As I sat there watching this video on my computer, I couldn't help but wonder why I was more excited watching you shoot this buck than to see many other people succeed. I think that it's because in some ways, many of us hunters consider you our leader. We listen to what you say, try to implement what you teach and look to you for whitetail wisdom from someone who hunts like the rest of us. And when the leader succeeds, you in some way feel a part of it and the team succeeds. That was an awesome video start to finish! Congratulations on a giant! Please give Carol a hug from all of us for letting you go hunting on her birthday! What a gift for all of us, but especially you! What a well deserved giant!!!

The reason for the increased pressure on public these days is a direct result of channels like this one and the Hunting Public. Whether that’s a good thing or bad is not for me to decide. I like watching both. What a beast buck!!!

Can anyone tell me how many inches this buck would score? I live in the south and was just curious. I had a buddy in ks (where I grew up) shoot a 300 lb buck but his rack looked little compared to his body. It scored 165 inches if I remember right. My buddie's buck looked like a 120 inch deer compared to its body.

I have been bowhunting for 50 years. I think totally opposite of how you think. I believe in 100% of myself and equipment. And I know there something out there thar will make my heart beet faster. One thing I have learned in 50 years, you never know what will walk around the next corner. That'd a bow hunter.

Good job Dan, sometimes it's hard to stay positive, but usually it pays off. Just listened to a podcast, and you mentioned you are itching to slaughter some hogs. I'm planning a spring hunt on public in Oklahoma. I would be honored for you to join me. I live in northern Missouri. And have other out of state hunts planned for spring turkey along with hogs.

I missed the biggest Buck of my life this afternoon. I have been learning a lot from you since I started watching your videos. I flat out missed. With my rifle. He was about 100 yards. I heard him grunting following does. Ive blown it the last 2 times now. I’m glad I missed instead of making a bad shot and wounding him but I’m still very disappointed. But after watching this I’m planning how I’m gonna sneak in that area tomorrow. I heard him grunting after I shot, I think there was another Buck over there which drew him out

Congratulations Dan .. I was hunting for one buck only 6 years ago. I saw him 10 times while farming or observation stand from 500 yards. The only time I finally saw him while hunting was a night everything seemed to go wrong. I had doe snort to my east close to 50 times in five minutes. They finally walked out and a half hour later he came from my south traveling downwind of bedding areas. His mistake was allowing me a broadside opportunity that worked out for a lifetime buck

It gets tough. It gets depressing sometime. With all the " hunters" in the woods these days it's really hard to target a big buck and be able to get in there where there aren't a bunch of idiots. It takes hard work. It takes pushing and pain. Then that one moment all the bs goes away and you wrap your hands around him and it gives you hope. It gives you pleasure. It gives you facts. That you it! I did it to Dan. Hell of a buck. It Gets tougher the older you get. I know. But as long as they're is a beat in my heart and a breath in my lungs i will push on. Congratulations on a heck of a buck.

Love watching your videos man. I enjoy all the tips ideas and advice you give. Has helped me a lot! I'm in northern Wisconsin where hunting can be difficult due to many reasons. I only bow hunt so I don't deal with a lot of pressure up here during Archery but there is other predators that have impacted us up here. If your ever up this way let me know I have a campsite you can use on the river I'd love to have ya for some home cooked hunters meals!

You mentioned the trend of big bucks on your first sit in a stand. I've always said that "you ruin a stand every time you hunt it". I try to limit my hunts per stand for just the ideal situations, or don't hunt at all.

Thats why its called the hunting beast. I think i learned something. Thank you. I tend to find sots but i only gunt them once feeling like i boogered things out from my scent. I hunt off the ground i very similar areas. Guess i just need to get in again with the right winds. I need me a north wind asap.

Every season lol the pressure i hunt toois insane man cell cams tree stanfs ladder stands every where. I found one spot now out of 6000 acres. We will see howlong its "mine".
