Roy is on the top of my wish list. Affordable defensive d-man, and another guy with Michigan roots. As much as I’d prefer Maatta over Petry, only one of those guys has any trade value at the moment. If we’re letting Perron walk, then I’d love to see the Dakota Joshua signing, giving Kasper or Mazur another year in GR, with either them being the first call ups after injuries, assuming they’re waiver exempt.

Dont know how you can fit another d into this roster. With Johansen and Edvisnson on the roster, thats 8 d. Im guessing they r going to shed one of those d, but to add another, they would have to move 2, unless they carry 8 d on the active roster.

@@doozey365 Like I said, I'd trade Maatta which would put us at 7 Dmen after someone like Roy is added. Using the buyout option on Holl (trading him seems unlikely) would save around $2.3mil cap space, Maatta would be $3mil savings. That puts the Wings really close to the %5.8mil salary AFP projects Roy at, trading Holl would get us there if it could be swung. As mentioned I'd also be willing to let Perron walk which in theory would provide more than enough space for Roy. Walman-Seider Edvinsson-Roy Chiarot-Petry, with Johansson 7th in rotation The main cost in this scenario would be potentially letting Perron walk. I think adding Mazur/Kasper/Danielson to the roster and the much improved defense is a more than acceptable trade-off. Also, you could keep Perron but with either a contract that's really team friendly for both Perron & Roy or by signing DeMelo, Carrier, or Tanev (etc) that would still be clear upgrades over Chiarot/Petry at 2RD but likely cost less than Roy. I added Kasper below but Copp/Berg would allow adding any of Mazur/Kasper/Danielson. DeCat-Larkin-Kane Joshua-Compher-Raymond Berggren-Kasper-Copp Ras-Veleno-Fischer I think the fundamentally small changes I mention are either completely in the Wings control or make the one trade easier to pull off (trading Maatta is easier than Holl) with the end result making the overall team better. The better defense should help Seider/Walman with their ice time and matchups and should really help the goalies with fewer defensive lapses.

Fully agree, its unlikely to happen. I would say I could easily see Maatta traded and a buyout of Holl though, which is my main "moves" different from the video. The Gustovsson-Fabbri trade seems crazy to me. Detroit likely signs Perron and Kane walks, though I'm guessing Kane forces that. Those two/three changes make the roster look alot less interesting.

You be getting ahead of yourself Bro. They need to at least reach NHL level before any of those concepts... Most our prospects only project as 3rd or 4th liners so they may not even have future trade value

@@laonpowell6823 You don't get ranked in the top 5 of prospect talent and not have valuable trade pieces other teams would want. So they are spot on with their assessment since not all of the prospects will be on the team in the future and some will be traded for draft capital or in package deals for NHL ready players.

We need everyone of our prospects haha Prospects that don't project top 6forward or Top4 D don't have much trade value and those are the prospects we want because we don't have alot of them haha We ranked high in prospect rankings cause we have a shit ton of NHL eligible players but in terms of elite level prospects we don't have much unless you count Simon as a prospect

We've got our 1C... also, not a lot of teams are putting their top-line Center on the market. A 2C? That's a bit more reasonable, but Danielson projects as a top-6 Center, and is possibly a year away. Compher is serviceable as a placeholder as long as they can put another offensive winger in there. I think that a package w/ Fabbri, Berggren, Johansson, Soderblöm, etc + 1st round pick _might_ be the best move, depending on who's gonna be tradeable this offseason. The Wings could also worry about bigger issues, such as goaltending.

Well it would be very tough to fill all the holes this offseason. Maybe just add 1-2 solid pieces then bring up some youth the following season.

More? Bergrren and Albert are almost guaranteed to be on team. Almost postive after tradedeadline Nate/Mazur/Kasper/Cossa all get some games Mazur might even make team outright... and if injuries happen we'll definitely have games before trade deadline.... That's a ton of youth movement.. So what are you talking about?

@@laonpowell6823 just saying that if our top draft picks are taking longer than their peers to make their teams maybe we drafted the wrong guys. I think at least one of Kasper, Mazur, Danielson makes the team and I'm not worried rn but if none of them make the team out of camp you can't tell me you're not a little worried about the future. If they have a good camp and only play half of the season in the NHL that's one thing but it can't be the case that they only get games after the deadline bc eventually all of these guys need to be on the team and it can't be all at once in 2 years. So yes I am worried if none of those three make the team bc for a team coming out of a rebuild this team is too old and if this core challenges for cups it's going to be off their backs not off of Patrick Kane's. Does that clarify my point?

@@Joel-ch1lu I understood the first time but Thanks. Example: Simon was a beast at end of season and having him in Rapids was the right move he needed it. So why are you rushing Kasper? It's not an opinion.. it's a fact you're rushing things by 1 yr. For 2nd example Wright, Gauthier, Savoie pretty much entire 2022 draft class are not in NHL yet... again you're a yr early. In terms of Mazur he's a 2nd round pick so you need to add additional yr and yet he might make team this yr. That all being said Nate and Kasper when drafted most likely ceiling is 2nd line C and most realistic is 3rd line C.. which is Fine. Yzerman understood all this when he decided not to trade Larkin and tank for Bedard Draft which is completely fine. So far I have no issues with SY. It'll be interested what he does this off season.

I think they were surprised at how good his camp was after coming off that injury but they already signed guys to take that role. When it comes to their peers those guys you mentioned I think all will be in the NHL next year. I understand our guys won't all be ready but after all the picks we've had they need to start getting NHL games under their belt sooner rather than later. I respect your point I think we just disagree on development philosophy

You don't bring up youth for the sake of bringing up youth they have to earn their way onto the roster. Everyone seems to forget how the team was run when Yzerman was a player. Prospects come up when they are ready to step into a role and not before. When the Wings brought up players in the past, those players stepped in without missing a beat and played like they belonged and not to just get experience.

1. That's not how LTIR works. Husso will be ready to play this season 2. I'd shoot Petry into outer space. I don't mind Chiarot on bottom pair 3. Done deal 4. Love it 5. No shot, don't want Reimer back even for that price 6. $6 a year? I'm in 7. Fleury is a million years old and Minny just signed him. They won't trade him 8. I like Fischer Here's your problem; cap space. You can't just LTIR Husso just because you want to, so his 4.75 is on the books. Chiarot and Petry will be making a combined 7 million on the fourth pair (not playing). So you won't have any space to really do anything a note. Maybe enough room to sign a Dakota Joshua type player. If you think I'm a bad GM I urge you to go give it a try on CapFriendly. Not as easy as you think!

@@HealthyScratchRedWingsReport I was only foolin! One problem is that you CAN LTIR players, and our GM won't do it. Tampa has done it, Vegas has done it, Colorado has done it. The Red Wings need to take advantage of Husso's injury history. Adding 4 mil of cap space is big. What do you have the cap space set at for next year? 87 mil?

Edvinsson needs a full spot on the team, so does Berggren. Also bringing up Cossa as a backup and get rid of Reimer and Husso. Please no Marner 💀

@@leviklynstra8975 Edvinsson being moved up was a given and the reason for shedding a dman while also not signing Gost. Cossa being forced up isn't necessary nor effective. And don't let the Leaf Fan propaganda spoil you. He's the best of their big 4 in the playoffs.

Marner is going to get north of 10 mil all day, if you think we have cap problems now then imagine how bad it would be with Marner. That means less depth and we’re starting to sound like Toronto. One big difference though we don’t have an Austin Mathews or a Nylander. Even if we could make a deal for Marner, which I highly doubt we could, it would be a terrible idea.

With the cap increase, I think it's the Heiskanen 8.5 is prob what MO will be asking for. Razor WILL want Stutzle's 8.35, and will prob get it. If Yzerman gets them Down to say 7-8 years by 8mil, I'd call that a win.

Stamkos isn't leaving Tampa unless Tampa specifically tells him they don't want him. Which would look bad on their part. Might also signal potential retool in Tampa like the Rangers did a few years back.

When I said realistic yea, be prepared for that. I think one guy (Kasper/Mazur) will make it in. Johansson is a rookie, he will have to earn a spot. So no it’s not ridiculous

If you want to risk it then sure run it with Husso and Lyon I have no problem with that. When I say realism I mean there’s only so much money. So if you want a guy like Matt Roy for the blue line then someone else doesn’t get signed. Who would you want to upgrade the goaltending?

@@HealthyScratchRedWingsReport I’m fine with taking the risk of Husso and Lyon if they get better on the blue line and get better defense from their forwards. Moneypuck, evolving hockey, and natural stat trick expected goal models all had Detroit goalies combine to face more than 252 expected goals. Most teams that gave up less made the playoffs. Getting better defensively is the better step to take with the limited money they have than hoping for a better goalie to stand on his head most every game.

I agree with your opinion on the goalies. Husso and Lyon both have one year left, just let them ride it out. But Ghost did not drive offense at 5v5. He was 3rd in points behind Petry and Mo, and had the exact same xGF/60 as Mo despite being one of the most sheltered players on the team.

@@jennifermorris9985 I think he just mispoke in regard to the 5v5 comment He is totally wrong though when thinking it's priority to get a 2nd 5v5 RD You only need "1" RD for 5v5 and one for PP1... so you only need 2 RD and if you have a guy who can do both than technically you could do with only 1 People forget the 07 cup team only had "1" RD in Rafalski in the playoffs and during regular season our 6th Dman was Chelios who was RD but he was 6th! and not playing on PP.

Not sure where the Berggren narrative is coming from. If it’s the contract thing I never saw that as an issue seeing they have his RFA rights

Really don't care about Perron but March is his best friend and he loves Detroit so if hes willing to be a cheap healthy scratch than "yes" I also don't care about Gost but if we have the Cap space we might as well sign him but I do want the young guys to get a look on pp1> I really want Kakko as we desperately need someone w/ suparstar potential. According Cap Friendly still have $1M in Capspace and most these deals are 2-3yrs. Raymond signed 8x7.875 matching CAT. Seider signed 3x4.75 matching Chiarot. I don't believe Seider will ever reach above $7M/yr IMO as I don't believe in his offense. So might as well bridge him.
