Hi Finn, I haven’t had top surgery, but have had a horrible large cyst removed from my sternum and was searching for help on how to prevent keyloid scarring. I was just thinking of you the other day and wondering where you were at with things, thats fantastic news my friend! Massage has been shown to have the biggest effect on scar outcome compared to any of the lotions and potions so just be vigilant and stick to the routine, take good care of yourself and balance things, and Im sure you will heal very well. rest up and congrats!

this is great info! I'd heard other transguys suggest massaging the scars but I lost track of the videos of where they had said when they started and how long, ect. It's been two weeks as of today since I had surgery, so I wanted to locate that sort of info so I can start massaging when it comes time. You answered all my questions in this video so perfectly, I'm so glad I came across it. :)

Thanks for sharing your massage routine and wow your scars look so good! I’m 5 weeks post op! I was wondering if you used silicone scar tape or mepilex foam dressings at all?

Hi my friend, thanks for watching , I havent used the silicone tape but I did use the silicone scar gel. Ive used a number of products over the years for both top surgery and lower surgery scars, ive listed them all in this blog : finlaygames.com/best-scar-care-products-for-surgery-recovery/

Great blog, Finn. Very informative and lots of info there and advise. All good to know. Wondering whether you would use your oils on your scars on your arms etc as I have scars on my arms and am getting lost in all the possible choices in which products to use. Hey mate. Massage is great for any scar, even old ones. Ive always massaged my self harm scars. I used to use bio-oil but then I read about vitamin E maybe not being good for us trans guys so I now use the tamanu/rosehip oil on my scars too. In fact, when I have a bath i just apply it everywhere....my skin is great...so it must work. Give it a go my friend :)

Yes. In february and in august my revision. I had dog ears and they still haven't totally dissapeared unfortunately.

Hey thanks for this video I'm one month post op and I've been using vitamin E oil .But some one said Emu oil works better for the incision. Right now I'm just lightly massaging them and putting oil on my nipple as well .When do you suggest I massage harder

v bee hi my friend. Ive not heard of emu oil. Just listen to your body, and go harder as it allows but in general I would say for the first 6 to 8 weeks go gently and then gradually build up the pressure. Hope that helps and happy healing!!

Hey Finn, I am 2 months and 2 weeks post op with Mr Yelland. I have started to massage my scars using your advice but I think my scars are still sensitive and sting when I lie on my side in bed for too long. Should I wait a bit longer before massaging them?

+Soph I congrats on yr new pecs! Always listen to your body. Maybe just gently running yr finger along the incision line with the oil of yr choosing would be better for now then once you've healed further you can apply more pressure and motion

I'd really like some advice! I'm almost 6 weeks post op now and my incisions are looking fine (still red and raised though, but scab free). I use rosehip oil to massage twice a day. I'm going to start using kelo-cote now, but i'm not too sure how i should fit that in to my routine since the kelo-cote is to be applied twice a day too and on dry skin. Should i first massage it with rosehip oil and then apply kelo-cote after it completely dries? (the drying of the rosehip oil takes a long time for me) I also bought scar away and mepitac silicone tape to try. The mepitac stays on for a few days and in the shower, so can i just take it off, do the massage, and then put it back on again?

+ゼロ congrats on your surgery my friend. The rosehip oil is mostly a lubricant for massage so use enough to help your hands move over the skin and massage until it's all worked in. Once it's dry then you apply a really thin layer of kelo-cote . Both the tape and the kelo-cote do the same thing, keep the scar moist and pliant. So yes just as you say you can take it off, do the massage and put it back on

i am 2 weeks post op! can i ask, during the first few weeks before you're scab free and before you can massage, what did you do? i'm not sure whether i should be greasing it now so i'm just applying a transparent film on until there's no more scabs?

+ゼロ don't apply anything yet. Wait until incision line is fully healed and you are scab free. About 6 weeks post op is when most people start
