I do not care what anyone says, Josh's ending solo here was one of the best live Scar Tissue solos EVER. Yeah, I said it. Seriously, so much soul, a total Maggot Brain feel. Mr. Klinghoffer, I stand by you.
John is big influence for Josh, if you watched or heard enough gigs then you'll hear that he is so much in John's style than you could thought just right before.
I've never seen them live, but just from watching these videos on yt, it doesn't seem like their shows have the same energy as they did with jf. When I watch their other performances before john quit, I can feel it through my screen, lol, i get chill bumps and a buzzing sensation on the top of my head. I like josh a lot, seems like a real genuine, artsy, sensitive soul, but jf just had that x-factor...
the story is that John was a guitarrist (that became a multi-instrumentalist)...Josh was a multi-instrumentalist who became a full-time guitarrist..they are different musicians cause they have different past :)
I FUCKING LOVE JOSH!!! JUST AS MUCH OR MORE THAN JOHN. HES THE NICEST GUY AND A GREAT MUSICIAN WHO EMBODIES EVERYTHING THE PEPPERS ARE ABOUT. THEY ARE GOING TO GET BETTER WHICH IS A SCARY THOUGHT
WTF? please somebody remix this so that at least Josh's lead can be heard over the bass and drums! I mean really...the guys playin through a 200 watt Marshall Major and we can't hear/feel the vibe from the lead.
rhcp is my favorite band love this song and josh is not a bad musician actually he plays well jams too but he doesnt go the same level as fruasante in the rhcp songs he dosent improvisse much and is not that cool when he does it love fruasante love red hot chilli peppers and love that they are still together at least chad anthony and flea there still good
Good news from the future john comes back in 2019 and replaces josh but we wont be able to watch them live cause of the fucking covid. But they will release a new album again with john on 2022 also they are gonna fucking have a worlwide tour with john also in 2022 your welcome.
Never will understand all the fuss about John, always thought he was so overrated! However, I love Josh's guitar work on Im With You, his whole loving minimalism way of playing fit the album perfectly, his backing's are also great to listen to :)
well clearly my beloved RHCP doesnt sound da the same without John...... he totally shuld cum back...nd also Scar tissue sounds like shit without his solos......
I doubt anyone can do it quite like Mr. Frusciante. I'm not knocking Josh, he's a hell of a guitarist, but RHCP just don't have the soul or power they did with John, both the records and live performances. It's kind of made me lose a bit of interest in them.
Very weak sound from Josh's :(. seriously RHCP very diffrent without john. This RHCP is same with david navarro :( i hope that someday John will back to this band again.
Blake Douglass That's not about the wah wah, man. Look around! They don't have that fucking spirit, that thing that bring them all together to the same place instead of just standing there and playing. Look at the old videos and you'll see how it was different when they were with John on stage, how John and everybody really felt a beautiful and magic vibe. I'm not hating on Josh, I know and understand his way of playing. But this is lame. His way of playing is not strange, is weak and the solos are the worst thing ever, honestly. It's not like "oh, only John can do this" etc. It's that they're not the same anymore!
Thays Amorim Have you been to the live show the spirits not changed. The energy's out of this world you are like most people it's hard for you to handle life's only constant. We all know the only constant in life is change you don't have to watch red hot chili peppers new stuff. But you've made the conscious decision to watch them because you'er still looking for what was instead of what is. Now you not liking Josh has everything to do with your mind set of holding on to the passed. If you don't like RHCP just don't listen or watch there new stuff.
Blake Douglass If I'm holding onto the past, so are you, honey. The sprit on the stage have changed and if you don't wanna see it, that's okay. Just watch the older videos and you'll see. No, I'm not like them. It's not like anybody can take John's place - I'm not a hater, I'm not hating on Josh's work. I buy it, I watch it and I love them, so I will continue to say what I think about it, even if it's something you don't like. Josh's guitar work looks weak and nothing you say can change that! But it doesn't mean he's not an UNBELIEVABLE artist. Have you ever heard his work with the The Bicycle Thief? It's soooooo good! He's got potential but something it's happening that he can put it all on his work with the RHCP.
sappy133 The spirit of the band will for ever and always be Hillel Slovak that will never change. I mean you saying words like Josh's guitar playing is weak is and indicator that you are comparing him to John that's what I mean by your holding on to the passed. Also I don't need to watch old video's of RHCP there nice but not relevant. Also you're right Josh will never replace John and John will never replace Hillel. But it's not about replacing anyone it's about moving forward. Imagine if Anthony and Flea had decided Jack Irons was right and stopped moving forward with RHCP. Anthony and Flea didn't replace Jack and Hillel they just decided to keep things moving. Also if you want to check Josh out at his peak creativity I say go hear some Dot hacker. I must say there second album is much better so far then there first. But the other half of it won't be out until October.
There no need for John to come back he's doing so many cool thing. Also John is on team Josh. John sat down with Josh and made sure he new the song back in 2010.
yeah your right. But I think they will get back to the stadium arcadium band set-up with john AND josh in some point in time. I really love johns solo work I have all the albums. Even the one he did with the black knights a few months ago. But I think John will get back to all his "friends" in rhcp. He did that once he will do it again. Hopefully
You have to understand that in 1998 John was in a totally different mind set. He had come off of years of doing drugs. Also at that point in 1998 John felt like he had quit for the wrong reasons back in 1991. So he was more than happy when Flea asked him back in to the band. I also loved the set up for the stadium arcadium tour. But I don't think John would want to step on Josh's foot like that. It would be kind of disrespectful John know how the fans would react. Now I hope John returns to doing live show or a band setting, Because it would be awesome to see John playing, singing doing backing vocals and soloing.
I sure hope you're right. Johnny is the missing piece all though I like Josh in his spot. But at least they picked a replacement that has been with the band for a while as a back up instead of some random
