Redstart in the New Forest, Hampshire 

With spring beginning, so the first of the migrant birds are arriving in the UK.
It's always a great time to go in search of them and one in particular is a specialist of the New Forest near us. The Common Redstart.
One of the most striking of our summer visitors, the male has a beautiful silver grey cap contrasting strikingly with it's black face and russet orange breast and tail.
As you will see in my film, it regularly flicks it's tail like a ruler on the edge of a desk. They prefer mature oak woodland to breed and the New Forest provides the perfect habitat for them. Great to see them back again.
