These Native American Masters are the best and it is a damn sin that they are not in the Hall of Fame. Listen to their music- you will see that they are EXCELLENT. Come and Get Your Love, indeed....
I remember watching Redbone on Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert and Midnight Special as a kid in Ohio. My Mom always let me stay up to watch these awesome shows. They had the best bands on.
I used to wait till Mum and Dad were asleep and sneak down. Later I learned that they knew just what I was doing, but thought that since since I was mostly a good kid (I had my moments) they'd just leave me be.
I listen to Redbone music everyday. I am native as well. These guys are amazing guitarist. The drummer is awesome. Come get your love is my ringtone on my phone. Keep on amazing Redbone.
Lolly and Pat Vegas look awesome in those sparkling Nudie suits. Nudie Cohn made the coolest outfits back in the 1970s. Redbone is such an underrated band and they had so many awesome songs other than the song everyone knows them for, Come and get your love. Their entire album, Wovoka, is amazing and has so many good songs.
Yes, underrated by some but even as a 14 year old and at the time I knew this was great music and the talent over the top. This is a precious gem because I never got to see them live and I missed this when it was originally broadcast. Grateful that this is on RU-vid after all these years. ❤️
These guys were mostly Mexican American, the singer & bass player were brothers named, Vasquez-Vegas, they were from southern California. They were about as native as CCR was cajon
Hopefully in due time. The Vegas brothers could sing, play and write. Not widely known is that Pat Vegas (the bassist) wrote the theme for "The Munsters". Pat and Lolly were part of several club house bands in LA in the late 60s and Lolly Vegas played his guitar through a Leslie organ speaker which gave him a unique sound. Jimi Hendrix was a fan (and also was part Native American) and encouraged the two brothers to form a band that embraced their heritage.
I loved this and when I first seen them perform on tv. I can't remember if it was the midnight special or this show. They rocked then and still today rip lolly and his brother and any other members of this iconic band
You don't realize how many people love you guys! It is Awesome! And I don't think I am Native American and I don't care either way, I love your music! It's in my blood!
Actually I first heard of Redbone when I was babysitting for this lady, she would let me play her records and she had Redbone's Potlatch album; the Chant 13 Hour and Alcatraz were my favorite off that album, the lady I babysat for gave me the album for my babysitting, and I had to get every other Redbone album I could get my hands on
I opened for them at the legendary Yale otl in Vancouver 20 years ago. Epic party afterward, too. Sat with Pat and sang songs together and laughed and told stories. Fun times.
Man, do I remember coming home after a night of doing whatever it was a young, teenaged Hippie Chick did back then just in time to watch this band. I was smitten from the first note! I had never seen an Indian band before, and I had never seen a traditional Indian dance and that man's legs were in my dreams later on!! They deserve to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame now, and not after Jay Zee or any other Rap band. Mitakuye Oyasin!!
It is simply crazy having such a huge crush on a guy who has been gone, but not forgotten, for 12 years. It is like you said, so many times, Lolly, "cause you're fine, wish you were mine and you look so divine." Gosh, what a dandy, hotty you were and are. The rest off REDBONE, my, oh my, you guys are great runner-ups, it's just that you are not LOLLY. Sorry, Risa, but he lives forever in my dreams. You were one lucky gal, to have had him for all the years that you did. Hail. Farewell. Be Well.
The Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame will never, ever be complete, until REDBONE is in it. Simply do not know how, they could have been overlooked for this long, when they are the extremely, talented musicians that they are. SUZY
How I was not in love with this band is beyond me, I'm at the right age, but for the life of me I don't remember them, come and get your love , yes but the band I don't remember, they were awesome... I so would have been in love with these guys...
All hale to Ryan for this one! Classic vintage that brings this "O. G." to humble tears. In this present day and time, I have to to think hard for meaningful music that reflects human love. Again in my heart, these four gifted beautiful people true to their culture, loyal to their heritage and proud of their ancestors, makes my heart long for a time that was.

Every November is "Native American Month"-- so, listen to the "Native American Themed' songs of Redbone, including: 1. JERICO 2.WOVOKA 3.MESSAGE FROM A DRUM 4. CHANT 13TH HOUR (WHICH INTRODUCED FIRST EARTH DAY IN 1970) 5. RED AND BLUE (ALSO INTRODUCED FIRST EARTH DAY IN 1970) 6.WE WERE ALL WOUNDED AT WOUNDED KNEE 7. CUSTER HAD IT COMING 8.NIJI TRANCE 9. ALCATRAZ (dealing with Native American protest & occupation of Alcatraz island) Of course, there are MANY other great songs: my favorites are " When You Got Trouble", "One More Time", "Crazy Cajun Cakewalk Band", "Maggie", Witch Queen of New Orleans", and "One Monkey"- Take a listen!
I just stumbled upon another clip of Redbone singing Come and Get Your Love a few days ago and am just blown away by this group! Have spent the past few days just listening to all their songs. They are now my second favorite band (Journey's my first), and Lolly is now my second favorite singer (Steve Perry's my first). Lolly is such a hottie!! Love all the closeups of the him - just watching his lips and his eyebrow lift when he hits those notes is sooooooo hot! At 16:10, he has that "Don't F**k with me" look- so sexy! Whoa - gives me the chills! Love Tony and Pat too - so energetic and love their bouncing around the stage! This just goes to show that a 4-piece band can create so much sound without all the autotune and whatnot nonsense that the current "bands" now depend on. Pure musical talent!!
Redbone may be gone but that allsome voice he had still pumps up my sole everytime I here redbone oh what a allsom man he was still in love with him after all thes years 63 still jamming to redbone
Lolly Vegas was a Native American-Mexican musician. He played in numerous ensembles alongside his brother Pat, including Pat & Lolly Vegas, the surf group The Avantis and the Native American rock group Redbone. Born: October 2, 1939, Fresno, CA Died: March 4, 2010, Reseda, Los Angeles, CA Such a great band. Unusual, poignant, meaningful....
I love the way Lonnie Vegas does that la la la Lolly it just reminds me of his name cuz he doesn't in quite a few songs I've been listening to him since the '60s thank you for listening to me
LALO Lovely Lolly. Thanks much for the sensational song "Suzy Girl", cause that's my name. Makes a girl dream. La La La! Here is a small code name for Lolly... Lo for Lolly and Ve for Vegas...LoVe. Oh Yeah! Rock On!
I was lucky to pick up an original 1973 RedBone concert poster & with poster was Redbone business card for Pat Vegas with Redbone contact details at local swapmeet, seller said these were included with other items in storage unit he purchased - made me so happy..
I've always heard Come and Get Your Love, but never knew the bands name until a couple days ago. They have so much soul in their voices, and I'm excited to learn they are First Nation and were so loved back in the day.
Ich, Jahrgang 1958, kenne die Lieder dieser Gruppe von Anfang an. Die waren ja auch live ein absoluter Knaller. Das wusste ich bis eben nicht.😊😊😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I was only 6yrs old back in 1970 & I never knew that these guys were all Native American Indians, til about 18mnths ago😵...... But I always loved their music, especially Come & Get Your Love song....... That was one ofy favorite songs back in the 70's....... Love Redbone
I'm embarassed to say I never knew these cats were a native/xicano/mexicano band - this just popped up in my feed. You gotta go check out the recent re=make of the video....dope as f.
O man! These guys are putting a spell on me with their music, their performance and their appearance - even after their own death! Isn't this mystical?
