@@billpowell120 Redman did write for Epmd he was on da Label he thank them for putting him on Google that. Redman used to trade weed for rhymes back in da day
We Gotta stop top 3 top 5 top 10in' our Goat acknowledgements (just learned how to spell that proper again haha) we gotta start acknowledging who is on the council and who is not. Bet the whole culture will focus knowledge on an unprecedented level.
I remember the MTV cribs Redman episode the most because I fucking died laughing breathing for air when he said to rub the two electric wires together to work the doorbell🤣🤣
One of the coolest dudes ever. My boy and I bumped into Redman when he was walking out the 5th ave gym in park slope Bk. He smoked with a blunt with us.😁 24 years ago
That's some good shyt, type of thing that tops anyone's guess who I met story. People always say if they got to meet one of their favorite entertainers what they wish they could have done with them kinda stories, then you had the blessing to meet Redman and the guy was such a real kinda guy that he didn't have one of those superstar egos that made him to big to even sign an autograph but to take some time to chill and actually smoke one with you makes that awesome. That's right up there with having a session with Chong and hitting a bong, I mean they are some of the legends of some. Any way cool story bro
"Red Herring I'm the realist best rapper coming up from ...." lol yeah its a real red herring right there. How dare you desecrate Redman's video with this shit
Redman is cut from that cloth where you had to bring your “A” game to the sound booth. Rappers back then had to make that pen bleed to hang with the others.
I saw redman jump off stage at la in some place called pico Rivera that shit was emty and stage dived to a group of literally 20 people and he still rocked that shit..he said he dont give a fuck if its 10 to thousands of people he still gives the same energy..redman is a true MC...#Facts.....rip phife
Met him at Best Buy a few years back. He was hella high and cool af. Nothing but respect. Just watched How High a few days ago. Laughed at that shit like it was brand new. #classic
THANK YOU REDMAN!...from the east all the way to the west.. you really made a huge impact to the city growing up in the 90s in Los Angeles !!...RESPECT!!!
I will NEVER forget RED and METH hanging of the balcony when they came to the Melkweg in Amsterdam.... Tearing up the stage 100% LEGIT ! NO-ONE WAS STANDING STILL THAT NIGHT, PLZ BELIEVE. Love. Thank you for giving me that memory. G.O.A.T.
Johnnie Morgan I'd recommend whut thee album first because it introduces you to Redman from his original style. My fav album from Redman is Dare Is A Darkside
Let me see, pink braids, a purse, high-heels, synthetic drugs and mumbling vs. Tims, army fatigues, gold fronts and literate emcees. Yeah, I don't think we even have to show up for that one.
born and raised in the west coast but biggie, redman and methodman made me respect and love the east coast. all three easily in my top 10 they had a huge impact on my life, thank you for the music
The way he describes jumping off stage and getting in the audience is the exact mentality of the heavy metal community which is exactly why we also hold on to rap so hard. That human emotion and movement
Depends on your definition of new rappers. Lil pump, uzi, youngboy, gunna, thugger, lil baby etc? Absolutely. But if you count Kendrick, j cole, juice wrld, Joyner lucas, hopsin, logic, polo G, big Sean, Montana of 300, Dave east, tee grizzly, etc? I don’t think so. All those guys can rap their asses off.
you didn't even provide a genre. top ten rap albums? or top ten albums ever? and you can't just base it off nostalgia, I used to love ludacris when I was 13, but I ain't gonna say chicken n beer is the best ever
I just watch this for the first time and I was thinking the same t hing, I was getting ready to type it and I saw your post and that's right homeboy just makes you smile...
Redman is definitely seems to be the most humble dude ever. He’s one of the few rappers I’d have a beer with. I really like his style. So freakin cool. Like they say his voice is so distinct. A true originator of rap and music. A true original. Red .. your a legend. !
I would actually say you could put Red & Meth number one for all your categories and even before you mention any other names, Busta Rhymes is still a throat cutter, also I want to give you someone not mentioned in any of the youtube vids but welll known by rappers in the industry. The name of the rapper is Del the Funky Homosapien, he's Ice Cubes Cousin and the album for introduction I want you to check out is Both sides of The Brain, tell me how you like it.
I remember when Red 1st came out, EVERYBODY was sprung. EVERYBODY use to say he was gonna be the greatest. He ran the East coast. I still feel the same way. Most underrated and underappreciated but never by me! Red is a genius and a legend!
I truly appreciate this interview. I had the opportunity to witness that energy from Redman at a Hit Squad concert in San Bernardino, California back in '93 at the Orange Show Pavillion. Off the chain. It was EPMD, DAS EFX, AND REDMAN. Classic hip hop!!! We needed to see K Solo, but he didn't show up. Still, it was fire
I've hung out with Remand and most of the WI on a number of occasions when Capadonna lived in my neighborhood and Red, Meth and Gza are some of the smartest and funniest dudes I've ever met in my life. Red actually knows me by name and when he's in town he occasionally hits me up and is so genuine and fun and a real dude
It's just facts tho...it's Redman...this dude is strait up one of the illest 2 ever do it...gotta be honest he's top 2 lyrically 🐐 in my eyes and one of my idol's for the longest time. I also rap and his influence in how I do it means everything 2 me... Just sayin 😆 none of y'all new cats have a chance if you ever face redman just run... LMFAO
So? You can't know what you don't know unless you get to know it, "giving props" is buying their music and going to their shows, and that Hip-Hop fans do, Eminem is a megastar, don't expect his "stans" to be versed in hip-hop history.
A video of The Funk Doctor -vs- ANY mumble "rapper" would be like one of those Animal Planet shows where the lion's got his whole head up in that gazelle's guts and then he pulls it out and stares at the camera all covered in blood! Redman slays the whole trap genre with tissue up BOTH nostrils.
I like how even with his money and influence he still feels comfortable in the hood. Two bedroom house, around his friends and family, just chilling. Such an influential guy and you could run into him just waking to like the corner store. For real though, he's always been one of the GOATS in hip hop.
Redman is definitely top 5,top 10 of all time, fuck money, fuck diamonds, fuck cars....it's about STRAIGHT BARS!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥...some of these new rappers need 2 take notes! FUNK DOC!!!
