Red pandas are native to the Eastern Himalayas and Southwestern China.Despite their name, red pandas are not closely related to giant pandas.They belong to their own unique family called Ailuridae. Red pandas are primarily arboreal, spending most of their time in trees.Their diet mainly consists of bamboo, but they also eat fruits, berries, acorns, and insects. Red pandas have a specialized wrist bone that acts like a thumb, helping them grasp bamboo.They are crepuscular, being most active during dawn and dusk.
