE 4 today, nuff said :P What's more obscure is AoE 1 still being popular and being carried by Vietnam alone. They indeed do still play Age 1 on the old CD Version.

Red Bull Wololo is a tournament series hosted by - you guessed it - Red Bull. The first five editions were exclusively hosted on AoE 2. For RBW: Legacy in 2022, it was joined by AoE 1 and 4.
Its awesome there will be a torunament but to do this boxing style where marinelord has the belt and the rest has to play quali-stage-final rounds to meet him. that doesnt fit with thos kind of e-sport. Put Marinelord in the groupstage as former champion. Done.

It does though? Let's take the champions league in football. The normal means of qualification is through the league standings. If you however manage to win it (or the lower tier Europa League) you are automatically qualified regardless of your league position. ML won the last edition of Wololo and he is thus invited into the "tournament". It is just unfortunate that the "tournament" is only the finals so that he is immediately invited into the finals...

if there is money being paid for positions then there should be no auto fill to any of those spots. this tells me that he is gone to them and said, im only coming if you pay me so they gave him a auto 2nd spot
Microsoft is pulling the plug of AOE4 and keep milking AOE2 like GTA5, its easier to release new AOE2 dlc new civs with slightly altered unit stats than releasing AOE4 dlc new civs with entirely new game mechanics
Would be true if the newest civs of AoE 2 wouldn't also try to add new features that - just like in AoE 4 - are borrowed from other games in the series or are new. Examples? - Flemish Revolution is like the Ragnarok God Power from AoM or the Revolution feature from AoE 3 - Mule Carts work like Norse Ox Carts. They're mobile drop off points - Gurjaras ability to garrison sheep into mills to generate food comes from the Animal Shelter from Galactic Battlegrounds that runs on the same engine - Shrivamsha Rider can absorb arrow fire for a short amount of time, iirc kinda like Protoss in Starcraft - You have units ignoring armor (Leitis, Composite Bowman) - Lithuanians can buff unit stats by garrisoning Relics In case of AoE 4: - OOTD's idea of expensive but strong units originates from AoM's Atlanteans (+ Prelates from HRE already work like Pharaohs) - The Sultans Tower of the Ayyubids is like the Egyptian Siege Ram from AoM - The entire Landmark system is a mixture between the minor god choice (AoM) and Asian wonders (AoE 3) - The Vizier System of the Ottomans is a lite version of AoE 3's Home City. You earn XP that you can spend on a "shipment" I don't see Microsoft pulling the plug for Age 4 tho but tbh, it's quite difficult to cater for a game where most of its players joined from other games (SC, WC, AoM, AoE 3) vs a game that grew organically over time after being revived via a mod (AoE 2).

Aoe4 had the best selling dlc but was it the most profitable? I wonder if victories and vanquished was actually more profitable given how simple it was to make
I personally disagree with beasty here the 1st time regarding Format and Mappool, i think that we see a player qualified for the Finals that is the winner from last year is a bit weird but he earned it right, also u couldnt put anyone else there than Marinelord since he won the most S-Tier tournaments so far. And on the Mappool i would love to see some Variety in the Mappool, like 5 Standard Maps like: Dry Arabia, Lipany etc. and than 1 Weirdmap, 1 Watermap, 1 Hybridmap and finally 1 Campmap. In the qualifers u can ever Veto 3-5 maps and it kinda give us (the viewers) to see High level play on every maptype and see how the Meta shifted after several Patches. Nice Video tho o7
Yeah, when it came to the map pool he seems to be very biased for maps that promote fast games, which makes sense from a player perspective, but those are usually the boring games to watch. Coastal Cliff is a honestly terrible map that produces very boring games. I'm glad it's not included.

What’s wrong with empire wars? Maybe u don’t feel it as a champ but the first mins of each standard game is boring as hell, so what’s wrong having a shortcut into action? I usually just skip through the first few mins
1. Nobody plays it. As Beasty states in this very video, he would need to pay people to practice it with him on his level. Asking your pro players to invest time and effort into learning a game mode no one uses or cares for is horrible, this is not the only tournament these people play. 2. There's so little confidence in the format, we don't even have a ranked Empire Wars game mode. 3. Empire Wars is completely unbalanced for competitive play as of right now. It clearly hasn't been a priority for devs to fix, as again, no one plays it.

Mongol tower drush, English MaA opening, dark age spearmen from Ottomans, Japanese opening up by gathering only stone for daimyo upgrade and trickling in the gold that way, and those are just some dark age
