@@GodFireBreakdowns - i think its a common misconception that DOD is in a parallel universe to NieR, when in fact DOD and NieR are in the same, and looping, timeline, albeit split apart into "branches" - DOD3 and Re[in]carnation confirms that different time branches are created by decisions special people make (these special people are called "singularities" by Accord; Him/Her use the term too). Historically this was how Yoko explained the multiple endings in the DOD/NieR games - we never actually _see_ what the world is like outside of Japan in any NieR material - likewise, there actually _is_ evidence that elements of DOD exist in NieR's particular timeline branch independent of the 6-12 incident or Accord's interference: it is the "Schwanstein Castle" in the Forest Zone - in concept art, it is stated there is cut content in this area where there was supposed to be a coat of arms and flags of the Cult of Angels/Watchers in the ruins where the King rests. - likewise, the archive that describes the castle mentions it housed a lord who was in conflict with "the church" - combining this info with the concept art description indicates this strange European castle in Japan is actually that of a Union kingdom who fought against the Empire/Cult. - Why is it in Japan? Perhaps it is the result of Android historians rebuilding old infrastructure and erroneously placing them in incorrect continents - based on this, the Androids and Machine lifeforms may have been fully aware of the Cult as part of their studies into human history - it should be noted too that Yoko has not yet decided if the Red Eye Disease in DOD is the same as the WCS in NieR, though he is accepting of the fan theories that they are the same. Even still, he consistently makes the origin of these diseases "unknown" as even the Logic Virus still has unknown origins. - curiously, Red Eye Disease in DOD is seen as a possession by God, but it is also a disease, but it is also something that can be suppressed by a "strong mind" and it is also something that gets activated by strong emotional reaction - WCS is likewise a virus that forces victims to be possessed by God, and the strong minded infectees become Red Eye Legion - Logic Virus seems to share the same properties as WCS and R.E.D. as 9S, a "strong minded" individual is able to consistently resist infection through a strong hacking skill, but succumbs to it specifically when he is driven mad by losing his beloved girlfriend (a very strong emotional reaction) - considering fate and cyclical time (à la Buddhist cosmology) are central themes to DOD/NieR, these different iterations of a Red Eye Disease must be seen as, at the very least, a reincarnation of sorts - although DOD/NieR is dominated by overt Christianity references, there are many instances of deep Shinto and Buddhist subtext. As the saying goes in Japan: "you are born Shinto, marry Christian, and die Buddhist"

@@morgonfr33m4n1337z Love your analysis on this! I did think the same thing. When Yoko Taro was asked if the logic virus was related to the legion and he said if i had to say something then yes. That tells me the same thing you just said he is leaning into the fan theories. Which I can see it a lot in especially this anime. I am working on drakengard 1 and i see the similarities between how the infected in the anime are saying "mine all mine" compared to the game. It is a interesting the "strong minded" individual who is able to resist the virus. This is a bit going off track but him not succumbing to the viruses easily makes me think of project yorha as a whole. The whole project was designed to fail. The beginning of route c is originally working as intended. But I think what they couldn't account for was A2, 2B and 9S. I need to look into the buddhist cosmology then. I know Yoko Taro likes making references to christianity and even evangelion. But I am not to familiar with Buddhist.

That's what I was thinking too. He is doing that on purpose to show a lot of the never ending cycles.
