most likely "Monster" is based on the novel "Carmilla". "Carmilla" is a Gothic novel, known as one of the first novels about vampires, it also tells the story of how a young woman became the object of desire for a female vampire named Carmilla. The role of the vampire (monster) is played by Irene, and the role of the girl of Seulgi.

This is why Red Velvet is my favorite girl group, not only do they make great title tracks, but they make awesome b sides. They also like experimenting with other genres and aren’t afraid to do so. They can go from pop, retro, girly, girl crush, classic etc. They don’t stick to one. Some girl groups can be repetitive, but that’s never the case with Red Velvet. I also love their “creepy” personas, it’s eye-catching. Pretty but creepy.

The body is seulgi and she has her own shadow but irene is the other shadow that tryin to control seulgi but seulgi is tryin too.. to control the monster in her soul. Thats why irene and seulgi always close to each other in this video bcs irene is its shadow and irene is the monster living inside seulgi

Red Velvet usually doesn't put out dance practices (I'm sad too), but I'm pretty sure they are doing live performances of this song that you can check out!

A lot of people say that the music video was inspired by a gothic novel called Camilla. It’s one of the first vampire fictions. In the video irene is supposed to be the vampire/monster trying to steal seulgi’s heart and enters her dreams. That’s why irene is seen waiting besides seulgi’s bed while she is sleeping. In the scenes where seulgi has dark eye makeup, she meets irene in her dreams. The next scene seulgi has a gun which suggests that she is aware of what irene is and now she is the one trying to hunt her. The lyrics say “ it’s time for the red sun to rise at dawn” this is when irene will crumble under the sun and leave seulgi’s dreams. We don’t know if seulgi escapes irene but they end up switching positions at the end of the music video so that might mean something. I hope this helped :))

It's inspired by the Novel Camilla ! (Maybe i'm not sure) A novel about a Woman vampire who was "in love" with a woman. It's a very very old novel so they didn't say it was lesbian but yeah... Lot of undertone. It as been adapted since then in a lot of form ! :D
