I bought this a few days ago and I am blown away by the flavor, smell, and drinkability of this Irish whiskey. That's when I decided to look up a video reaction and you did not disappoint.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it! Redbreast 12 is definitely a great whiskey, but approachable enough that it's a wonderful intro into the top shelf Irish whiskeys while still offering something for seasoned drinkers!

So glad to see you update this Matt! And with this whiskey, well deserved. We're the same way... whenever we're asked for a recommendation, you know you can't go wrong with Redbreast or Writer's Tears. This was great to see!

I know so many scotch drinkers who hold this as their favourite Irish whiskey. It’s right up there for me too, and always good to revisit a whisky to see how your tastes may have changed.

Exactly! It's a great little whiskey, and always good to rivisit old familiars with fresh eyes

Boom! Great minds think alike! We're doing a review of this cask strength release for our St. Patty's Day beverage. This version is a tasty dram indeed and one everyone should try. Cheers.

A great Irish IMO. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I caught wind of a cask strength on sale, but when I drove out, they were sold out. That said, even the regular is a great dram. Thanks for sharing!

Dang! I'm sure you'll pick one up eventually, and until then, the normal RB12 is still a great dram

Just got into whiskey a couple of months ago. More specifically Irish whiskey. I only have 3 bottles in my cabinet. This is one of them and I absolutely love it. The other ones are Green Spot and Dingle Batch 6. Living in Ontario, Canada getting the Dingle was a bit of a chore. I actually ordered it from a UK on-line store. Had it delivered to a USA city just about a 1 hour drive from me in Canada. Picked it up this past Saturday. Had my 1st drink of it Saturday evening whilst watching my Toronto Maple Leafs play hockey. Wow it's a great whiskey too. Love your reviews and videos. Keep up the great reviews. Oh and I ordered on-line a couple of the Tuath glasses. Really enjoy drinking from them.Cheers Pat from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Cheers Pat! That's one massive quest to get the Dingle, but the batch 6, with all that port influence, is soo good. Another Irish whiskey (with a Canadian twist) you could keep an eye out for would be the Writers Tears, or Two Stacks whiskeys which were finished in Canadian ice wine casks! I've not really tried many Canadian whiskeys, are there any outstanding bottles you would recommend?

@@TheWhiskeyNerd Hi, I'm new to the hobby. Funnily enough I have only tried the Irish ones
@TheWhiskeyNerd
@TheWhiskeyNerd Год назад
@@patlaporte7627 there's a lot to love in the Irish category, but I do always recommend exploring others. For example, my better half doesn't usually like bourbons (despite being American) but she's found a few she likes, so it's always fun to keep exploring new horizons. Cheers to your journey!

Terrific review and awesome humour Matt!! 🙂 I like Red Breast 12, and I recently was finally able to get a bottle of Red Breast Lustau and I really want to try it. A friend suggested it and I will open it on St. Patrick's Day. Very enjoyable review with Red Breast 12 and I always learn so much! Love that! The Writers' Tears Single Pot Still is one I also recommend along with Red Breast 12. I have a bottle of 12 yo Knappogue Castle Irish Whisky that was a gift and I think it goes for about $90 a bottle in Vancouver. Have you ever tried it? I have no knowledge about it at all. It's always lovely to be gifted a nice bottle of Irish Whisky, Single Malt Scotch or a fabulous Rye! I have a Tipperary Watershed Irish Whisky right now, The Irishman 12 yo., Waterford - The Cuvee, Powers Three Swallow, $65, Yellow Spot Irish Whisky, Clonakilty Single Batch Double Oak. My husband bought that one and The Waterford - newer ones we are trying here and there with a nice pour. I really like the Powers and Clonakilty, $85. Have you tried these as well? I value your input a lot. We are newish to Irish Whisky and have mostly enjoyed Scottish Single Malt Whiskies. This enjoyment and fun checking out new bottles can get pricey! Cheers Matt!! 🙂

The Lustau is definitely a great dram to open on St Patrick's Day, little more ABV that the 12, and more sherry influence. I've tried the Knappogue Castle, but have yet to get a full bottle and do a review, but I liked the dram I had. I've tried most of those other ones you listed, really enjoyed the Yellow Spot and Three Swallow. I thought the Waterford Cuvee was better than the 'single farm' releases they did. Thank you for your kind words and YES! Trying all these lovely whiskeys can be expensive! Are there any whiskey clubs near you? I'm in one in Dublin and it's a great way to taste a lot, but not SPEND a lot!

I just wish rb 12 was 46% One of the reasons I don't buy it more regularly is it is 40%

You had a bad haircut back then? What's changed since (says the bald prick?) 🤣🤣 For me, it's a great pour, but has been overtaken by the advances in Irish whiskey in recent years. Still a fine dram though, just too expensive these days for me. Great review mate.
