There was to be "real stakes" and the illusion or failure or it wouldn't interesting either. We will rarely see certain super people at their peak. That is kinda why we blame writers for how a hero can do 1 impossible feat but be 'humbled' by something far less another day.

@ImperativeGames
@ImperativeGames 2 года назад
@@DrHeavenly I get what are you talking about. Flash and Red Rush are basically living in time dilation bubble and so they are called speedsters. And they are really breaking laws of physics when they use their speed (you can't really move through air as fast as they do without invulnerability, which they don't have... so it's not only moving superfast). Although Omni-Man doesn't have the same power, he still can think and perceive reality much faster then humans can: he reacted, caught and killed Red Rush before anyone else was able to move. And it's explained in comics how he can earn money as a writer despite being full-time hero: when he needs money he writes entire book just in a few hours. Ofc, Red Rush could do the same in minutes, but still. Remember: Omni-Man isn't human. Human would need some power to think fast, Viltrumites are simply genetically superior... humanoids, so they don't need one of those "magical" abilities like flight or superspeed to do that.

In his defense for his 'one L,' we don't see any of the heroes around when RR is smacking up Omni Man. It's believable that OM would keep the full extent of his powers vague over the decades of being a hero for moments like this. Red Rush could genuinely believe that OM is incapable of catching him, even if he memorizes the pattern of attacks. You have to remember, Nolan can accelerate to the point of making air particles explode. Red Rush had every reason to believe Nolan couldn't touch him, as he was already failing to stop him from saving his friends. As for the 'staying on support argument,' every attack that RR intercepts is a close call. He nearly hits Immortal, even with the push. The downward punch almost hits Aquarius, and he almost lands a hit on War Woman multiple times. RR recognized that a single punch from Omniman would kill any of them. Statistically, if they kept fighting like they were, we can say RR can save 99 close misses out of 100 before the team starts to whittle down.

It takes less than a second for the human body in a full sprint to take a step. In that time, RR's head got crushed. The now infamous scene happened within a second, by the time the guardians knew what was happening and started running towards the two, it was already too late. A human can react to something around 20 frames (1/3rd of a second). Considering they're superheroes, lets say they do the same in half the time (10 frames, 1/6th of a second). The team took only a single step before RR's head was crushed, so roughly the entire sequence happens in nearly an instant. But for RR, that felt like an hour.

Actually, red rush can hit quite hard. As we see when he’s punching Omni man as his skull is being crushed, he actually breaks through his suit and damages Omni man. If you watch the rest of the fight you will notice that the majority of the hits that Omni man takes are to the head, not the body, since Martian man was covering his body while restraining him, so the internal damage done to him (mentioned in the hospital scene) was likely in part caused by red rush’s punches. As we see later, not even mark, while enraged, was able to even lightly damage Omni man. This means that red rush, with his repeated high speed punches, actually hits harder than mark. Much harder. The problem is that he can’t take hits, which is why he ended up breaking his hands while punching Omni man. Since he didn’t take any visible damage from the punch that he blocks it’s likely that he didn’t actually block it, but instead redirected it away from war woman. He’s basically their glass canon. I wish he had stayed on defense because then they might have won.

@@joaquimlopes257 No chance to win just means everyone just give up. Having a chance to win means we can still try our best to try to win. Like, the reason why the fight between Captain America and Thanos was so damn great was because at several times, it really seemed like Steve could have won. If he maybe didn't jump towards Thanos with such a telegraphed attack. If maybe he held onto the hammer a little bit harder. In the end, he lost, but the fact that he could have won made it such an epic fight full of tension. Similarly, the battle on Titan between the Avengers and Thanos was also like this. It really seemed like if they had just done a little bit better, they could have gotten the gauntlet off of him. If instead, we got the comics version of Thanos with the comics version of the stones, then it'd be no contest. Our heroes lost, and we know it because of how obviously wide the power gap is. No tension, because you just know they will lose. If Omniman was as strong as he was in the comics, my reaction to that fight wouldn't be being on the edge of my seat, my heart beating 10 times faster than normal, sweating bullets, etc. I'd be "whelp, looks like Earth is screwed. I guess everyone should just give up now?" And the show wouldn't have nearly held up as well through Season 1. Heck, if that happened, I might not have even bothered to watch the next episode, because I've already seen this kind of unbalanced shit so many times before, and I know I'm bored of it. I've seen so many times what happens when a writer believes that a stronger character must make for better story / character. Sometimes, the far smarter move is to have some restraint and make your characters weaker. And to have that restraint is impressive, since a lot of DC and Marvel writers seem to always want to make their characters reality busters eventually. I like Tony Stark as a character, but come on, him being able to program his own universe into existence is just too damn much. Imagine a horror game where the monster is so powerful and you are so weak that you don't even get the chance to do much of anything before it yeets you into the afterlife. After the first couple of times, you just know what's gonna happen. Bad game. A good horror game gives you limited means of surviving, but there are still means of surviving. Plus, having Earth's heroes put up that good of a fight goes against Nolan's idea that humans are so underneath him like he says. Look at us, puny little ants, who made a god bleed, not just once, but multiple times. Making the Guardians that much weaker than him instead makes a huge disservice to humanity. And a lot of the show's themes once you get to the climax is that humanity is worth fighting for. That's why Cecil and his crew were able to put up such a good fight against Nolan, despite having no powers of their own. That's why it's Mark's human side that finally gets through to Nolan, when his Viltramite side utterly failed to match him in power.

TO BE FAIR, the guardians were taken by surprise and didnt know whether omniman was acting on his own free will or was being controlled so they probably didnt have a killing intent at first, RR probably thought his punches would be enough to KO omniman without killing him Also episode 7 implies omniman hid his power level while he was on earth, Cecil thought a low yield bomb would be enough to knock him unconcious which was not the case, so to recap - omniman had the element of surprise - he had the killing intent - he fooled everyone into thinking he was weaker than he actually was so RR made an understandable goof, its ok champ, youll get him next time

Another thing to keep in mind, for the show at least, Red Rush actually did a decent bit of damage to Omni Man's torso. Seeing that someone on the Gaurdians was able to deal damage to Omniman is probably what gave Cecil the impression a small yield bomb could do something. With all that in mind, Omniman then spent time in the Flaxan multiverse thingy, long enough to grow a decent beard, and Viltrumites gain power as they get older. So, aside from Omniman hiding his powers on Earth, he also probably got a sizable power boost between the guardian attack and Cecil trying to kill him.

Red rush definitely has some super durability and strength. They’d be necessary sub abilities for speedsters. Otherwise they’d self destruct from pushing their bodies to those extremes. And we see that it makes a long time for omniman to crush red rushes head. Later in the series we see him crush things alot easier with one hand and often seemingly harder objects too. Even crushing other peoples body parts with ease including that one flaxians head using one hand. They definitely put a lot of thought into this character and his abilities. The ultimate strategy for a speedster in a team fight would be to amplify the damage of others attacks with distractions. Not to strike out on your own where you are the sole focus. Say warwoman goes to hit omniman, red rush pushes the mace weapon to accelerate it faster, throwing off omnimans timing and adding to the damage, all while keeping himself out of arms reach from Omniman. Or pushing the back of someones elbow as they go to punch lol. Provided that doesnt shatter their fist. And just waiting for someone else to attack and hitting them simultaneously from a different angle. Maybe even fractionally before the other attack, to lower his guard to the incoming attack. If he was solo fighting. With his speed, the best option would be to throw items at him from a distance. Sure it might not hurt omniman, but he can even throw handfuls of sand, into his opponents eyes for good measure. Like the worlds deadliest shotgun lol.
