Redneck Tech - Install 3 Channel Dashcam in an ID.4 

The wire goes behind the airbag. It took quadruple the effort to put it behind the airbag and it was a severe PITA. And yes, if it is in front of the airbag that is BAD. The way the site sits now is ok because the deployment of the airbag will press the wire into the pillar not into the cabin.

Sorry late response but most DashCam wholesalers should have the OBD unit. Personally I got mine from BlackBoxMyCar in Canada. I did this for my wife's Santa Fe. I have run the wires on my ID4 today but have not contacted to power yet. Probably do it the way you did. Did you have any issues with your fuse location choice?

@@petercorrin2414 nope ! I connected dash , Head Up display, phone wireless charging handle , additional usb and 12v sigarette charger to fuse box 📦 so far so good 8

@@silvergameofthrone Which slot or slot in the fuse box did you use? My dashcam is currently hooked up with a piggy back fuse unit, forget which slot though. LOL

Just that I ran it against solid objects all the way around the airbag. It went agains the metal the entire way. That way it was not in the path of the airbag deployment. It took a little extra cable to do so but there was plenty of slack to make sure it wouldn’t interfere.

OK, The constant power (red cable VCC) I put to the cellular fuse. I used the mini fuse tap. For the accessory (yellow acc), I used the 12V power point slot with a regular size fuse tap. With the power point fuse there are two positions it can be in the reside in the same little fuse indentation. With the ID.4, movement of the fuse allows for the 12V powerpoint in the back to be either on with key or constant on. I changed the position of the fuse to be in keyed only position with the tap installed. This gives the camera the notice to switch between the modes. Unfortunately this does also mean that the key has to be on to use the powerpoint in the back of the ID.4. I really wish I could attach a photo of my setup here.

@@kiltedtexan thanks a lot, but do you remember the number of fuse you used? VCC+ red fuse Number? ACC yellow fuse number?

By the picture I have it looks like I used F20 for the red and F52 for the Yellow.

Sorry about the confusion on that one. After looking myself I can totally see why you would get that impression.
