The Red fort is a majestic fort in Delhi, India which was commissioned by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, who also commissioned the Taj Mahal in Agra. He had moved the capital of India from Agra to Shahjahanabad (present day Delhi) and then built the fort, which was completed in 1648, and was the home of the Mughal emperors until 1856. A little-known fact is that the fort was originally made of white limestone but once the stone started to chip off, the British painted it red. As you will see inside, there are many important buildings, such as the Chhatta Chowk (bazaar), Naubat Khana (drum house), Diwan-i-Am (Hall of Public Audience), Moti Masjid (Pearl Mosque), Hammam (baths), Diwi-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience), Khas Mahal, and Rang Mahal (Palace of Colors).
