II LOVE LOVE YOUR DESIGNS BUTTT I do think that the designs fit perfectly into what the game is supposed to look like: A stereotypical dating sim, and while these designs are beautiful, i don't think this would be as much as a genre bender if they did have these. Of course, no hate!! (Edit: Also as someone who has the body type as Yuri, i really appreciate you making it more realistic.)

DDLC Plus expands on the characters and explores them a lot more than in the original game. It really takes the time to develop them, and the four girls feel a lot more human than they used to. I feel the potential they had in the original game is lived up to in DDLC Plus.

As a person that adore sayori I find it so strange to find people that thinks like you, she is my favorite ! I have to admit that her design is quite blend, but I love her personality and she allways give smiles to everyone ! And I find your redesign of her so lovely, she looks even more huggable now ! Your art is amazing and your commentary is very cool, also all the others girls look incredible as well

Because you just talk so naturally and easily and entertainingly, it felt like to me you were doing this for years, at least a couple of months. I always loved Monika smmmm She always gave me dark academia vibes and I thought some earthly tones would make her eyes stand out more. They're pretty much my favorite thing about her. Also, yes! The flat hair bugged me especially in Sayori- it makes her head look so round and looks like she has little to no hair lol Genshin redesigns would be cool! Although yeah, I can imagine it'd be hard oof

I personally view Sayori as my favourite girl, mainly because of her melancholic depressive side. Yuri is a close second because I can heavily relate to her as well.

I think you’re the only person on RU-vid who’s done a redesign video on ddlc, this is really good. I’m not sure about Sayori’s hair, but you read my mind about her clothes. I think this way it make her design more distinct and better foreshadows her depression.

I do think their design’s are deliberately meant to be simple, but I really love seeing everyone’s redesigns!! These ones are so interesting and really captivating

the reason the designs have such intense potential but mediocre execution is salvato intentionally told the artists to make them more dating game stereotypical anime looking than their og concepts - it's supposed to be uncanny and somewhat upsetting and contrast both the 3dness of their actual personalities and the later horror

i love your designs, and i think the reason you were having a little more trouble with redesigning monika was because you were trying to design the rest of the girls like they would look if they were real, while monika was already designed like she could be a real person, aware of everything, unlike the other girls! :)

These redesigns are pretty nice! The fringes for Yuri, Sayori, and Monika all pretty much being the same is a bit of a shame and I do miss Sayori's brighter hair, but overall really nice! Also love that you didn't change any of them so drastically that they no longer felt like "them". :] There are OODLES of mods for DDLC and I was obsessed with watching people play them for a good several years haha! You can definitely romance Monika in many, many mods so go ham. Also, Doki Doki Plus has more content that I really loved tbh, it fleshed them out a lot more I feel like. Might rewatch someone play through it actually, it's been a hot second.. anyway, great video! Your art is really pretty!!

Hello :)! First of all, I'd like to say that I really like your redesigns. Even though I absolutely ADORE the canon ones, your interpretation on them is well explained and is really well thought of, aside from being very very pretty :) (your twist on yuri is amazing I love her very much too lmfao) I just wanted to say that we can see Monika in casual clothes in some of the artworks! They're not in the original game, *but* you might want to take a look at "DDLC Plus" because it gives us a TON more of content with each character BEFORE the events of the actual game! (it's a DLC btw!) There is a lot of concept artworks, WIP, and new artworks we've never seen before that you can unlock by playing it :) (assuming you didn't know about this since you've played the game not a while ago!) If you don't want to play through the 5 hours of the DLC yourself, you can find playthroughs w/ no commentary on youtube already! :) Thank you for this video, is was really entertaining to watch

Natsuki has always been my favorite character, i felt like people never gave her enough credit. I dont care for the tsundere stereotype but shes very genuinely a nice girl with hobbies i would actually enjoy doing with her, and i appreciate how she tried to reach out to helping yuri in the second act, i dont think she deserves ant of the hate that is sometimes thrown her way for being "annoying"

I really love what you did for Sayori! Adding overalls something I thought would be cute for her character.

I mean, considering how skinny she was (with her not eating as much as she should) and how short she was, I thought it made some sense that she wears clothing that little girls were able to wear.

I think Natsuki is a little difficult to recognize, but with Monika on the same image (as she will undoubtedly be, as is the Monika way) its very easy to recognize the rest of the characters. Okay I've realized the polar opposites I have to the rest of the DDLC community after watching halfway through this 😭 I love natsuki and Sayori so much, because they are LITERALLY ME 😭 I have sayori's "trauma" (or whatever the right word is... and natsuki is a sweetie pie AUUGHHH her being a Tsundere almost just like me makes it kind of like that (and no, my dad isn't abusive, he's just kind of absent) and the whole "manga is literature" talk KILLS ME because I LOVE manga lol While Yuri kind of annoys me, always apologizing for nothing, making weir movements, and especially act 2, it makes me uncomfortable in her presence... (Poor MC's pen) and the whole "I've endowed my paper with my scent" (aka PISSING AND BLOOD ON IT) AND "I WANT TO CRAWL INSIDE YOUR SKIN" just makes me so nervous. (Maybe I don't like Yuri because I've been with manipulators using their shyness and apologies for attention and to make me feel bad, idk) And Monika is really decent, I loved her whole character in general, nothing is wrong, and nothing is right. It's a perfect balance. It's peaceful. Idk, I just wanted to rant for a bit 😁

At some point of the video i think you mentioned the therm 'fixing' the designs, which unless someone's talking about a design that is actually problematic, i don't really like that therm being used... they are really cute, but they all don't really look japanese..? ^^' sorry for being super picky, but i noticed they all have very eurocentric features, other than that i love how you changed up their designs but still kept the essence of their character !!

I love your redesigns of the DDLC girls and the vibe you give off! They truly build off of the original designs (which were great for their purpose and will always hold a special place in my heart) and add a sense of realness to them as actual high schoolers with individual, fleshed out personalities. I especially like Natsuki's redesign with her roots and improved casual outfit. Yuri's redesign somehow made me appreciate her so much more (as she's also my best girl) and Monika's/Sayori's really add to their character traits as well! I like to think that Sayori painted Natsuki's and Yuri's nails :)

“I didn’t like Sayori as much as the other girls because she has the most potential….” “I do see a lot of myself in her.” Oh dear. Edit: I like the designs for the most part. With Sayori, I am a bit iffy on the size, not because I don’t like it in design, but because lore-wise, she tends to not feed herself because of her depression. I think the original design could have reflected that better as well, honestly. The rest look pretty excellent actually.

i dont want this to seem like a hate comment but the entire point of their characters was to over-do the sterotypical anime tropes to the maximum and then layer in a huge dark secret to make it work. the "backbreaking" sayori sprite is intentional. the realistic aspect does not work and i guess i'm just not a fan of your artstyle, great work anyways though! no hate!
