I'm almost 73 and I never heard or saw this before.... but I gotta tell you, I cried like a baby and I felt the presence of my Lord. Thank you so much for posting this video.
+Herb Houston I'm a 100% Disabled Navy Veteran that is 57 and I love this song. I heard it since I was a kid. Monday, 10-25-2015, I was life flighted from the Mt Union, Pa VAMC because I was having a heart attack. I know what you mean crying like a baby.
+Joseph Meece Oh my Lord. First, thank you for your service..... and your sacrifice.... and I pray that my Heavenly Father watch over you and hold you in His hand. May He fill your heart to overflowing with His love and His presence. As I get older I am reminded that my time left grows shorter by the day, but I know for certain that when I leave this world, this life, I will go home.... to my real home, where I will see Him face to face and He will say welcome home my child. I am drawn at times to the struggle inside me.... that of wanting to stay here and at the same time longing to leave. I have never done much with my life, but I know for certain that Jesus died for me.... me. And the trials and test of this life won't amount to a hill of beans when it's all said and done. I wish you God's grace my brother and ask that you put your faith in Him...... He will not fail you....
+Herb Houston Thank you for your support. The Lord will protect us if we ask Him. I read the King James 4 times, the NIV once and for a gift our Pastor gave me the Common English Bible. I find in the CEB they don't capitalize the pronoun for Jesus or God - aka He, His etc. To tell the truth for someone that is first time reading the Bible the CEB would be good but for faith missions I go with the King James Bible..
I heard this song by Red when I was 5 or 6. I grew up and started performing it at church, anywhere I played. It was and is such a part of me. I don't get to perform any longer, but it is still a part of my very being. If you don't feel the presence of the Lord when you hear this, then I don't know what to think.
I have a faint memory of this playing as I lay outside in the warm sun & mom inside caring for my baby brother. Dad was in the air force guessing the year about 1949-1950. I'm not sure where we were then either. I'm almost 78 & brother in now 76. Beautiful song, moving.
My dads favorite song. It brought tears to my eyes to hear it again today. Mr. Foley is such a great singer, and this is truly one of the all-time great gospel songs.
Was my beloved grandmother's & I'm listening to this with thoughts of being that young child & her listening to this on her old radio. It's 1 of those precious memories we hold dear to our ❤
For 22 years the sign off of my fathers country radio station played This version of Peace in the Valley. I had not thought of it in years. One night out of the blue I could not sleep and thought about this song and decided that part of my day would start with this song as well as end with it. It played such a large part of days past that held less stress and chaos.
This was one of my mom's favorite gospel singers it may be happy just remembering his name he truly was a giant and a remarkable singer rest in peace mom rest in peace Red Foley in the loving arms of God
I love listening to red sing. I played no tears in heaven at my mom's funeral 11 years ago not just because of liking the song but red was also my moms cousin. Reds would have been mom's 2nd or 3rd cousin according to our family history.
As a kid I remember him on the Ozark Opry from Springfield Mo I am 80 now,Steal Away has been going thru my head for days good to hear from someone that knew how to put feeling in music
Red Foley was the first person I remember singing on the radio (1948 Chevy pickup) in 1951! At three years old I fell in love with his voice. Such memories, I want to see him live someday in heaven!!!
As much as the Peace In The Valley song was really good, his version of the Steal Away Home was even more heavenly, peaceful, soothing, and glorious. Bless his soul.
Actually, I have heard both Elvis' (I own his record, CD and his gospel DVDs) and Johnny Cash's version. I like Red Foley's version better, that's all. :-)
This and "Where Could I Go But To The Lord" were the first songs I became aware of, as maybe a little three-year-old. Pretty good way to start life, even in a four-room tarpaper shack.
On Sept 19, 1968--50 years ago this past Wednesday, Sept 19, 2018, the great Red Foley passed away after performing "Peace in the Valley" in Ft. Wayne, IN. He was one of the greatest singers of the 20th Century...his records topped the pop, country and Gospel charts beginning in the 1940's. RIP, Red Foley, father of Shirley Foley and Father-in-law of Pat Boone.
Treasure Isle hank Williams Jr was right next door in a motel....Red came by and chatted some with him, then passed away thru the night. Hank Jr wrote a sons about it...I was there with Red ,the night he passed.
One great surprise, too, was to hear and to see "(There'll be) Peace in the Valley" by Elvis Presley (with The Jordanaires, backing vocals) in 1957. Great rendition!
Steal Away is an absolute tear jerker that never fails to bring me to tears. An absolute masterpiece. I have always loved this song by one of the masters, Red Foley.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm 68 now and haven't heard these done by Mr Foley since I was about 13, when I decided (along with all the other teens in town) to listen to the new local radio station playing rock and roll, instead of KDAV in Lubbock, TX playing country. We thought we were so cool. Well I'm older and I hope wiser now and I love all types of good music. This is the best.
One of my best friends died a couple of weeks ago. He was only 45. We are both die-hard Ram fans and watched every Ram game together. Sadly, he missed the announcement that the Rams were coming back to Los Angeles. We both live in the city of the Angels and we every Rams game from St. Louis. Although I'm Jewish and Joe was a devout Christian I have loved this great hymn since childhood. Don't think Joe will ever lie down with a 49er fan but he'll have a front-row seat the next time the Los Angeles Rams play in the Super Bowl. And when they do, I'll take out my guitar and sing "Peace in the Valley" for Joe and me.
Investigate, read Isaiah 53. Joe wants to see you in glory. The suffering servant is the spotless lamb and final sacrifice and now high priest forever. Yeshua means God our salvation. The lion of the tribe of Judah!
This hymn when Roy Rogers and Dale Evans would do a live show or rodeo in concert. Roy would end that with this hymn. This was a favorite of Roy Rogers. I have The Red Foley songbook. Thanks for sharing. This is beautiful.
You're absolutely right..... Good evening Jennifer how are you doing over there hope you're having a wonderful day it's a wonderful day that the lord has made.
Religious people are autistic, and creative people are, well You Know artistic isn't the way I'd describe it. Religiously speaking, I've never met a match for my house fired torch bearers, Hwell that's where you'll end if you don't listen to them every once in awhile.
