It's definitely good to see that Reebok has brought back the BB4600 but the current reissued model just can't compare to the originals from the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Thanks for another great review of my favorite shoes. I just found about about this 2019 retro and was super keen to get some... but after watching this I think the mid top is a deal breaker for me :(
Thx for a great vid! Awesome detail. Love the commercial at end. Nice find! It almost seems like Reebok didn’t intend on the 2019’s to be a true retro but more like a modernized version...these were my first real sneakers back in grade 6. Lol. Tempted to cop a pair of the 2019’s for nostalgia; they’re on the Reebok site for 50% off right now.
Yeah they're going for a nice discount. The the red ones a few months ago. You can still find vintage ones on eBay now and then. Sometimes I sell some on Instagram (kevin15776). Just sold a size 10.5 about 10 days ago.
I really wish they would do a PROPER re-release of the originals. I have an old pair from around 2005 and even those are better than these 2019 ones. I still bought 3 pair (2 of which are unopened and never worn). If they released the exact replica of the originals, I would buy multiple pairs no matter the cost. I remember when I bought my first pair in 1986.
Great detailed comparison. Don't understand why companies always make the toebox bulkier, and often curled upward, when re-issuing pairs... takes away from the aerodynamic shape that really makes the shoe pop
@@claudiocruzat7667 it looks more professionally designed. The BB4600 was never meant to be anything else besides i high top. The BB4000 was the low top variant.
Hey great video!! I really enjoyed all the information I always appreciate such details on a video where is not a nike or adidas shoe 🔥 How do they fit btw? I have a kind of a wide feet so I'm unsure if going with my TTS or .5 up, thanks!!
Thanks. I find some 80s basketball models are thin on cushioning so going TTS fits me. However, I've also gone up half a size and not been disappointed either. You might want to go up half a size to be safe.
Dude totally luvin how you loose laced these bad boys really love ❤ the way you make the tounges stand up and how you make the laces hang down the side of the sneakers really really luv this style totally bad ass 😍 🥰❤😋I wear all my sneakers loose laced to do you let your sneakers slop up and down when you walk and make that sweet scuffin sound as you drag your heels along the floor ❤ 😎
All 4600 midsoles are made of rubber so there shouldn't be any crumbling. Sneakers that use polyurethane midsoles will experience crumbling. The biggest issue I've come across with rubber is hardening. If they're stored improperly the rubber can become stiff and they slide across any hard floor and sound like wooden shoes when you walk.
After watching this video as well as stranger things, I fell in love with this shoes and was able to find an original pair from 86, I hope when they come in that they are as good you say they are, great video, very informational :)
I found some on eBay, and they might have been on stranger things, a lot of the main characters had a pair, pretty sure Jason wore a pair for the fourth season, which was set in 86, but it’s hard to tell because he’s pants cuffed over it but it’s likely as he was a basketball player for that show
LOL, you are using hair 40 volume developer on shoes, you may as well add the lightener to it. Wella Blondnor or Joico Creme Lightener is great, it's a blue lightener so it should help get out the yellowish tones.
eBay is your best bet. I'll be on the lookout but it's a popular size. Just sold a pair on IG (kevin15776) in that size a week ago. I sell them every now and then.
@@3live-stream I'll be selling a 2002 pair of black and whites ones soon but in size 12. Will hopefully be putting a video up soon. Also have a blue and red suede pair.
kevin15776 Ima size 11. I’m really hoping the leather is good on these BB 2019. I love the wrinkles on my pair as a kid. I’m getting irritated with Nike cause the materials they used on my Barkley’s and air flight 89 are trash. Straight trash. Hard bending instead of wrinkling. Wtf Nike. Those shoes are from this year and two years ago.
@@kevin15776 you made a video years ago on the pump shaqnosis in that video you also had the regular shaqnosis was that pair an og pair because it looked too close to the og to be a retro
@@kevin15776 yeah, i use to catch my son looking at them saying that he couldn't wait for his got to get big enough to wear. His for stopped at 10 and the top ten are 11
Very disappointed, I was about to buy these but the main draw for me was how high the og pair was and seeing how the retro is basically a mid top is a big turnoff
kevin15776 It’s kinda a shame, I might pick them up sometime down the line. I’ve really been lookin for those retro high tops that are actually high tops. Unfortunately that’s pretty hard to find these days it seems. Many modern sneakers that are advertised as high tops aren’t actually high tops! Guess my search continues!
Hi kevin15776. I'm about to auction a pair of original 1986 Reebok bb4600's on eBay. I want to ask if it's ok if I use a link in my description to your video so that people can see the difference between the real OGs & the replicas. That way they know they're the real deal. The padded upper should give it away but, some might not notice.
@@CamoBigfoot Are they the black and red pair? I believe those are from 2002 or 2007. They have a newer size tag with the barcode. An 80s pair would just have a small yellowish size tag with no barcode.
Reebok needs to do a better job on their retros and use high quality leather instead of short grain leather their "high tops " are midtops they need to do better seriously if this is based on a popular late 80s sneaker
