This might sound a little bit crazy but I read this on a support thread and it miraculously fixed my ipod. if you lick around the edges of the ipod, just enough to get it a little bit damp, then with the palm of your hand slam hard, but not as hard as you can, your palm against the front screen. The apple sign should pop up. Immediately start toggling the hold, then press and hold the pause/ play button. The Ipod then should be working like brand spanking new! :) I dont know how but it works!
Hey ! I was having the same problem and i managed to fix it. All i did was open the iPod , Disconnect the hard drive, wiped the contact tip with a cloth and then reconnected it back. It works perfectly fine now !
Ok, so this whole smacking the ipod method might work for some of you. I dropped mine in water a while back and just figured the hd got wrecked. I made the mistake of smashing it a little too hard and now it won't turn on at all haha. But prior to trying this I did not hear any noise coming from the hd when I tried rebooting it, after smacking it a few times I noticed it started the hd back up again and instead of showing the red x with the circle it showed the restore screen. So it did something. I just recommend you don't hit it too hard. haha
you have to really smack it hard for it to work!!! mine was showing the red x for about two years until today. it really works!! you had to really smack it though..
While pressing the central button and menu dakle a few knocks on the ground on the right side, I gave it like 20 and served me, and that was the only way
I just had that problem. It was the multiconnector-strip from the hardrive that partly had slipped out of the connector to the mainboard. It just had to be reinserted properly and then everything worked again: NB: It is difficult to open the iPod.
I did think this was a load of Bullshit like one or two other "tips" you tend to find on RU-vid, so I was quite sceptical. However, I thought "sod it!" and slapped the ipod into the palm of my hand whilst the apple logo was showing. Bugger me with a coracle! It worked!
after more than 3 weeks and really bad mode because of my lovely ipod is showing this red X and after throwing oit so many times in home and work, i put the ipod in the freeze and forgot it for three days. then, i smack it with my wallet and it is working fine. I'm uploading my musics in the playlists now :)
dude its a mystery ive done the same thing but if it helps wen it turns on press menu and centre and wen it turns off press centre to play button wen it gets to the red cross repeat it hope it works
Hey Bro, in my opinion I think there is something wrong with the HDD inside the ipod. Try opening the ipod and cleaning the connections where hard drive is connected. If it works, fine or else there is serious broblem with the ipod HDD.
