I used to love going to Rathskeller Fork and watching the sun go down over by Rio Bravo I believe it's called. man I can't wait until this is able to be played on the Xbox!
It ended up being most of my life. I'm still lost in this soundtrack 11 years later. How many times did you do the story mode? I've probably done it 10 times by now
I was an ambient designer on this game for years. We all went through hell to make this. It makes me happy to see comments like this and makes it worth it.
HOW HOW!!?? How can so much memory, emotion and awe be connected to a few strums of several instruments. The soundtrack is undoubtedly the best gaming has ever witnessed.
I wouldnt say the best but it's pretty good because they got that feeling of being far away from your family right. it sounds like what john marston is feeling.
At the end of the century, they'll compile a list of all of the Game of the Year winners and rank them. I have complete confidence that Red Dead Redemption will be quite high on that list. I'm pretty partial to sinking completely into a game, but this game was something else. The story was exceptionally written. The game structure, as far as progressing through that story, was perfect. The gameplay itself was extraordinary. The visuals.. How you can be coming down the ridge from Hennigan's Stead and see clear across Nuevo Paraiso.. Or from the highest peak in Tall Trees you felt as though you could reach out and touch the sky.. were, in my opinion, staggering. And this was on a PS3. But the music, and this ambient track in particular, captured every part of that game without question. I only played through that story one time, and maybe at the time, I was going through things of my own that made the game that much more substantial, but at the end of it I felt as though I had just gone through a true experience.
@@forrestgumball I’m from California and I love the Wild West and I’m sure liberals love it to. I think it would just be leftists or sjws who would hate it.
@@dingbat466 for one, no one forced you to read comments, if you were "listening to nostalgic music" you wouldn't be reading comments. Also this isn't overused lmao
@@waltersobchak4565 I understand why RDR2 met such reverence. It is an improvement on every end and a belligerent masterpiece. But RDR1 is more organic, its characters are more Wild West. John Marston has so much to lose, as you said and the entire rough, natural and wild landscapade of RDR is just more believable. I love the coarse, methodical yet melodic soundtrack of RDR playing at the background of cinematics, gameplay and dialogues. There's games that transcend growth and development, that's RDR2. But there's genius ideas that capture human state of mind effortlessly, that's RDR.
I listen to these when im out with my dog, most of these ambient tracks are perfect for both sunny and rainy days walking through fields and round lakes. And the blackwater/ tall trees tunes are good for colder or snowy days. I also have a leather journal because of Arthur. The red dead world means that much to me i have to mix it with ours lol. Next js the knife set and satchel
I do the same thing! I listen to the RDR ambient music every day, while Im working or relaxing. The Mexico ambient music feels so good in the height of summer and the Tall Trees/Blackwater music in winter. The music producers really nailed the soundtrack and the ambient music, it makes the RDR world feel so real and compelling
It means a lot to me to, I make camp fires, I sit outside by trees and lakes while reading, I write in a journal, I have a knife I use for a lot of things
Not to mention that in RDR1 each location has a different ambient soundtrack, while in RDR2 is just random soundtracks each time you travel to a location.
RDR2 does have region specific tracks mixed in with other tracks, my favorite being ones from Lemoyne. But I wish Rockstar would've at least input these old tracks when being at New Austin or Southern West Elizabeth.
I live in the bottom left corner of Kansas bordering Texas and Oklahoma, here you can see the gorgeous blue summer skies and deep purple orange sunsets because not a single thing is blocking the horizon. This games sky reminds me exactly of that.
Same,I miss rdr1,I recently 100% completed the game + undead nightmare back in January and I got rdr2 complete edition for my birthday, honestly I'm mourning the completion of the 1st game, the 2nd one feels like it was another game that got turned into a Red Dead game last minute for me. ; (
Honestly man this ambience gives me nostalgia. Never forget man, I went to St. Louis and after I went back to my home. We stopped at a Walmart nearby and I found red dead 1 for 360. I was looking for the game for a while and it was finally here. I bought it and I played the game all night, it felt so special playing this game. I’m definitely going to revisit this game
@sandmankreuzritter8217 wow man, I believe you dude this game can get through rough stuff. I'm happy that it got you through dude, you deserve happiness
Im so glad i still have the rdr 1 disc, im going to play it again, this game briught so much happiness to my childhood on the xbox 360, as soon as i would come in from school i would go straight on it and play for hours until my mum told its time to come off, the music has always stuck with me and forever will.
Hear me out here (and stick with it), but I've realised something quite interesting with these musical tracks. The theme of new technology, shifting social and political norms, and industrial growth runs throughout the entire game of RDR1, but there seems to be a special contrast between the areas of New Austin and West Elizabeth. NA, to me, is the game's space most evocative of the 'old wild west' as we expect to see it in modern media. Though using quite standard tropes related to the genre, it captures the dying way of lawlessness that John and Dutch's lot were chasing throughout their years as a gang. WE, however, is more of a daunting look to the future. The growth of Blackwater, riddled with corrupt politicians (Nate Johns), advanced war machines (the automatic gun used on You Shall Know The Truth), and overbearing law enforcement (of course, Ross and Fordham) are all the antithesis of Dutch's and John's ideal America. The music captures these emotive values perfectly - the NA music feels nostalgic, bittersweet, as if times are being fondly remembered yet deeply missed. The WE music, on the other hand, is felt to be unsettling to many; abandoning the coziness and fondness of New Austin, replaced by chilling, amelodic ambience. Both NA and WE music focus on the past - one warmly remembering it, the other frighteningly departed from it. What is quite special to me is that, now nearly 12 years have passed since this game's release, we similarly find ourselves longing to return to the simpler times we were in when first hearing these tracks. I, personally, remember so dearly the many hours of my teenage years spent discussing or playing this game. The music always immediately and vividly returns me to that period, either by fondly recalling the good times, or lamenting their passing. What I'm saying is: the music's narrational value for the fictional story of John Marston (the music narrating his remembering of the past), has ended up doing the exact same for many of us in our real lives. Probably coincidental, but something to think about...
i completely agree, it gives that feeling of simpler times, especially since I was a kid playing this game, now an adult in my 20s. The ambience of RDR 1 is incredible, the aftermath of RDR 2 is felt so well.
OK This is AWESOME! Thank you for making this. Some of the best times in this game were just riding and hearing the music. I hope Red Dead 2 doesn't suck!
Shelley G What worries me is that GTA4 had a better story and long missions. Unlike GTA5 it sucked at story, missions, and Multiplayer. Microtransactions is the worst thing that could happen. GTA 5 just went into Battlefield 4 after the Gun Running DLC. You have clowns running around with explosive sniper, and over montized prices. I mean like 4 million dollers for a four wheeler. Let's all just hope RDR2 doesn't follow GTA5.
0:09, 0:21, 1:04, 1:24, 1:38, 1:53, 2:09, 2:18, 2:44, 2:51 and 3:41. I just love the violin music in this soundtrack and the guitar goes well in the background.
Man, I live in the what used to be the Wild West Tucson AZ only 40 minutes away from the border alot like rdr. Playing this game was more special to me because it told my history. My family are decent of the Spanish vaqueros and Indians and have been in Arizona before this game even took place. Everytime I load this game up no matter we’re I’m at I’m reminded of home the large cactuses, blazing sun, and the coyotes howling at night but most importantly the music sends me back like nothing else like I’m a kid again walking through the Santa Cruz or hiking up sabino canyon or just those days it’s so hot you can’t go outside. Thanks rockstar for portraying my home correctly.
Now I'm so far from home, more than 9 thousand kilometres (in fact I'm in Mexico), and this music is like a cure for my soul and my nostalgia. Brings me really good memories
I see this again almost 10 years later....Many memories...I hope REMAKE of this masterpiece doesn't ruin this Edit. Ps4/Ps5 port its really good as original. And 60Fps too.
My first time playing this game was at my cousins house where I was about to leave and he said “Wanna try to hunt this Buffalo” I got so excited and grabbed the controller. I aimed and fired killing the buffalo. I instantly knew I wanted to play more of the game.
So did anybody else notice that at 3:30 - 3:42 the guitar subtlety plays American venom but slightly off key? It does it a few more times throughout the whole song if you pay attention
@@DH33.0 very true however they removed a decent portion of music out red dead online, alot of songs I really enjoyed listening to when roaming around with my buds. Now the same two songs play over and over in red dead online and I dont know why :/
The Implication I haven’t played online, maybe it has something to do with people turning up into different areas activating the free roam music at different times, CPU can’t handle it. I’m pissed I can’t get all these songs on cd or download. Would pay good money
@@DH33.0 dude right, not only that at least 3 of those songs were music that only played in the online however I cld not find them on the soundtrack anywhere. Now that they are removed from the online its like they never even existed :/
The Rio Grande area in both games is just amazing. Rockstar did an outstanding job of artistic direction. I still don't know why RDR2 wasn't picked as Game Of The Year lol
@@Pedro_Le_Chef The controls are designed to be realistic. You can't move at constant speed and control your body without restrictions IRL. That is what they wanted you to feel in this game. I've played more than 400 hours on the PC version, it is absolutely not hard to move on the game as long as you know how it works. You mentioned the gunplay. Well, it is way better, and I've played RDR for a much longer time. You can't compare the gameplay of a 2010 game which was based on the GTAs gameplay and a 2018 game which aims to be more realistic. Maybe God Of War was more enjoyable in terms of fun, I give you that. RDR2 is not a game where you have to always fight. It's an invitation to contemplate, wait and enjoy the world they have created.
Its crazy bc where I am I dont really experience true peace mentally and physically. Either my enviroment is always argueing or slams and mentally I cant rest.... but I listen to this or that one rdr2 ambient song and I just start to cry for some reason like damm is this peace ? Its so beautiful to hear that I cry 😂
Im sorry to hear that. I think the mind needs peace sometimes. Where I lived there was always arguing and I had to worry about getting kicked out of my home. I moved half way across the country to get away. All the best, friend
John - Excuse me are you seth Seth - Who are you John - Am a friend of me and mr west dickens my names marston john marston Seth - Good bye john marston is been a great pleasure John - I need youre help seth we need youre help me and mr west dickens .
More often than not I feel like a stranger, a ghost among people. Like I'm not made to live in this modern world. I feel sad and angry all the time for how powerless I seem to be to change the path I'm riding on. Red Dead world and music though fills me with bitter sweet feeling, brings me some solace in the solitude.
RDR2 just doesn’t have the same feeling this game brings me, can’t really pin down the reason. I think it’s mainly due to the ambient sound. Edit: Bruh, why is everyone arguing in the replies😂, everyone just calm down and enjoy the music! ✌🏽
Only game forcing me to buy Xbox 360. Finished the game and sold xbox one year after. Now I crave PC version! As for music, liked them all but loved the song when first crossing into mexico!
I ment that Ive sold Xbox 360 one year later. Sorry for the confusion. And gosh darn it, they should make RDR for PC as well. Its a crime they did not do that yet. Also with this Win10 supposedly sharing Xbox one games as well.
