Can you please do a video of the sand removal and adding of the new sand? Also when removing sand does that add alot of the hidden nitritous into the water? Do you do a water change after?

When treatment is done run skimmer as normal run tube to bucket and keep emptying it and adding saltwater to tank as needed might take couple 5 gallon buckets but once skimmer calms down it’s all out

My nitrates and phosphates bottomed out and same thing happened to me. I use water changes, pulling some chaeto out of my fuge and adding NeoNitro and NeoPhos to elevate levels. I use Tropic Marin Pro Reef. Love the salt.

Hey there, are your Nero 5 magnets just on the back glass or do you have an over flow chamber back there with water in the back of your tank? I would like to put my Nero 5s on the back of my tank as well like you have them but I have the Cade reef 1200 aquarium and the back chamber fills up with fresh water for the top off, and I’m concerned if I put the magnetically back there they may rust? Have you heard of any risks like that with the Nero 5 magnets?

Chemi-clean is just a band aid to your Cyanobacteria problem. It will come back. Increase your bacteria diversity by dosing bacteria (MicroBacter 7 or Dr. Tim's for example) instead.

Instead of increasing water flow, did you look at maybe redirecting the flow? I had what I believed was Cyano forming and redirecting some flow cleared it up in a couple days.
@PazLeBon
@PazLeBon 2 года назад
pretty much stagnation. Flow can certainly create dead spots, even in direct line of flow and of course behind/underneath the powerhead so just changing that flow is always worth trying

The way I like to remove the Chemiclean is, I put my auto top-off pump in a bucket of new saltwater, and turn my protein skimmer up so it is skimming. It will skim out a lot of water then slow down, when it does you turn up the skimmer again. I do this for the 20% water change the directions recommend. Essentially you’re doing an auto water change using your protein skimmer. This only works well if your skimmer cup has a hose for draining. Because you’ll put the discharge hose in a empty bucket to allow the skimmer to continuously skim. Then run carbon.
@goshzilla.1057
@goshzilla.1057 2 года назад
The skimmer overflows cuz all the proteins. So if u run ur skimmer and let it overskim into a bucket or something, then eventually it will go back to normal and j can use less carbon and won’t have to worry abt bottoming out ur nitrates.

7:48 - for anyone who will be using dino x. I ve used it, IT DOES WORK! But it is definitely not reef or invert safe. After a week of using it, my urchin lost its spines and unfortunately it did not make it :( . My nem went crazy, it changed its spot twice, most probably since it got irritated. ALL of my pods died resulting in higher nitrates. At night my candy canes which usually displayed their feeder tentacles ,stopped doing so. All of my starfish including - brittle starfish and asteria went absolutely crazy most probably wanting to find a different spot in the reef but since it’ s an aquarium they obviously couldn’t! Im not here to criticize I’m just telling you what you’ll be expecting, but not every aquarium works the same way so one may have a different and pleasant experience with it! Have a good day Will i ever use dino x again? NO! Find the root of the problem and fix that. One alternative for dino or cyano is coroline algae. Dinos and cyano battle for space, if coroline algea or normal algae already occupy a decent amount of space on the rock, it will surely not take over (cyano and dinos) . In the case of sand, all you need to do is what Marc did in the vid. (I may spelled his name wrong)

Manual removal as much as you can and bump your nitrates up and phosphates. I'm assuming you're at 0 for both since you have a dino problem. I've heard even dosing silicates to get diatom back to out compete them.

@@coolbeans8424 the Vibrant has also killed off a bunch of my coraline as well (I recently saw a video where they claim Vibrant is not bacteria but is actually an algaecide!!) I did check water parameters and everything was good (as far as I know). I have done water changes and also have carbon going. No idea if hammers come back once they look like limp overcooked pasta, or if frogspawn comes back once it's retracted over itself

@@artistic_spaz3724 I’ve never had any experience with vibrant since in my country its not legal to ship!Recently my lfs which thought me thousands of lessons, gave me some live coralline algae, he had a tube( those which give shelter to fish) filled with coralline algae and scraped it off in a bag filled with water, i threw the coralline in my display tank, turned off the return pump and let it mix for half an hour. After just 2 weeks most of my rock is filled with it, so try to do that with the coralline. In the case with the Euphyllia corals, i ve been in this hobby for over 4 years now, killed countless of corals (including euphyllias) if their skeleton is showing, most of the time( not always ) they are toast :(

Definitely cyano bacteria. What's your reline ratio in the tank? Were you aware that chemiclean is just a strong antibiotic called erythromycin? This antibiotic is something that should not be going down any drains...... It is not recommended to feed why treating due to the product killing all the beneficial bacteria just as fast as the cyano. Also carbon does not and won't absorbed it.
@PazLeBon

@fragboxcorals

@quadlawnmowerman 2 года назад
@Fragbox Corals nahh it doesn't, EM doesn't bond to carbon, it breaks down itself over about 7 days though and uv will also break it down quicker, skimmer will get a bit but the only thing the carbon gets is the chemical used to make it easily disolve in water..
