Reed Sheppard Is Better Than We Thought... 

Didn't expect his creativity to be this advanced, just yet.

Been saying he’s a smaller Devin booker and little better from a play making standpoint well he’s 6”2 so he needs to be able to play make and run the offense as he did in Kentucky. Very similar story to Devin booker both came out of Kentucky no one really had any idea what their game was gonna be in the NBA and once they got there they showed OUT. This dudes has ALL the tools for his size, his footwork is smooth and his jumper is smooth he can read the defense he can drive and take contact not as athletic but enough to create space and get his shots off

I love watching him play, his mind and quick hands are his best defensive weapons, along with his 42" vertical. I don't care who agrees or not, but he makes me think of Larry Bird. He is not there yet but maybe getting closer as he works to improve.

To be fair these aren't NBA level defenders so Reed's ability to create separation in isolation is still in question. As with any small guard, it will be more difficult for him to create passing angles and shots against bigger better athletes. That said, I'm not sure it's all that surprising if you watched a lot of his tape. The combination of shooting + feel is a damn good one as we've seen with Curry, Trae and Haliburton. There is a reason he was getting lots of Mark Price comps before the draft. His ceiling is pretty high. I also fully expect him to add a full compliment of the absurd touch and wrong foot finishes we saw from Nash and Curry as he gets older.
