I miss this song. I was about 9 when it first came out. We did it every year at my summer camp. Always a huge hit. About 4 years ago when my scout troop was hosting the winter dance for younger Girl Scouts I got on the dance floor and started teaching the younger girls (about 7-8 years old) how to do the dance. It was so much fun.

More like 200 years later. This song was originally sung on southern plantations in the early 1800’s. Nobody knows who originally wrote it.
