@@Qourie pretty sure it's because Arthur gets way more fleshed out and has a lot more time to play as so you get very attached but John is still really good and red dead redemption 1 is still one of my favourite games of all time
@@Noelfriday the reason he was shot was not because Dutch was a better shot, it was because the piss in his pants froze and he couldn’t dodge the shot.
I totally prefer this version, and I love the mission Jim Milton Rides again, it’s so great how everyone thinks he’s just a simple farmhand only for him to quickdraw and reveal he’s secretly a legendary gunslinger lol
For me not only is it an exquisite piece but it sounds more like the original Red Dead theme which was a little more.... hmm, subtle than American Venom which is pretty bombastic. Plus the nostalgia. Gotta love it.
@@Pedro_Le_Chef "That's... Actually kind of brilliant, Erh, For you. That's a real idea, I think that's the first time you ever had one of em'! -Arthur Morgan RDR2
@@Pedro_Le_Chef Yeah, was kinda stupid. But I guess it would make rdr2 players going to rdr think that john had some hella growth after American Venom or something
John really shines when he has something to fight for. Throughout the main story of RDR2 he was just a kid fighting because he was angry and it's all he knew. He was a screw up. Then when he went to avenge Arthur we see how deadly he is when he's determined. When the odds are against him and everything is on the line, that's when John Marston is at his best. We see it again in RDR1, when he's fighting for his family and nothing can keep him from his goal.
Exactly he’s completely relentless when he’s determined on doing something, he’s completely fearless too even Arthur expresses how he’s afraid to the nun but John never broke down he always kept moving forward even when all the odds were against him
because arthur morgan gave john a chance to fight for what mattered plus he saved his ass on that mountain...both arthur and john went down like real badasses
@@whxte_sabbath John was wiser that way in the first game. I get why he wasn't spouting lines like these during the 1899 portion of RDR2 but it's a shame they didn't carry over his worldly knowledge and experience by the epilogue.
Never forget that Agent Ross always knew how dangerous John was when he showed up with an entire detachment of the US Army just to storm his homestead. And still, a single gunslinger, his teenage son, and an old man with terminal Lumbago held them off until there were scarcely more than a dozen men left.
Considering that John is a gu slinger of near supernatural skill, Uncle may have been intended to be Red Harlow in RDR1, and Jack has shown a proclivity to gunslinging, a bunch of Pre-WW1 soldier with no heavy weapons or artillery don't stand too much a chance, numbers was the only advantage they had.
@@theartillery9724 idk about that. The whole game had themes that were popularized by spaghetti westerns; morally grey characters, the end of the Wild West, de-mystification of the wild west and gunslingers, the consequences of violence. All themes that became common in westerns from spaghetti westerns.
Now imagine John shouting in the background: "YOU SHOOT LIKE WOMEN" "LOOKS LIKE I'M COLLECTING A FEW BADGES TODAY" "I'M SENDING YOU ALL TO HELL" RDR1 combat was spectacular.
@@McBanditHope IIRC the modern two-hand technique was developed in the late 50s - early 60s or something like that, and before that pistols were almost always held in one hand
''From a man who abandoned his family, to one that died for their safety'' Now that's what I call true *redemption* Edit: Damn that's a hella lot of likes
That's like Arthur abandoned his gang after the gang abandoned him, sacrificed his life for the family's safety. I love the Red Dead Redemption Series Edit: That phrase might sound familiar to you but I'm trying to correct based on what the most of you said in the comments. Arthur tried in the end to make Dutch have sense but Dutch still wanted to side with Micah. Despite all that, John gave our justice that we deserved but unfortunately that event foreshadows John's future in Red Dead Redemption. I hope this helps and makes it clearer.
The Tragedy of John's life is the irony that he could have been a great Lawman. He could have honorable led a life of danger while staying true to his principles. Even Abigail could appreciate such a lifestyle
If Arthur and John didn’t become outlaws I can see Arthur being a writer and/or explorer while with John I see him being a lawman/vigilante sort of like what Landon was to Chuparosa
@@User-gd5un He was clearly very literate and enjoyed writing down his thoughts and drawing realistic pictures in his free time. It’s fitting that he’d become a writer if he wasn’t an outlaw
@@GOSMTPersona i also really like the detail that john tries to follow in his footsteps. if you look in the journal you can see john trying to draw like arthur but failing
@@ghostly9548 There's also the part after he builds the house and writes a letter to Abigail. He reads it very slowly and deliberately like a child, giving away that he's not very literate, unlike Arthur who did not seem to struggle with written word.
Arthur Morgan - the ruthless yet gentle and conflicted senior gunslinger of the Van der Linde Gang who wanted to set things right John Marston - the badass gunslinger of the Van der Linde Gang who made it, and is back to avenge his fallen comrades
I’ve loved the character of John marston since 2010 And it pains me that most new fans don’t understand his character at all. His development, background and overall impact is the best id say. Everything he overcome from being a kid to a loving father and husband who was the baddest man alive in America and Mexico. He went down fighting and sacrificing himself for his family. And he became the ultimate legend of the west
Don't know why but I love Arthur as well, I'm so sad when he died that I don't wanna play the game for 3 days those time lol. But I'm totally agree with you, John is the Red Dead icon for me, even I just started playing RDR1 in 2019.
Listening to this every morning. I feel like a cowboy in the shower. Damn the game was great. And DAMN, this is so much better than the orig. or American venom( it‘s awesome too) but this song literally shows Johns journey
American Venom is the last bit of Arthur that lives on through John. Arthur would've been so glad to see John evolve into the man he became. Taken from another comment from the actual song in RDR2, Micah probably shit his pants once he heard gunshots and his men screaming on that day. Arthur came back from the grave and lived on through John, just to finish business and at the end of the day. Sadie and Charles only helped John avenge his one and only true "brother" Arthur took revenge but it was John's doing. You know for a fact Arthur was smiling the whole time from whatever part of the underworld he was in. The only true American Venom is revenge, despite what Arthur said, revenge is a fool's game, but as the old adage goes, an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth and a nail for a nail. This is John's redemption, to prove a point it wasn't a vain sacrifice, he was saved multiple times by one person and the only way to return the favor was to kill the rat and backpoking snake.
Yea and Arthur told John Run and don’t look back and he went back to kill Micah in doing that agent Ross Located John and that’s when RDR1 Begins same with Jack he did the Same thing Arthur told John not to do….. and after John was Killed Jack Grew up and Got Revenge on Behalf of John and The Circle continues Redemption
Actualy micah didnt because micahs an idiot that thinks john is still the same even tho he just killed all of his men even insulting abigal think he and dutch would kill john until dutch shot him, he shot him pretty good
You DEFINITELY gotta do more of these with Red Dead Redemption 2's soundtrack, this was an OUTSTANDING composition This could even do missions like A Social Call, Icarus and Friends, and Fleeting Joy, among others some real JUSTICE
The best thing about when they use this track for the first time in the epilogue, they genuinely make you feel what John feels. After the gruelling ending you the player go into the prologue understanding what was sacrificed to give John this chance, and that you shouldn’t waste it. Every mission leading up to this one has John struggling to hide who he really is to the rest of the ranch. It gets pretty frustrating in fact, and then Ranch is attacked and people almost died. Abigail is 100% right for trying to keep John out of it but it’s at this point you and John couldn’t be more on the same page. We SHOULD be hiding and sitting this one out, but these people who have been good to you were hurt by a larger ranch trying to force them out. It’s a perfect situation of good people being pushed around by a Bully. Helping them is the right thing to do, maybe not for your family but you have the ability to help these people back and thus you feel obligated to. The chorus hitting just as the shots go off is perfect, it’s the climax to all that build up. To hear it blasting as you shoot bad guys and your friends all lament about your shooting as they no doubt have their suspicions about you confirmed. You are John in that mission, you mysteriously arrived on this ranch and now you’re here protecting these people like some hero in a book.
My favorite gunslingers of all time, Jim Milton, John Jim, Rip Van Winkle, and of course, Leviticus Cornwall, that guy who helped those rebels in Guarma
John Marston embodies the human spirit of facing fears head on, no matter what, despite of fear of your past catching up with you, no matter what the future is going to be, fighting for what you believe in... let's be brave, John was a true hero
You can take the man away from gunslinging but you can’t take the gunslinger out of the man. What I love about this mission is that in those first few missions in the epilogue leading up to this, John is out of his element. He’d never done ranch work to this extent before and it was blatantly obvious to his employers and the other hands that he wasn’t who he said he was. John was unsure of what he was doing when it came to milking cows and building fences, but as soon as shots were fired, John sprang into action. It was like he went on autopilot and that outlaw instinct kicked in. For the first time since arriving at Pronghorn, John was the one that knew what he was doing. For a brief time in his mind, John was home with the gang again. Despite just narrowly escaping that life previously, John does seem most comfortable when he’s staring down the barrel of a gun. No matter what he may tell himself or try to do otherwise, he enjoys it. He’s just like Arthur was. They were both taught since their adolescence to fight and survive. It’s all they know how to do. When he opens up that chest and pulls out his guns and Arthur’s hat for the first time in years…goosebumps man.
Kid: "hey dad, why did you name my brother; John?" Me: "well your mother really love's johnny cash" my kid: "ah that makes sense! thanks dad!" Me:" sure thing, Red Dead Redemption 2 - Jim Milton Rides Again (Definitive)"
Really love how it fades down around the 1:10 mark. Then once its stripped down to just the bass it blasts you with the wall of sound. Good stuf. Edit: btw where did you get the trumpet stem at the beginning of the video?
Tbh this feels like the true mixup, like when or (if) a red dead 3 game comes out, this would play during the beginning as some cinematic cutscene plays.
I do love this mission. This is like that moment where the protagonist from the first movie, old and rusty in the third, comes out swinging and leaves the other characters in awe.
This music and animation video is absolutely mesmerizing! The combination of the beautiful music and stunning visuals creates a truly enchanting experience. Well done!"
AH absolutely love it, nailed it, I love all these remixes the community has made, let's hope the community and creators like us keep the game alive for as much as possible
I was gonna good boy with Arthur. Jim you're in for a ride. I finished the game for the first time 1 week ago. Cried for a week. Loved it, I'm over the sad. Yeehaw! Let's ride Jim!
I finished it a week ago too. Cried for days. Was an actual spell that came over me. Had "That's the way it is." on repeat. But I'm ready to ride again.
i don't get why people think this is a remix it's literally from a mission which sent me here rn it plays in the mission where john confronts the thieves from the ranch
It will happen again, rdr3 will give us a protagonist we will love more than John and Arthur. It might not sound possible, but none of us thought Arthur would be better than John. And here we are.
I highly doubt it unless it's a character like Dutch or Hosea. As much as I'd like you to be right, I just don't think Rockstar could top Arthur. John was just a badass, Arthur was a badass & a character you could get attached to very easily. Not much improving you could do for a protagonist.
@scorpion6328 yeah, he is. Take off the nostalgia glasses and arthur simply has more depth and clearly more time put into his characterization. And I grew up on RDR1. I never thought they could top john, but they definitely did it with arthur.
