Listen as our Founder and Chief Executive Patsy Bass describes her vision for the new distillery currently being set up on a 1 hectare site on the edge of Reefton, a historic gold-mining town, population 927, with movie set good looks, located in the heart of New Zealand’s untamed West Coast.
Patsy was born in Reefton, and remembers the simplicity of life on the Coast, riding horses, swimming in the river, and sipping on milkshakes at the local milk bar. Returning with her husband a few years ago, they began to look at ideas to help contribute to the revitalisation of the town and the distillery was the one that they kept coming back to.
Since opening our doors in 2018, two years on we have achieved global awards for our products, created jobs and a tourist attraction, with flow on effects for the wider community.
With its plentiful supplies of rainfall, spring water from pristine sources and lush green rainforests full of the key botanical ingredients, Reefton has everything we need to create world class spirits.

On the West Coast, housing prices are among some of the lowest in the country, in Reefton there are walking and cycling tracks on our doorstep. Where else in the world can you leave work at 5.30pm and by 5.35pm be out hiking in the hills, swimming, or fishing in a river, or playing golf on a beautiful golf course?
