I remember the night we recorded this rocking Bailey's Cathedral- My God what a night, sang my heart out and though I was terribly hoarse the next day....it was all worth it!!!
My God what can I say here !!!! This song takes me back to my church here in Columbus, Ga the Prayer and Faith Temple COGIC.When I was eight years old St.Marys COGIC of Courtland,Al came down and sang this.To hear this song after so many years makes a 40 year old P.K smile. This takes me back to choir rehearsals.Bible Band,YPWW,Purity Class etc.Thank God for youtube and the posting of this and many other "Old School" songs. Now can I get a "Yes Lord"
@@TheGreatReturnbyAzariyah ... I definitely know Pastor/Bishop Larry Gilyard (Christian Fellowship) and I knew the late Bishop/Pastor Prince James at Bethlehem Healing Temple in Phenix City,Alabama ... His son in law Pastor's there now (Perfecting Love Ministries).
I remember the night we recorded this back in the 70's. I was holding down the tenor section, my mom, her best friend the late JoAnn Cotton and Karen Clark holding down the soprano section- That night's recording was one of many annointed night's just one of our many recording sessions inside of Bailey's Cathedral- Dr. Mattie Moss Clark was a phenomenal perfectionist who's presence would light up a room just by her walking into a room-
Our musicals/recordings lasted way into the next morning and still I went to school later that morning with the biggest smile on my face and very hoarse-LOL.I was the youngest tenor in the Michigan State Choir & Michigan State Community Choir. This as well as many many midnight musicals/recordings is something i'll never ever forget.
lyric Redeemed my soul has been redeemed Redeemed my soul has been redeemed Redeemed my soul has been redeemed He washed my robe in his precious blood Altos: Ahh.. Hallalujah.. Ahh supranos: Lelujah... tenors: Le...
Not just the dust, but the fair ivory! Bless you. Mattie Moss Clark didn't play when it came to sing. You had to bring lung + diaphragm. Rest on Mother Clark. She was good!
It was a blessing and honor too have been in this chior the state chior founded by the dr m.m.clark bring back the days of boy Twinkie put a hurting on us.
I was a teenage about 16 the National Choir of the Original Glorious Church of the Apostolic Faith marched in on this song during our Young People's Convention
This song was actually recorded at a UNAC-5 meeting in New Orleans in 1977 and Twinkie was on the organ but the drummer is a guy named Apostle Allen White.
I remember when we we recorded this. This album was a mixture of exerpts from UNAC now called AIM & recordings we had in archive with SOG (Sound Of Gospel-record company) and music from Bailey's Cathedral recordings. Redeemed was written by Iris Stevenson and was recorded live at Bailey's Cathedral.I remember the night like it was yesterday and the Lord came in and truely blessed-those folks shouted something terrible many times during the recording.
Whaaaaaat!! What you know about my folks in the H?? Carl used to hull every musician till they couldn't play behind him. The two organists that Twinkie would scoot aside for in the 70s were Carl Preacher and Derrick Jackson (Thomas Whitfield on the piano)
I Remember when my mother let me hear this recording it was all over then I learned every song and I have taught them all I think except Calvery lol and Twinkie is eating up that Organ Lord I think this whole album showed Twinkies ability to the fullest if you have it you know what I mean she plays everything like she wrote it and Karen Sings The Will Of God like Mr. Clean Wrote it just for her Thanks love it
I had this on album but i'm glad I found the CD. This song was way ahead of it's time...and Twinkie KILLIN THAT ORGAN! The best song on the album. Kinda Funky!!!
I listen to this everyday! COGIC will do this song again... They would have to have that 3 part hamanoy right... because this choir is ROCKIN this..lol... there is a HEAVY anointing on this song
I taught this song at the baptist church where I'm minister of music and they ate it up!!! COGIC, let's go back to our roots!!! That Twinkie...woo!!! *This song was written by Professor Iris Stevenson (president of COGIC music department)
I was a kid in Memphis listening to WLOK radio at 9PM. It was the Bountiful Blessings Broadcast with Apostle GE Patterson. The music director was Stanley Patton and the Voices of Bountiful Blessing singing this song. Leroy Edwards and Tamara Lofton were the musicians..Bountiful Blessings Deliverance Church went on to make COGIC History.
@Johnzoe777 I lift my head my voice shall ring I've got a song that thee angels cannot sing my soul's redeemed, my soul's redeemed. No can you post " And Ye Shall Be Saved and Worthy Is The Lamb from this same lp please??
OMG!!! I scared my little brother because he was like what happened lol...My mom before my time and their choir use to march in to this song Pentecostal Power Church Benton Harbor, MI under the directorship of Bro. Clarence Holloway.
@1991Jazzalian Same here....I wanna do one of those old school choir march in's steps...actually this was the march in song for my mom's church choir back in the day.
yes at that time I was very young(too young to sing in any choir other than kids) but Bountiful Blessings was really the model. Stanley Patton could make music come to life. I still remember the feeling hearing the chords. Yes, Leroy was great. Only heard of Tamara Lofton but they say she was excellent.
I was turned on to this back in the semi late 70's by a guy name Peter Ray, here in Baltimore. Of course being a Larry Graham fan back then, all I could do was but pump it over the top, I thought I was going to be put out of the church for playing to secular. I knew then, Gospel music will get wicked from here on out.
I'm told that is Actually Carl Preacher on the organ, Not Twinkie Clark. He was a great organist as well and a founding member of SW Inspirational Choir.
I knew Carl Preacher...An awesome organist in the Houston area for years... Southeast Inspirational Choir set the standard back in the day.... This sounds more like Twinkie to me on the organ, but I wouldnt doubt it at all if this was Carl Preacher. eithe
These people new how to master music. They could take secular music and remix so that you would not know it. Now it's soooooo obvious that we try straight Hip/Hop right in the church. Now for clarity. This is totally Anointed and Ministering Music. They took the music back and placed it where it belonged.
Thanks! Cause, of course, I was guessin'! It's been 40 years since singing this at a Youth Conference when Ms. Stephenson taught it to us, before the recording.
I love this song I remember it from back in the days we need Dr Clark today
