RED Hydrogen One Review - Why it Failed 

I actually bought the Red Hydrogen one phone in 2023 & the first thing that struck me was the extremely premium quality feel & built of the device not seen anymore except for the discontinued ultra luxuary US$20,000 VERTU phone R.I.P..I love ruggedness made with metal enclosure but unfortunately with outdated Android OS, SoC, camera features & display screen.

I honestly think that anyone who bought the Hydrogen One and didn't expect a first gen product was an idiot. I got mine very late, after the H2 was canceled. As someone who hangs onto phones as long as possible, I made the jump from the Galaxy S4 (Yes, the S4) and love the Hydrogen One. I find the complaints about it fall into one of two categories. I phone people think that a new phone every year with cutting edge technology, fastest, biggest, brightest everything, is how phones should be. In short, they have no idea what scarcity is, or what it means to buy something as an tool. Everything is a toy. And since the Hydrogen didn't have the latest this or the newest that, it was "outdated." Most android users looked at the price and said "nope, too pricey." I will agree with that point. But I feel it needs to be said that "overpriced" does not mean "bad." As someone who literally cut his teeth on a camera strap, whose first camera was a Brownie, I can say the 4v photo quality is solely dependent on the photographer. If you're event he slightest bit off in focus, it ruins the image. Over all, it likes depth and distance. Again, this is a first gen product. I love it, and I mourn the death of the H2.

They never should have thought about the modular expansion, on a phone it's really pointless. Should have just concentrated on the 3D screen and built in cameras, never should have touted it as Holographic, it's glasses-free 3D and it does pretty well considering what came before it. Then it needed more support. The screen is still awesome, it's still the best thing out there for glasses free 3d. And I still use mine daily. Hopefully, the screen company Leia will come out with their own phone now that they have the tablet. Just picked up a supposedly broken black model for 35.00 but all that's wrong with it is the sim card tray is broken and stuck inside. And bought a new in box Ti. model.

You haven’t truly experienced The Force Awakens until you’ve watched it on a $1295 phone in dizzying pseudo-3D.

It really wanted to be everything all at once, and for a starting stone it was too ambitious. Poor Red

Yeah that phone is hot garbage. Also to say that they stopped supporting the phone implies that they supported it at all. That phone never once received a security update.

4v is like the 3d they had in cinemas in the 1950's and it was rubbish then!

"Red dropped the price to $645 which is $645 more than you should pay for it"- This was basically a scam to empty fanboy wallets.

I really dislike the vulgar RED aesthetic.
