Amazing film for it's TIME back in the day. Telling of circumstances in fears of Intelligent Life on Mars being discovered & announced. Including CODES, & information being passed & communication! INTERESTING!
yet you read the news everyday that our president having committed adultery by having sex with porn stars and grabbing female genitalia ....and that doesn't offend you ?
If nothing else, this movie reminds us how far we've come in seventy years in our understanding of the complexity, vastness, and sheer weirdness of the universe contrasted with the quaint simplicity expressed here. One almost wishes we could talk to martians by Morse code.
Christ is the answer to this world's problems and so if it can be heard and declared in a movie set in 1952, then why currently are Christians imprisoned for praying in public in Denver. Targeted and harassed throughout the country.
Saw this movie in the theater when I was a kid. My dad and I really enjoyed it. Hey, don't knock it. It was something for it's time. Sure brought back some great memories. Thanks for up loading.
My cousins would come to visit our family in another town. They went to the movies and would tell us every details of the movie, it was always good because they were descriptive of the movie .
We went from a dream and stories to almost reality. Mars is almost home. I am Mars bound on MFM733 marsflightmission733 which will be 80 % cargo so 10 and a half months on a ship with 3 or 4 babes, zero g banging and Elon musk bud.. shizz will be dope. I'll be housed in orange37B on Mars if you ever wanna come over and hang out. 😃
If you like movies and 1950's sci-fi tv shows, you might like this. It's called ''One Step Beyond''. When I watch them I noticed there are no commercials and they are only 1/2 hr. long. They are on RU-vid and there are so many to enjoy.
One Step Beyond had some very good, serious scripts, as well as the actors! If you enjoy the old TV shows, you should check out Science Fiction Theater. There's quite a few episodes on RU-vid .
@@suzvalentino1901 .. Yup and mostly based on real stories/happenings/events/occurrences, I have watched quite a few so far also Directed by the Host John Newland, OSB was an Inspiration for Rod Serlings "The Twilight Zone" :D] .v (Nmcfmf) ..
There's something about them! They bring back memories of being a child and sitting on floor watching TV with no worries, There's something about the contrast of black and white that keeps the focus on the main plot instead of background and side stories
I have not seen this movie and I love old science fiction movies. This one was among the best. The message behind the movie is both moving and true. This film is definitely a Christian movie and one to be appreciated. Thanks for sharing!
If my parents ever watched this movie, I don't remember it. I was only three years old in 1952. As a Christian, I was pleasantly surprised at how the film developed. Thanks, MarsRevealer!
A sci fi 50's gem. Love this movie and the ending is shocking but extremely well done. This is a classic of epic proportions. Peter Graves and a great supporting cast played this out with heart and passion.
@@alainjames9556 the revolting thing is children left in a war torn world and a world that celebrates pedophilia which is what democrats want. Is that ur world Allain?REVOLTING!
@@jazzfusionary Your reply is nuts. Democrats? pedophilia? Are you crazy? The parents in this piece of garbage committed suicide - a cardinal sin - leaving their young children to face life alone - and why? So that the secret that the whole thing was a farce and a charade and completely fake would not be revealed. Is that a value you identify with the republican party - or any political party - or with people who value, love and care about children?
I usually watch the old Sifi movies a little bit at a time, this one I watched right through to the end, and enjoyed every minute. Very powerful film which isn't made anymore. Imagine leaving the theater back then, after seeing this with the thought of what you had just seen.
Raised fireplaces, flat screen TV's, SUV Jeeps, talks of microwaves, loss of jobs, unions, talk of retirement assets oh my. I didn't know 1952 was so modern.
I saw this movie several times in my childhood. I always had the feeling parts were cut out for commercial time. It's very nice to finally see it in its entirety! Thank you!
I was born in 1952 and for whatever reason I have been an avid reader my entire life. I have read many autobiographies but I started reading science fiction in grade school. Books such as The Angry Red Planet fascinated me. No surprise that I am an avid UFO geek.
Hey! We could be twins! Except I gave up the UFO geekness when I found too many identical photos, identical, supposedly from many different places around the world. Watched "Gumby" cartoons faithfully. I saw them on Internet recently ... and realized it was Gumby who installed my love of reading.
@@veramae4098 Gumby & Pokey !! UFO stories a great read decades ago as a kid. Heck even Mom has a story driving back from Vegas at night with a friend. Spoke with Art Bell about it. Still not happy with all the blurred modern sightings lol
Back in 1952, for a black and white film like this, the theater projectionist would put a red filter in front of the projector for scenes on Mars because Mars was the angry red planet. In later technology, they would somehow dye the film red for those sections.
Wow! Is there any way to give this film more than one "like"? I'm 74, and this is the first time I've ever seen this film. It _should be_ mandatory viewing for All of Congress, the WH and anyone else in politics!
I love these old movies, especially with Peter Graves. One of my favorite movies he played in was called, Where Have All The People Gone. These old movies beat the movies of today by a landslide.
This movie is ahead of its time. It shows things that are not typically shown in 1950s sci-fi (B) movies. This look more realistic than your run-of-the-mill sci-fi movies at the time. And the ending. My God, I love the ending of this movie. I wish somebody can review this.
@@jessicahill6418 Special magnifying screens that were used mostly in bars and public venues. A regular TV was placed behind the screens so many inches and the picture was enlarged, almost exactly like the big screen TVs of the 1990's which had three color projectors in the bottom aimed at a mirror which then reflected back on the magnifier screen. They were called Fresnel lenses. Use ended in 2008 with the last production of the giant projection TV by Mitsubishi. But yes, what you see is the same technic back in the 1950's
Peter Graves was so relaxed in these roles just perfect such a great actor. I'll remember him and appreciate his work far more than the so called A lister of today.
Peter Graves was one of those surfers who lived and played at the beach in Malibu. Slightly rebellious, on the fringes of society, yet knowing they'll have "grow up' someday and take jobs. Hollywood sought out such groups (motorcycle gangs, as another example) and that is how he was discovered.
These movies are time machines of sociology. I was very young a few years after this movie was released, but I recall watching it on black and white tv as a young boy. Notice at the beginning of the movie, everyone introduces each other as "how do you do"? Not, how are you? Not, how's it been? Not, how's it going? What was the common expression in 1952? How about, "how do you do"? These movies are history lessons for how we spoke back in the day. Priceless, IMHO. When people hundreds of years from now want a history lesson on how people spoke during a certain period, they will simply go to a digital version of whatever technology is in place at the time to learn how we spoke, acted and lived. We can't say that so well for history over 150 years ago unless we resort to books, papers, and texts.
40:23 - "How's it going?" 😉 Notwithstanding that line, I agree with your thesis. To the degree their portrayals are realistic, old movies are a sort of time capsule for how people thought, spoke and behaved at the time of their production.
Yes, good clean stuff. But take note of the way the Cronyns welcome the Nazi war criminal who did horrible experiments on humans. His commitment to Science is more important than the immorality of his deeds, Oh, that must be Dr. Von Braun at the door.
Well, there were shows like " I was a Communist for the FBI!" Truth was there was very little crime then, maybe because so few had anything worth stealing. Food was still being rationed in England etc. I recall until 1968/69, Many left their keys in their car, no one locked either car or home. Business's were robbed, not people.
Great movie with an awesome plot! It considers what might have happened if the plot actually happened in our world. Not only is this high quality sci-fi, but deals with the moral/spiritual issues one would expect if this story were actually true. BRAVO!
The best thing about old sci-fi movies is seeing there Perception of advanced technology, can’t help but wonder about our current misperception of technology that will be made appeared with sufficient amount of time and hindsight.
This movie was good! I stumbled upon it and I'm glad I did. Didn't know the plot would turn the way it did. What a great surprise, esp the dialog at the end. A new favorite! Thanks so much for posting! 😊
Great to watch again after 40 or 50 years, If you are 50 years & over then you know that when these types of films came on the TV (that's if your parents owned one) it was such a thing for the imagination, they really gripped a lot of people as this sort of stuff was left for comic books so when on TV it was a real treat to watch
I saw this movie as a young kid in the 60's and find it as captivating now as I did then but on an even deeper level. This time I noticed the not so subtle commentary on man's unending lust for the almighty dollar. When Mars claims to be able to feed 1,000 people per year on an acre of land, mankind doesn't see the opportunity to end world hunger, but the loss of income to farmers and ranchers; when Mars claims to have abandoned the use of coal and oil for over 300 years, mankind does not see the opportunity for a clean environment, but instead sees the loss of income for the energy sector. When will we realize that money isn't everything and perhaps, just maybe, that it IS the root of all evil? With every advance humans have made, the loss or diminished use of one sector of the economy has always been replaced by a greater need in the new sector. "Fear thee not change, for with change shall come new opportunities."-quote by me, I just said that, lol. Thanks for posting this classic film!
@@eeddieedwards3890 he may have believed that but never came back to tell the living there is something else beyond mortal death. As the old saying goes, dead men tell no tales.
Freedom? Freedom of religion from the oppression of Soviet police and a totalitarian government? Vaguely I guess, but most people recognize that violence and oppression are bad things (until reproductive rights or sexual self-determination are suggested). Kindness? That Chris and his wife were kind to the mad scientist? It served no purpose and they tried to kill him. Honesty? In that Chris wanted to share the messages? He also wanted to obscure the one he didn't like. This was all just pandering to capitalist christian superiority in the Cold War era. A fun, funny, and interesting time capsule of prejudices but not much more.
I just watched this movie. I didn't search for it, it just came up on my page. I never saw it before. I enjoyed it. I recognized a few of the actors, especially the one that played the president. Thanks!
I didn't realize Peter was that old, I was born in 51 and he must have been 20-25 years old already. We all remember him from Mission Impossible in about 1965-66 or so as Mr Phelps. TV's better programs then
Somehow, in all my years watching old movies, I have missed this one. While fraught with "glitches', it is still a wonderful movie, and very well thought out. It's nice to see an ending that you couldn't quite predict. this needs to be shown ,especially now. with so much hatred, lies, and confusion in our world.
Totally! Great movie.. it has such prescient relevance.. Perhaps more relevant now then when it was made... The way the Russian Premiere casually spoke coldly about the people. About killing millions, merely to 'convince the rest'. How far is Trump from this sort of thinking? Already there are extensive categories of people that he thinks should not exist,..(Not the least of which the people's voice, ...) I never forgot to love good and hate evil!
@@tomwatson8144 Ahh, did he insult your Excellency in The Oval Office. Takes some mighty obtuse powers of observation to deny Trump has "mental issues." His insecurities are out of the bottle. His narcissism on full display. His corrupt way of looking at everything doesn't jibe very well with the highest office in the land. Really, on top of everything else plus his Misogynistic leanings i think the question of his sociopathy is a legitimate one. It's a mess that no doubt has set our country back and exposed just how many people will enable, defend and minimise his behavior. Some too proud to admit misjudgment of him and those who's views mesh with his bias toward those damn people who's skin tone he seems to envy while he denigrates their origin and circumstance. Hell, he uses H1B visa's to import help for his Winery and Mar-A-Lago. I imagine Trump Tower too.
But it didn't happen, did it? We didn't get Gratitude, love and compassion, instead, we got ingrates, hate and indifference. We didn't keep faith in who we really are but sold out to the dark side; the sinister; the malevolent. Look what the world is becoming, is it what you wanted for yourselves and your children? This little movie had some interesting angles to it and for that I think it was well worth my time.
This wasn’t at all what I expected. I thought it was going to be a campy, B grade 50’s sci-fi (which I secretly love) but it was much better that that. The first give away is in the opening credits where it states the screenplay was adapted from a play - what? This is a good movie with an original plot that as far as I am aware, has never been re-done most likely because of the subject. The ending has a nice twist as well. By the way, the “valve” they speak of is the European term for a Vacuum tube, the forerunner of the transistor. In 1952, all radios and TV’s used vacuum tubes.
Being a Bible Thumper Catholic, this was a great movie. The Spiritual message of Peace on Earth, Good Will to all man, is a key teaching in the Holy Word. We need more of this in this evil world. Amen, and amen.
@goinghomesomeday1 Thank you satan's minion for that ignorant comment. 1st amendment protected for both of us. God the Holy Father bless this sinner. Amen.
@goinghomesomeday1 So true, so true. but it is in His time, not man's time. And satan is pulling the control puppet strings like a marionette of the ones that is in his control, saying God The True One God, is not real. Have a great day, stay safe, keep your masks on for health and safety.
Im a pagan but I do love the message of this movie. If your Bible makes you want to be a better human being then go for it. The fact that there are thousands of religions in the world tells me one thing only, we want to make this world a better place for our children only thing that makes us different are geographical borders and our differences in cultural heritage. At the end of the day we are all brothers and sisters. Wish you and your loved ones peaceful and healthy lives God bless ✌🏻🌍🌎🌏
The Arrival was good - focused on dialogue & story. Occasionally Hollywood comes up with a good one, though I admit their current obsession with "series" type sci fi films puts me off sometimes..
Oh, they're capable but won't for the money tap would run dry swiftly. Vice has a larger audience than religion, that is why hell was designed to expand for the customers who will check in after the flesh life ends.
Hollywood is quite capable of making a better movie than this self-righteous piece of propaganda. Thing is, they won't. This flick is fascinating as a piece of Cold War propaganda, done so in a right-wing fashion that would make anyone Christian and religious proud. (For anyone's information, I'm also right-wing, but this piece of celluloid is cringe-worthy in its certainty and self-righteousness). I watched this flick along with The 27th Day--and the only difference was the amount of moralizing done by the latter film, although this comes pretty close. Sorry, this film shouldn't be taken by anyone as a sign of good filmmaking. Meh.
Towards the beginning of the film, when the Russians(?) with hats were talking to the Scientist in the basement ,I recognized one of the actors. The main Russian guy came out in a TV show called The Millionaire. His employer was a millionaire who would chose people at random and give them a check for a million dollars. He would be the employee who would go and find these people and give them the check. It was in black and white and was in the 50's. I can't remember his name, but I "m pretty good with remembering faces. FYI.
Hi Judy: I just saw your posting after I mentioned above the name of Marvin Miller, the bag man (LOL) for the rich dude in the 1950's. I loved that TV show because we would try to imagine someone bringing us one million dollars. Am still waiting! Good programs in the black & white era!
I believe His name was "Mike" on the show .... " I have here a Cashiers Check for a Million Dollars in Your Name Mr. Bin Laden , to do with as You see fit ..... "
I've been watching SF since the early 1960s and have never heard of this film. It should be up there with the original "The Day the Earth Stood Still," and "War of the Worlds." Rock solid film. Thanks for posting it.
I agree. I'm 60, born in 58, and have been watching sifi/horror B movies since I was 14. Can't believe I don't remember seeing this. Great movie. I love Peter Graves had a flat screen TV.
