In the final 5 minutes of the Tea Tree Gully vs Adelaide Croatia Vukovi SAASL League Cup Quarter Final game, an over zealous referee sends off 7 players.
Respect goes two ways. He was such a bolshy cunt he has earned zero respect in that. Just wanted to be the man of the match himself. Then to show a red card to a coach who wanted to stand in his technical area rather sit down and then send off a goalkeeper for trying to calm everyone down. This is the sort of ref that deserves a good kicking so that he never tries to come back. He is bad for the game. Could've been sorted so calmly without him
@pcarts232 what are you on about? When you play football you do so knowing that someone has to ref the game, if they shut the fuck up like rugby do and just do what the ref says then the game carries on but all footballers do is bitch and moan to the ref, then run up on him 8 man strong when a decision goes against them
Don't know about Australia's fans and team staff, but in England such swearing is like having a breakfast tea with grandma. Probably, in England this ref should run for his life at the end after fans breaking onto the pitch. But still, such behaviour was sick.
He was right aside from the “stay inside of the box” stuff, he seemed be way to looking into. Also nothing entitled him to force someone to sit on the bench as long as they are in the zone.
@@martindg93 technical area is defined as a "designated sitting area for team officials, substitutes and substituted players", ie. They must be sitting, except for one coach who may stand to convey tactical instructions.
@@brandonl4914technically 2 coaches can stand up and players are permitted to stand up IF they are warming up. But if there is 3 standing up in such lower divisions there is no reason for all the red cards. (Coming from both a player and a ref)
@@wesleystafford8521 You always see referees getting yelled at and abused. But they keep calm and stay respectful. They deserve the same back. There would be no game without the referees
As a soccer ref myself, this ref isnt "MAD" at all. He is doing exactly what needs to be done. The more referees actually enforce the laws of the game, the sooner we will stop having so much dissent from parents, coaches and players. Great job, ref! Great job!
@@TobiasBaker-c5b And this is why we have such a MAJOR issue with parents and fans believing that they can act the way they wanna act. Most refs are now afraid to actually enforce the game because they are accused of being a narcissist and making the game about them. However, the parents and fans, and in this case the players and coaches, are literally inserting themselves into the game where they shouldn't even be a variable in the equation. But sure, what you said. Psh.
@@tripanzo And how would you know what he said? Surely the camera hasn't picked up everything. I'd bet, with how the rest of that team and staff acts, that he was a bellend as well. Pathetic behavior from the so called "adults".
@@elfmatw He called the teamates behaviour for embarssing and that they should stop arguing with the ref and then the ref blows and think the goalkeeper was talking to the ref. Not only that, but I also think that most of the warnings should have been yellow and not red. Obviously not good refreeing that let his emotions get the better of him.
I told my players if they got a yellow card for dissent they were done for the day. All you have to do is keep your mouth shut. You have complete control over that outcome.
The red for the keeper is an unfortunate misunderstanding. He was telling his own players they were embarrasing, not the ref. But other than that, I don't see an overzealous ref. I see a football club behaving like petulant children, and a ref enforcing the laws of the game re dissent. Game needs more of this! Guarantee the team in red carry on like that every week and have walked over less confident refs.
And it’s not just how the red players were acting, but also their coaches who made no attempt to control them. This deserved to be a 1-0 forfeit for the yellow team over the red team. In 20 years (~3k matches) as a youth referee I never had to forfeit a match, as I was able to control the players & coaches enough to avoid such a situation.
@@thumper300zx I am still on his side, I was a ref too and i was in the situation of the keeper to. I said nothing to him and only tried to silence a teammate, but from his perspective in a heating situation, such mistakes can happen. Missed two games. But asking yself, i may have done the same mistake. Its the fault of the others in Team red, not hte refs. Ceep calm and stay on the field.
@@thumper300zx Thats true, but you have to remind the psychology. In my opinion its not his fault. The situation was stressful. The Keeper is the innocent victim of his teammates behavior.
Respect to this ref. Description says final 5 minutes, and if they are reacting like that to an obvious foul you know the ref was getting abused the entire game. He looked so sick of it
As a former referee, I will say that, if every referee did that, at every level, we’d have a better game. And if you want an example, take a look at rugby.
As a former referee, it's tough for me to 100% agree with you. Honestly, it looks like he went too far just based on what we are able to hear and see. (Don't know what led up to all this.) The one I most question is when he brings a coach to the touchline and that coach is calmly talking to him. I find it difficult to believe there was something red card worthy there. It would have had to have been the calmest racist remark ever on a pitch. The 2nd coach ejected it appears was ordered by the referee to sit down even though the he was just was standing next to the bench. He appears to be ejected for refusing to sit. He should have, after the 2nd card, pulled the captains together and spoken to them. Explain that there will be no more. Instead he chased upset players instead which just made it worse.
We don’t get to see any of the game leading up to this. I’m sure that first red card did not come out of nowhere. Nor did the second or the third. I stand by my statement - if all referees did not allow disrespect from players and coaches, it would be a different game. And again, just watch a rugby match - any rugby match- and note the respect given to the referees.
@@SteveDisenhof I agree we didn't see the lead up which would be very telling. How the referee handled both coaches seemed odd at best and I think is telling to his attitude in general. Again, we can't hear the audio, but that first one there was zero body language to indicate anything ejection worthy existed. And, yes, rugby has control of the players. That's a general consensus in the sporting world.
Rugby has better rules though that's why no dissent. In football 5 people can see the same incident and draw different conclusions based on sloppy rules. In football the head of the referees association has apologised for important refereeing mistakes made after the game. I say long live dissent in football until they finally decide what a foul/handball is. 😊
So, uh, that excuses the abuse football referees receive at all levels? We can't keep young referees (or older ones) who simply decide the money isn't worth the grief. @@onlyapawn4371
@@mattrb8101just because you touch the ball doesn’t mean you get to bulldoze him to the ground. He clearly extends his left arm and shoves him in the back.
Yes, it's an interesting point because at that moment the referee thought the keeper was talking to him because of all the bs he was already getting. This was the only call he really got wrong, other than maybe throwing a yellow or two to some players for dissent rather than a straight red. In hindsight, i'm sure the ref would agree the red on the GK was wrong and was just a misunderstanding, but in the heat of the moment it's very hard to tell. Either way the game probably could've/should've been terminated before it got to that point.
@@SpeedyStone97 To be honest, ref's decisions are questionable. As you said he could have used only yellow cards considering that the red team was not that disrespectful to him. They were waiting to go back to the game. Maybe some of them deserved yellow or even red cards, but not all of those sent off the pitch. Therefore the ref single-handedly destroyed the game with no real justification.

Yeah, cos after driving 700 miles from Newcastle to Brighton, paying £50x5 for tickets, £200 for the hotel, what we want to see is the ref end the game with red cards 10 minutes in, ya know... so we can get back on the road sooner.
He kept his composure and dignity. He enforced the laws of the game to a T. Bravo ref. I found myself in a spot like this in a u15 select match. 4 red cards within a minute. The team was ridiculously disrespectful, violent, and throwing out racist language. Ended up getting death threats from family--called the game 5 minutes early.
It's insane the personalities that come out on a soccer game. Not even championship games. People treat refs like they are apart from them or something.
Referee has not gone mad. The players are being smart and they're commenting with disrespect and insulting the referee. He did exactly what he needed to do stay come and discipline those knucklehead players. He did a great job 100%👍👏
I feel for referees at this level, they get paid very little to turn up at these places with no protection if it kicks off. These guys kept swearing at him and committing other misdemeanours- he can’t just ignore it. He did a great job of not standing for it.
I love this. The more I watch it the more I love it. I wish we had more refs like this. Maybe then these players and coaches would realize that there are actually consequences when breaking the rules. Over zealous? Psh! This was a master class on how to deal with dissent. And he did it with such calm demeanor. So good.
@@pak3ton its not about sitting down, its a bout shutting their big ignorant mouths and not slabbering at the man in charge of the game! The ref was well within his rights!
Beautiful, that's how dissent should be treated in football. Let's be honest, footballers are disgusting, they swear, threaten, and abuse each other and the ref. They will cheat left right and centre where they can too. They rarely show any respect. Every match should be zero tolerance for dissent.
Overzealous referee? More like a bunch of 9 year-olds that haven't been told "no" enough in their life. If you want to act like children, you get treated like children. Enjoy your "timeouts".
This video is absolutely hilarious and it's gonna get viral. IMO, any sort of verbal abuse towards a ref is a red card offense, but the goalkeeper with the green shirt spoke towards the dugout while the ref was communicating with #9 and didn't look at the keeper. Therefore, when the keeper went closer to the ref, there was a clear misunderstanding because the ref fought the comments were directed towards him. For the sub keeper, I think the ref had enough from the rude comments from the dugout and took no excuses after telling the keeper to sit down. Overall, I think the ref was partly at fault, because he was too strict towards the dugout and didn't explain about the first two cards. The red team's behaviour was truly shocking as multiple players and staff were swearing at the ref for giving a freekick (it was a clear push on the back). If they had respected the ref and didn't verbally abuse him, this mess wouldn't have happened in the first place.
Its AMATEUR!!!!!! SOCCER THE LEAGUES SHOULD FOLLOW THE FIFA RULES BUT THEY NEED TO BE FLEXIBLE TO AVOID THIS SITUATIONS. THE REF WAS A TOTAL IDIOT. PROBABLY WAS BULLIED AS A KID AND NEEDED TO HAVE SOME AUTHORITY

Sin bins for dissent at grass roots have really helped. That is what refs wanted sorted as that's when a match gets out of control. The teams very quickly work out a refs 'tolerance level' and I've never had to bin more than one player in a match. The dissenters team mates give their own summary justice as they are down to 10 players for 10 minutes.
We don’t have that here in Ireland but it would really help in my opinion. Look at how well the referees and opponents are respected in rugby. Soccer should aspire to be more like rugby I think.
You dont get to argue. With the new rules, we are cracking down on this type of behavior. My state has lost over 2,000 refs in the last year. Most games are cancled due to no refs. Because these kind of coaches acting like jack asses are making refs quit. Most refs are teenagers. All refs need to adopt the zero tollerance polocy for this. Straight red for any disrespect towards an official.

@@davidhanson1849that coach had already called the ref a pussy. That's a red card offence on its own. Referee : Hey mate what is a world record for red cards in one game? Mate: I think it's six. I think it's impossible to get seven. Referee : Hold my cup for a minute...
There must be a minimum of 7 players on the field for a team to be able to constitute a game so I would say that 4 players can be sent off and, as they cannot be replaced, if a fifth player on the field is sent off, the game must stop. However that is just the players on the field. If the abuse continues from players still on the field or is also coming from the officials and the players on the bench it would be possible to give out seven or more red cards.
@@frednerk3477 You are correct that if 5 players on the field from one team are shown a red card, then the team must forfeit the match 1-0. But theoretically, the ref could give red cards to all 18 players as well as coaches before leaving the field. Then the league could reprimand all of them for the remainder of the season. Coaches lose their jobs for such fiascos, and they could lose their coaching license as well. Note that the coaches did little to nothing to control the red team players.
I was a softball, basketball & soccer (very low level) ref for many years. I had some games like this. I certainly don't have expert knowledge of soccer (I'm American) but that had to be a foul. He pushed him from behind. This simple call mushroomed into a temper tantrum by one team.
