The way these guys work is insane to me. Almost everything they do is improvised and the majority of songs just come from jams. Sometimes Chad will just be drumming something in rehearsal and John will find the guitar part that matches Chad's drums. Sometimes Flea starts with the bass and Anthony will just start making stuff up on the mic. Sometimes it's John with a guitar part that they all work around. There isn't a ton of structure, there isn't much planning past the initial plan of just rehearsing. Rick Rubin recently interviewed them for his podcast and they discussed that process there and while I had heard that's how they worked, it was different hearing it from the members themselves. They're also very willing to scrap stuff that just isn't working instead of forcing it. They were really interesting podcasts, if that's a thing you'd care about. Obviously not for a reaction, just for your spare time. 🤣
@@AG-lm5uf sometimes. Not all bands. Rick Rubin even commented on how different it was than anyone he had worked with before. Every band works in the way that works for them, but to have someone like Rick find it special means there's something unique about it.
Was just listening to a podcast with Flea and Rick Rubin. Flea talking about his connection with John vs Josh. Flea basically said Josh is a great musician, but whenever they make music together they had to talk and work out the process. But with John (paraphrasing here), they don't have to talk about anything. It just works. Flea would bring in a piece of music, and John would just create the perfect compliment to it. And vice versa.
I like the fact that when Chad plays, even on a quieter song, he plays loud and with energy, it really adds to the feeling of wanting to move while listening to the music. This song is not their better but my fav as far ! Nice review !
I love how John and Flea seem to talk to each other through their instruments. Mostly John is giving the input and Flea follows, but I like it, when it's waving from one to the other and back. They have a special bond.
good reaction David. I told you before "these are the ways" is a really good song for a reaction. It is a new version of RHCP. Nice energy in this new song.
Not only do Flea and John (or Josh) improv different jams at all the shows I have seen , but John also changes up his solos for performances. Flea is definitely a musician as he plays the trumpet on multiple chili's songs (and on the Jane's Addiction song idiot's rule). I think he busted out his trumpet in a Intro during this show.
The opening jam is improvised. I’ve seen them live several times, and there are also many many youtube videos of them doing a different jam every single time before going into this song. It is basically Flea playing off of John. Those 2 have a magical chemistry and are musical kindred spirits. So happy for this review and also love the Macho Man cameo!
This is all improv at the beginning! It's also my ring tone! I keep waiting for someone to call me and someone around me to say, "Slane Castle, nice!" It never happens! 😩😂🤷🏻♀️
Love these Chili Peppers reactions, but what I’d really love to see is you react to some of John Frusciante’s solo work. The song “Central” is simply stunning!
I don’t know if someone has already brought it up, but you should react to their performance from Purple Stain from this same concert. It’s more than amazing!!! It’s just epic!!
about the jam: I i'm pretty sure they already have a line to follow, and they improvise on it. which is still impressive. (but the guitar solo is improvised 100% on show)
Hey man feel free to give your opinions of the song being played! Even if you don’t factor it into your score of performance it’s still all part of the reaction! I also seems like you know music really well. When flea hits a groove or John does something unique on a solo, or Chad hits a killer fill.. point it out! We want to celebrate and enjoy the song with you. This is about music at the end of the day
Just a guess, but the Purple and Gold lighting was probably for the LA Lakers. Those are their colours and they are all fans of the team. Fits in with the "Hollywood" vibe of the song. I could just be connecting things that aren't there though.
Please, David (or anyone else who knows). Can you answer if any of these RHCP songs are on the waiting list? 1. Brendan’s death song. 2. Charlie. 3. Eskimo
Audio drop off? That’s points off your live performance, David. Remember, we’re not looking at the words. 😉This was fun even for a mellow RHCP song, thanks ✌️
If you're scoring based on Live performance and It is a melow Song HOW you choose 7? THEY executed wrong? Like... How? This is the best performance of this Song.
NO offense here but we want to see ur gut reactions, not explanations of the music. WE ARE OLDER THAN YOU, WE"VE ALREADY BEEN THRU THIS man ........all due respect man
People need to realise that that opening Jam was pretty mid. John sounded like a highschooler riffing around but Flea saved it a little. But it still doesn't sound very good.
