"Someone" is such a beautiful, dreamy song. A chorus of Frusciantes is always enjoyable.

'Eskimo' still blows my mind. It's a flawless gem. The kind only these four could mine.

It's incredible that they wrote these amazing songs and they decided not include them in an album, I mean, they could have released another official album with these and other b-sides and it would have been a fucking amazing album, "Rivers of Avalon", "Leverage of Space" and "Time" are great tracks, such a talented band

I remember hearing John say how he had been listening to a lot of The Beach Boys in the writing time for By The Way.. well doesn't 'Someone' just show that... as well as things that did make the album like 'On Mercury'. This is such a wonderful collection thank you so much for posting it.

Man I'm always bombed at how some of their b-sides sound better than some other songs on their albums. Always the b sides, I wonder if today's artists still make them? Haven't bought a physical cd in years, bloody iTunes and the single song or album purchase hahaha

Great find! Thanks SO much for this. Saw them at woodstock 99 and then kinda forgot about how amazing one hot minute was.... Then I forgot how amazing californication was ... Fortunately I never forgotten about the magnificent blood sugar sex magic.... But that didn't prevent me from largely ignoring it or neglecting to spin it through the years. I totally shunned by the way, I'm with you and the getaway. Stadium arcadium was my entry point, now, at age 40... And I've listened to, everyday now, pretty much for the last couple months, NOTHING BUT THE mighty red hot chili pepper. Even revisiting the old LPS I had as a kid. (Plasma shaft, freaky style, mother's milk, what hits? The videos collection on VHS, funky monks and uplift mofo party plan 🎉) so I've definitely been a casual fan, obviously I had almost amassed their entire product line at one point or another.. and I'm talking CASH lol physical copies . Not no napster, torrent, file, stream cloud ☁️ current stealing of their discography. Of course, the timing couldn't be better as unlimited love is easily just as good if not better than blood sugar sex magic and definitely a career defining album! But yes. What a find. I also recently rediscovered the vinyl records from the b side collection of I'm with you. So good. I can't believe I slept on that. Then I discovered THIS Album by the way was also supposed to be a double album and that stadium arcadium was actually thought to be three separate use your illusion style albums.... But they just left a whole albums worth of b sides off in the end. THAT collection... The stadium arcadium b sides are the last rhcp output I have left to discover as of now. I'm sure I've heard many of not most of them as I also stream and play and watch many many many live sets (I even went to the movies in 2010 when they got josh.... Or was it 2011? When they did a live concert from Germany of I'm with you, which, sadly turned me off, as it wasn't the best way to share a new album, it sounded better on record, Joshua's new and would get much much better in the longest world tour ever, they're actually in the Guinness book of world records it was over 150 dates 3 years... And lastly they had problems and didn't even do the e tu Brutus song... And repeated one. So call me a fickle bitch but it turned me off. It wasn't too dark necessities that I considered them relevant again, but the caveat would be I immediately learned it was a flea song. So I was still iffy about josh. Now, I know hes great and can even watch and listen to those mixed playlists created for quarantine that jumble up years and shows and even Josh and John eras into one long playlist or audio or RU-vid video clip. Anyway, pardon the excessive message but I just wanted to really thank you on what I find there's one particular song here that I'm in love with and I don't know been able to find it on my own if you didn't compile this so thanks! 🕺

It’s funny to hear overlap between these songs and the ones that made it on the record. When you hear “rivers of Avalon” in the chorus of the song, it has the exact same melody as the chorus of “this is the place” when he sings “caught in a flashing ray”.

The harmonies at 1:26:01 and at 1:26:12 initially totally sounded more like Josh than John. I know that isn't the case but still, at first I was stunned haha. Thanks for putting this up! There's so many hidden gems in the Chili Peppers catalogue to search for and hopefully find.

Definitely hear a cure influence on this album but definitely on the B-sides like Rivers of Avalon. It reminds me of a song by Beefheart. John cited that the cure seemed to be influenced by captain beefheart. Steal softly thru snow is the song I’m thinking of, that very first lick reminds me of it. Interesting to see the influence !

Runaway solo = A Fall Thru the Ground by Frusciante

Crazy that johnny fru was having problems with flea and chad when working on this album. He was writing a lot of the bass lines and some of the drum parts that flea almost quit the band bcuz he felt he couldn't express himself properly
