RedBirch Comic Dub Episode 1 || A Warrior Cats OC Comic 

OK OK OK IM FINISHED, I have soooo much to say about this. Spoilers below for the whole episode and apologies for the grammar mistakes! I’m so in awe with the art, editing, voice acting and story! Even though I’ve already gotten the spoilers and information from the Casting call I still held these feelings throughout the video. First of I’ll with the beginning. Starting off very happy and wholesome with Thorntail and her marriage with yellow whathisface, immediately follow with her having kits. The scene resembled prologue and like the usual prologues, is supposed to be the start of something and that something was emphasized to be the kits lives (Thorntail being warrior > becoming mates > giving birth = all leads to introduction of the kits, ended there). That had set the expectations that Bubblekit, Sparkkit and Willowkit were the protagonists for me, as it usually is. Now onto our expected heroes. Huge time skip, then here goes the “kit going to start their new journey” POV, setting the line on where the prologue ended and the main story is starting, as it usual goes. But wait, this isn’t one of the protagonists I was expecting 🤔. He didn’t even exist in the super important Prologue where key elements to the main story are introduced. Oh Bubblekit is already Bubblepaw? Now he’s in the “bully” side character role? Heck all the siblings seem like the side characters here, so I guess they weren’t the important heroes to the story. Though they were humanized in my eyes and I felt bad that they had to stay. OHHH now we ditched the random kit POV and now we’re focusing on the expected protagonists and their mother, their stories are the main story after all. Oh wait now we’re following Thorntail? So that scene was actually meant to be about Thorntail’s story? I thought Thorntail was just going to be in the “parent of Protag’s POV” role though looks like she’s not. That scene with Thorntail seeing Sparkpaw’s eerie self was so shocking, what happened to Sparkpaw, if she’s important than she must have plot armour, right? Does that one cat have something to do with it? Oh look we’re back to the apprentices alive, so they are important after all. But I’m aware this is supposed to be what was happening before Thorn saw Spark, so there is something wrong. And wow they DIED. The characters they were seemingly executed to be the main characters, died within the first episode. What a subversion of expectations! Willowpaw’s death was just brutal and was a wake up slap on what really happening right now. And the way Bubble and his other sister died… the way they didn’t make a sound with they faces expressing hopelessness and holding in pain. It was sad. And it showed me characters don’t need to me wide-eyed and screaming to show how cruel the situation is, it was unexpectedly calmer than intense panic. It was all expected and all they can do is accept, very haunting. Plus we got shown of Sparkpaw potential story had she lived long enough for us to see, via crush. And now they’re finally confirmed to not be the main characters, but who is? Is it really Thorntail, the seemingly one role parent character? Is the random kitten REALLY important? How important is Goldentail here, is she going to be a main character too? Now onto the antagonist. Birchstar is downright terrifying. Every time she appears on screen I get chills with her facial expressions tied with the voice acting and music. You nailed the job Windrex! And how her plan was executed put me on edge as I knew something horrible is going to go down right from the start. With the connection I had and plan to have with Bubblepaw, Sparkpaw and Willowpaw just added on and how disturbing she is. Plus her weird dead boyfriend, how much power does he have? Are they just unstoppable? He’s so charming but so detestable so far. Amazing villains honestly. Goldentail’s character definitely played a huge role in this. Seeing that Goldentail is the only one that noticed and nobody else care, with Birchstar’s manipulation and crimes committed. It’s interesting to know that had everyone listened to Golden, the leader may have gotten caught. The villain’s behaviour towards her gives us more about her villainy. The Golden she-cat’s role makes me very invested on what’s next of her. Her voice acting is flawless! Coldkit has me hooked on seeing more of him. So far he’s shrouded in mystery, though we know he must have somewhat of an importance if he got a POV and the other children are dead. I mean having the “child” main character is very likely in most kid books I’ve read and this is Warrior cats-related which is a kid’s book (although it doesn’t have to be so don’t feel stuck in a box all you Warrior cats fanfic writers!). Now let’s talk about the art, which is gorgeous! Woah. I’ve realized that the pages change from White, Grey to dark grey depending on the time of day and that is GENIUS. Perhaps I’ll implement that into my projects if I’m allowed of course. The art style, anatomy, effects and designs are stunning. The expressions, the expressions! The noticeable ones are the strong ones and every time Birchstar’s face is shown. The lighting is so wow. Pretty! It’s atmospheric and makes me feel like I’m in the scene along with these other factors. The Editing, Music + sound effects. This comic is so well edited and paced. The music and sound effects are well chosen, REALLY WELL CHOSEN. A lot of these scenes wouldn’t have hit the same had it not been for them, especially Birchstar. And the editors really know when to use them and when to not. For example is the scene with Thorntail seeing Sparkpaw, where all the background audio starting to dumb down and silence. Then the sound effects came back when waking up Bubble but not the audio. However, the music starts when intense things are going down. Finally, the voice acting. The voice actors did a splendid job at their roles. Even if some of them didn’t have the mic quality of a professional, I was actually into that with the series. It made me feel like I’m watching a non professional/non famous series in which I am on the same level. This will build a small community where it’s easy to feel apart of mainly cause no toxicity plus each individual’s impact on it is bigger and easier to be big. And it also made me feel nostalgic of older series/projects, since they’re not professional in everything either. Nostalgic makes me feel wistful. Perfect and not perfect are both perfect in their own ways. Congrats on all who were casted though I’m sure it was a tough choice seeing the quality of all the other auditions ^^ These voices are iconic to these characters to me now, it’ll be hard to see them changed. But I hope the Backups will have their spotlight soon or/and in another way if needed. Anddddd this marks the end of my review. Keep it up and I’m excited to what’s next!

I had a feeling that when ( I forget the name of the broken ankle cat ) she started to blush I was like " well it won't be warrior cats if a characters lover dies and not happy ever happens in the books" ( I'm some what new as in I have read from into the wild all the way up to the ashfur arc and yes I have to tell anyone who see this that I'll call any arc when firestar is alive his whole arc ik it may confused a lot but I'm doing it so I don't get confused myself and as for the other part I call ashfur arc since the only thing I remember is the fire scene and it's been a long time since I've read the books and trying to get some stuff while making my OCS sooo yeah. Love your comic can't wait for EP 2
