Running from #Vietnam and into #Yunnan, the Red River Fault is one of the major tectonic features of SE Asia. We take a controversial look at its significance ... and the film follows directly on from "extrusion tectonics".... Part of a series of films scheduled to coincide with Series 4 of Race Across the World #RATW and part of The Shear Zone channel. #geology #tectonics #faultline #earthquakes

Thank you Prof Butler. This is fascinating stuff. When you mentioned that the Asian continent was much weaker than the Indian Plate given its volcanic nature, I was really curious about this history. Can't wait until the next video :)

Another excellent overview of Pacific tectonics, really enjoying this series of tutorials. As an aside I bumped into a young lady who was one of your students - Opie - asked her to say Hi.

Brilliant as always. One thing I love about science is that theories are constantly being retested. However, your last satellite image showed one of my favourite geological oddities: lake baikal: I’m fascinating by none oceanic rifting, and the processes that drive it. North America has a great failed rifting and NE Africa has some amazing rifting. Would love to see a series on this!

hello again, a little bit confusing. But good news, I caught the elementary message: Nature does not follow prediction. Hmm, almost like in our own lives, is not it? Thank you for your great effort... greetings Crissy

Hey, what a fun. I was thinking about this River, Hill-row a view weeks ago, as sometime it is clear to see on satellite weather maps. I am near Chiang Mai and checked that line out on Google maps also.

Yes - many more faults in NW Thailand... and more candidates for present-day activity....

@@robbutler2095 Oh I know them, as I felt two of them myself here : Tachilek and south of Chiang Rai earthquakes. Still can see the cracks in the house. A wired feeling first thinking I got sick, and the other strong one long ! time our gates was shaking.
