I'd been looking for this song for months, I forgot almost everything about it, band name, song name, where I'd heard it, except the feeling, and for some reason the words red and blue. After several failed attempts looking at all my youtube history, but never giving up, I looked "list of indie rock musicians" on wikipedia, and browsed through a thousand names or more. The second I hit Red House Painters I knew it was them... and that this was the song I'd heard. Feels so good to have found it again... I'll make sure I'll never forget it again!
There is a music store in my country. Someday, they just randomly make sugestion - listening to this album. I never know about RedHousePainters. Then i just give it a shot. And its forever stuck in my heart
If you are here listening to this song. You know the depth it. Few songs touch like this. A perfect balance of sadness, wistfulness and beauty. May this song inspire you to feel, connect (with others, or better understand ones own self) and share what we can find when we feel what certain songs want to show us. This is one such song. Mark, if you read this, you are amazing for the creation of this song alone. I wish you all safe travels. I hope we all find each other as we really are, human.
the summer sun going down ,Red house painters coming form the kitchen cd player, that smell of life and anticipation of the next joy,the next love, the pure sound of longing where ordinary things are magic and even the smell of cold evening air in an old hoodie makes you smile.
At the beginning, it's a great song. Then at 0:42 it becomes an AMAZING song. The minute that pedal steel guitar comes in, it's like, "Oh, this just got SO much deeper."
I recently started to see her in my dreams again. Night after night, as I lay down on my bed, tired and exhausted, I prepare myself to meet her again. So, I gently close my eyes and put a smile on my face, just like I used to do when I was waiting for her to come out of her house, and I heard her door opening. I miss you so much, there won't ever be a girl so special like you.
I heard that song in the movie (The Girl Next To Door) and I really liked that sound. The film marked my life and the soundtrack is very good ... I miss the good times ....
It sounds like the memory of youth thrown into the deep blue sky of that distant summer... RHP always recreates beautiful sceneries of our memories and nostalgia. Amazing.
Lyrics: When everything we felt fails Then some music, soft and distant sails But it don't sound like it did before Then I know I'm left with nothing more Then my own soul When pretty pictures face back But your coats aren't hanging on the rack And blue water turns to A place that I can't get to A place that I can't In a room all I feel Is the cold that you left Through the air all I see Is your face full of blame What's left to see? What's there to see? In the room all I feel Is the cold that you left Through the air all I see Is your face full of blame What's left to see? What's left to see? What's left to see? What's left to see?
I heard one of their songs in the old Alicia Silverstone flick Excess Baggage. Thank you movie Gods! How could I ever forget RHP?they got me thru so many rough times.
Heard Fade Into You and started looking for this one, just couldn't figure out at first what song it reminded me of. But I was quite sure it was Kozelek.
It’s very impressive how many songs “The Girl Next Door” brought to all of us. That movie, which was strange in some aspects, left a before and after in the memories of millennials
That's funny... When I was in high school I met the guitarist of Mazzy Star on a MUNI train in San Francisco. Red House are an SF band. Do you think they were around each other and traded ideas?
This isn't just similar it's a direct copy with different lyrics. Except even the lyrics are sung in the same way as Fade Into You despite having different words. I really want to know what the story behind this is.
there's some record label dispute that never resolved, rhp were switching and this was made in the transitory period. So I doubt it'll ever be officially released :(
Yeahh this song open my heart like a child, the love is very important to me, I ussed drugs all my live. I don't have house, don't have kids, all is me is coming again, and this song is the perfectly for in love ❤️, thanks Mark k
I always come back to this song. It's not reinventing the wheel or anything, but it's absolutely beautiful even if I don't pay attention to the lyrics (which is easier for non english people). Today I read pitchfork and Rolling Stones reviews and what strikes me as odd is that they don't even mention this song, it's practically the title track.
I’m so tired of all people complaining it sounds like Mazzy Star, it’s two completely different songs with different chord progressions that sounds a bit similar with the slide guitar. it’s two incredibly good songs and stop complaining about it! I’m a musician and every chord progression there is have been used thousands of times in various different songs, that doesn’t mean it’s a rip off!
Pretty sure Phoebe Bridgers cited Kozelek as a songwriting influence or at least inspiration (although after the allegations against him came out in 2020 she might feel differently about him, but I think the musical connection still stands) and the intro of this song and "Moon Song" off her 2020 album remind me of each other.
It's really stunning. This album gets very little comment. I love the comparisons with Mazzy Star, and even I am hard pressed to say which song I love most.
It is one of the most amazing rip offs I ever heard. Thank you Mazzy Star for creating the amazing music that inspired this one and that Red House Painters never credited.
+A.T. Vieira I love that show. So emotionally satisfying. A damn shame that Togetherness and Looking both got cancelled after 2 seasons, both shows excellent :(

Is soo beautiful, my world is complete lost,. Yes I do i need. I need you, you are my sun, you are my moon, when in the end history is this, I stay lost in the live, I dont remember the last time sunrise... My hands change, now bleeding for you. My arms goods touch this sun and fell can be bird. Oh I'm soo sorry I'm creep man, and Depper, pace love
@@the.shotgun.approach Mark and Hope Sandoval dated and even toured together. Mark usually does covers of songs he likes, but due to their relationship he wrote this. It's not a rip off, it's more of an homage and love letter to his friend.
I'm not finding any sources that they've dated, let alone that this song is about her.... somehow I see Anthony Kiedis mentioned, which looks intriguing but questionable, but not him. Lol
@@SunnyvaleTrailerParkSupervisorcan you actually make use of your brain capacity, mazzy star released fade into you first 3 years before RHP released songs for a blue guitar. ignorant turd
