THEORY: Seulgi thinks that she is the monster when in actuality Irene is manipulating her into thinking that. In the beginning it starts off with Seulgi crawling on all-fours to Irene in a sort of predator-and-prey style, as Irene sits there helpless. The video shows Irene as innocent and pure. Dressed in a white dress, hair tied up, wispy bangs, a more natural makeup look, etc. Then it cuts back and forth between her more innocent look and her dressed in darker colours and bolder makeup. It shows how she’s presenting herself as an innocent and pure person when in reality she’s not. It shows Seulgi and Irene dancing as if Seulgi is controlling Irene but as soon as she turns her back Irene starts controlling Seulgi. Then they sing the chorus and it shows Irene making seulgi dream of nothing but her(as said in the lyrics). Seulgi sings the line too but it only shows Irene in Seulgi’s room which shows that Seulgi only thinks that she’s the monster and Irene is the actual monster. And then it shows Irene singing, “See, I'm just playing No bad intentions I'm small but dangerous Who would refuse me” While she’s pushing down the people around her. She’s hurting the people around her while claiming that she’s completely innocent. She says that she’s small but dangerous and she looks innocent but is a monster. I think she uses the fact the no one would refuse her(maybe because she looks innocent) to manipulate them into doing whatever she wants. And then at the end it shows us Irene controlling Seulgi. So yeah but it might not be that good of a theory

The best thing about this subunit having only two members is that people can no longer erase and ignore Irene’s talent. Back in SM Rookies and pre-debut, Irene was known for her amazing dance skills. But because she was so pretty, after debut people started erasing her skills and calling her a talentless visual. To everyone who said Seulgi should have just debuted solo and that Irene would only drag her down and wouldn’t be able to hold her own against Seulgi how does it feel to be wrong? Being pretty doesn’t doesn’t mean being talentless.

For monster especially at 7:39 you can hear the rawness, the unfiltered power of seulgi's voice. It's quite rare for them to focus on emotion in vocals, preferring to record them refined, especially when the song isn't a ballad. It also helps because of seulgi's vocal tone, which tends to be a bit richer than most voices in kpop.

The red velvet psycho’s instrumental in the background just blends so well. Ugh, it’s such a good song.
