Yes they are very cute but require so much time and love to be given to them, in order for them to come out so friendly like the mom. But it is all worth it in the end with the hard work and time we put into them, to be able to share that with the next new family the kits get to go to. We love being able to give that amazing experience to someone new.

I have a question. How old should I be to own a fox?
@MatsonsOutdoors
@MatsonsOutdoors 2 года назад
Over 18 & be sure you have plenty of time for a fox. Do research on them before getting one. Make sure it's legal to own one where you live as well.

Why did you pull them so quick? A month is young?
@matsonspets803
@matsonspets803 3 года назад
I pull them at 2weeks of age to get them hand tame with people and to get them friendly as possible. With her first ever litter she had, I let her raise them, I thought because shes super friendly and nice, there should be no issue with the kits. I was wrong. Those first kits were wildish, skittish, and on the mean side. Even when I tried to interact with them daily with their mom, they still wanted nothing to do with me. So her first ones I had to basically donate away. So with her second litter I pulled them at 4 weeks old. And that was also a little to late of an age, but a little bet better then her first litter. So for her 3rd litter, I pulled them at 2 weeks of age, just before their eyes open and I completely cut peka out of the picture with her kits, so when the babies eyes opened, the first thing they see is me and to feel comfortable with me. Peka actually did very well when I pulled them. And through this process I trained them to use a pee pad or litter box and leash training and crate training. Because you never know what their new home their going to has to offer, or what the new family would prefer to house them. This way the kits know and are use to many different things and can adapt easily. I try to find them their new homes anywhere between 4 to 6 weeks of age. Most of the time they leave by 5 weeks. I do this because they are still somewhat on the bottle and bottle feeding is the best time to bond with your kit. It allows your kit to build trust with you. I know it sounds young, but many people need to realize that these animals are still very wild animals. Their not your typical dog or cat that is easily domesticated. So in early start in life for them with human contact is the best thing for them and to the new families they go too.

That’s ridiculous!!! Just watch some of the “save a fox” videos here on RU-vid - the foxes are very tame and love their “mom” even though they were rescued as grown ups from fur farms and such. Your message makes me just angry because it’s bad for the young foxes health to be taken from their mom so young. It’s only you that want to be selfish and egoistic for they are so cute. But you don’t care about them really or you would leave them with their mom until they are ready to go. This would also be healthy for their mum. But what to do is disgusting.

@@laracroft5351 Yikes. I am sure this lady who works with foxes all the time knows FAR more about what is good or not for them than you do, an internet armchair warrior. You are literally one of the worst types of people imaginable. Perhaps check yourself before throwing stones at others. The foxes in this video seem happy, healthy, and well cared for. They were calling for "mom" and stopped as soon as she brought them close. To the kits, she is their mom. I see literally nothing wrong with this at all since they are captive raised foxes and not wild caught foxes. BTW, yes I have been watching SAF probably far longer than you have, since basically they were unknown on youtube and just starting. Yes I donated to their recent fur farm rescue effort. Leave the animal care to the experts. Unless you are doing this work yourself IRL you actually don't know crap about it and really have no authority to cast criticism on others. PS: If you actually were a SAF fan you would know that they take kits FAR, FAR younger than these, literally ALL the time. I remember when Floofala and Serafina were being bottle fed when they barely had their eyes open.

@@laracroft5351 I agree. Foxes are wild animals, and shouldn't be kept as pets.
