Its all up to the individual, I only do the three main areas as its just as close as I can think to be able to get the best idea of feel of grip and balance etc to hopefully help people decide, but people are also in-between such as not totally to front and not totally in middle and also some people spread there fingers along the barrel and some hold the bottom of the stem and just the point, so there is no definite way just the way that feels right for yourself :)

My order arrived yesterday , 23g , flying nicely , i grip towards the front in the scallop with finger on the point ,feels great for me.The darts are going into the board sitting up , which I prefer, I swapped out the points for the Winmau black grooved points, for better finger grip, great review !

Red dragon always used to be good value for money. Now it seems they've copied target and unicorn and are making darts expensive. Glad I use designa darts. All the best Darren thanks for the review

They did and although they still have some decent priced darts I think in recent years they have obviously took on more high profile players which is one part of it then like I mentioned previously their manufacturing plant is in Kenya, so no doubt they probably ship via Suez canal and container shipping has gone from around £1600 to over £20K+ so that will be another part of it. Sure there is other reasons but of course its a business and they are going to make profit on players darts so will always maximize the chances of a profit too :)

Even postage prices have shot up, a darts mate was recently priced £90 to get a board, mat and cabinet to the Isle of Man. It’s the same price for a fully loaded pallet to the same place! Interesting that the RD and I suppose Winmau darts etc are manufactured in Africa.

Cracking review again, Great looking set of darts, seriously tempted to have a set, I currently use the Gerwyn Price Thunder darts, will they make me play better 🤷‍♂️, Hmmmm, I don't know. Regarding the price increases, I've just received the new Red Dragon brochure through the post and a lot of the prices have gone up. Not just by a little bit either! Congratulations on the 30k. You're doing a great job. 👏

Hi Darren, glad Red Dragon haven’t gone too OTT with the design on these. Do you think the Manufacturers are pushing the boundaries to far with their designs so the Darts are more show pieces than playing items? Oh and thanks as a new darter your reviews have helped with correctly selecting darts, understanding my throw and with sticking with them and it 👍

They have been doing that for a number of years now, just look at a lot of the Asian brands and brands like Shot and Target with there many fancy grips and coatings and in recent years there has been some like it from a lot of the other brands now but Shot, Target seem to have done it the most and then may be Red Dragon with some particular models, check out the new Marlin for one :)

No they don't, they have there own pricing policy just like every brand based on all the usual business practices which govern it. As mentioned many times prices are increasing for various reasons but all brands will stick to a certain profit margin which I think may be a little higher for players darts so as to cover the cost of sponsorship and all the extra marketing that goes with it. The question of whether we are getting ripped off is another matter that is impossible to know unless we have detailed information of all the accounts but as customers it's always easy to assume that we are.

It's interesting how an increasing number of pro player dart barrels are becoming available with non-straight profiles. Watching the pros play, it's easy to see that even they have troubles with their straight barrels flying sideways. The recent interview with Peter Wright reinforces the idea that there is a problem with them. Darts might be on the cusp of some rigorous technical development effort. I still love the 'spring onion' description for spring onion-shaped darts.

I must have missed that interview with Wright, where is it? watch the final but turned it off after it was over and not really had chance to catch up with any media since then. I think so many still use straight barrel darts though, but I think sooner or later there is going to be some way of the manufacturers using some super duper software to tell exactly what kind of dart will suit the players grip and throw best :) We may get some very strange darts then lol wont be good for sales once it becomes fully customised to the player though :)

How deep is the contour, i throw with a three finger grip, my thumb on the left and two fingers on the right/top im used to a straight barrell but i need a change. I have Claymores on the way.

Looking at the balance part would you describe this as a front weighted dart? Thanks again for the review. A bit binding to buy them cause of the price and located scalp.

Its slightly front weighted but of course the centre of gravity is always affected by the stems and flights. Barrel has a fair amount of tungsten machined out at front half but its more bulbous but would be more front weighted if it was less machined.

sounds like you need a long straight barrel, many like that, check the Bradley Brooks by Target, think he has a similar grip or darts like that style

Hi! I myself am throwing with the harrows wolfram infinity darts and love how the grip feels. Now I am looking to get a new set of darts and was looking into these and the black version of the darts. How would you compare th e grip from the gerwyn price darts compared to the wolfram infinity? 😃

@@vincevandeheijning225 Well I gave the Infinity 7.5 for grip on my written review and these were 6.5 and the Echo I reviewed with 7 and 7.5 so if you thought they were too grippy then maybe the infinity will be too, but its a slightly different feel so I cant really say how its going to feel for you.

I use the same darts but I’m quite now to it. If I hold the dart at the front where you hold it, the darts doesnt go straight and wobbles in the air. I always need to get the grip much higher at the Iceman zigzag line to throw it straigh. Any tips to fix that?

There is no right or wrong way to hold the darts really, just what feels right for you. If you hold it further up then that is fine :)

Couldn't give a toss his good they are,never gonna pay that much for a day of darts. Paid £25 for mine twenty years ago still doing the job to this day.

£25 20 years ago is the equivalent of £43.33 in today's money which would make the darts £31.57 more, so not quite the same extreme difference as the £25 compared to the £74.90. As mentioned numerous times these last few months the price of darts like everything else is increasing dramatically so you are lucky to have a set your still happy with using all these years. Still it's all relative, when tungsten darts first came out for many the price was more than a week's wage! 🙂

@@Darren4032 Ah got ya, yeah in U.S. its been like that for many years, think I was the first non U.S. guy to point it out to many of the U.S. people many years ago when I frequented the early darts forums. I know I got slated like crazy when I pointed the same out on a U.S. Facebook group, they were particularly nasty on there, think it was because they were people who either owned or worked for the U.S. darts shops. I was the first guy to point out that Laserdarts Widows darts were sold cheaper at Red Dragon than U.S. shops, again no one believed me, then a certain other U.S. Ytuber claimed credit it for it all and made out it was his thing. But I knew about the difference a long long time back. But after the abuse I got on the Facebook group I thought whats the point, no need to be like that so I just never bothered anymore, not sure if it was because I was English and they thought I had no business talking about the high prices or what? Thing is now its so much easier for people to shop around online and buy anywhere in the world whatever they want, so no need to pay crazy money :)

The cuts look the same as the winmau Vincent vv darts which is a great grip…….. but not for me as a rear gripper

I get tungsten has gone up however if you look on the catalogue his stems have gone from £6 last year to £6.50 this year. Then all the flights have increased too. Some is due to price increases and red dragon refusing to take a small hit in profit and some is just plain greediness. Sadly the more popular darts has become, the higher the price

seems, those Darts aren't for everybody. I'm glad I rather don't like GP at all, so I'd never buy one of his Darts at all! So please don't let me win those... thank you! :)

most players darts are not if they have strange shapes etc but you cant hate darts just because you dont like the player, what if they turn out to be the most suitable darts for you?

@@dionysis84 I find his unsportsmanlike antics very unpleasant to watch , and as I'm Welsh and grew up around the sort of person I know he is I find him even more unpleasant . Obviously unless I meet him and he's a thoroughly nice bloke , but anyone who reacts like he does by " throwing right hooks " is usually a herbert .
