I wish they would show this on TV as much as they show commercials

Dear Congress of MY United States, I believe you have forgotten the meaning of our Pledge. Take a listen to a great American.

This should be played in Congress every day.

I'm 71 years old and I loved watching Red Skelton on TV in the 1950s and 60s. He was a very, funny man! Danny Kaye was another favorite! Two very, very, funny, funny men!

This country needs to see and listen to this more now than any other time.

MAY I HAVE EVERYONE'S ATTENTION PLEASE!!! This video was shared all over the internet back in 2001 after the horror of 9/11. I read it in text and copied it. Now, today for the first time I'm seeing it. Sit back and really think about these remarkable words. This original concept now long forgotten my some, maybe most, and will never be heard by our young children, grandchildren, or their children. Now from the heart Red Skelton...and if the kids are handy, you might want them to hear this too.

In these tumultuous and trying times, this sentiment is needed more than ever. I wish that the mainstream media would play this occasionally, just to remind people, that no many how many faults America may have, we are by far, the best country on Earth.

So pleased that this is back on utube, especially with the 4th of July being tomorrow. The one thing I remember about Red Skeleton is, he said, “I never said a dirty word or made a dirty jester, but I made people laugh” that’s talent and a person one can respect and love 💕. We truly need more Red Skeletons.

I remember watching this live when I was a child

So glad I lived in a time when we looked forward to good laughter and real character as we turned on the television. So blessed. We knew what it meant to be proud of our country, our families, our friendships. Thank you to all who have served t keep it great.

I go back to this video every so often just to remind myself we were once a great nation with great patriots like Red. My heart breaks when I see where we are and where we are headed. God bless the memory of Red Skelton.

I was fortunate to have meet Red Skelton once. He was a very down to earh, humble and joyous person.

Someone posted that Skelton had left out UNDER GOD in the pledge. He recited it as it had been in the past. After the Pledge he did point out that the two words UNDER GOD were added LATER, so he didn't leave out those two words. As a Christian man he would not have done so.

I'm 57, worked with students most of my life. I was a Red Skelton fan growing up & I wish every school across this country would play this video once a year in Social Studies, or any comparable class. I remember watching his show in the late '60s and I wrote a letter of protest to my local station as a 12 year old boy when I found out it was being cancelled. This tribute was very touching.

When I was a little boy he was one of my most favorite programs I love to watch

My brother and I would watch him late at night when my parents went to bed. I met him once at Palm Springs airport. He was just as nice in person. I still remember when the pledge was canceled at school. I liked lining up and reciting the pledge. First we faced the flag and then listened to the National Anthem. Then we recited the pledge. I was confused one morning when we were ushered into class without this beginning of the day.

I saw this a few years ago and thought this was amazing. I think all Americans should see this video. I met Mr. Red Skelton’s when I was a student at Duke University 40 years ago when I was a student. He just showed up in the cafeteria with very few people and was eating lunch. What a privilege.

I remember Red Skeleton !! Kinda ages me !! We said the Pledge of Allegiance everyday before school started and then sang America the Beautiful ! Sadly, I think doing that is a thing of the past . One nation under God ! God Bless America !

How many years ago was this and how many few years it took to get ware we are now .I still love and honor our flag what happen to so many families that believed in the flag and what it stood for . So many vets so many families losses . Its a disgrace .

Red Skelton was an Awesome Comedian and Person. We said the Pledge of Allegiance Every morning before School. It made me feel good for the day.

This is one of the important explanations of the American Pledge Of Allegiance I have ever heard, give me goose pimples every time,I am English but sums up the simple values of liberty and freedom for all under the constitution

As a student who lost his right to say the pledge in school. I am ashamed the red skeleton said so blessed by God. Because it already showed the relation between church and school. But I still say the pledge not every morning, not every time I see the flag, instead I say it on the bad days. Because America survives because we still belive
