Refilling The Water System After Winter Drain Down Elddis & Compass CV20 CV40 CV60 CV80 Campervan

**EDIT** Over the last day it’s frozen here so I drained down again, upon refilling I tried filling the boiler with the hot tap open, this was a lot better, no massive airlock, it does take a fair while to prime from empty though so stick with one tap at a time.
In preparation for using the van this year I show you how I refill the van with water and purge the system of air.

Hello. I’ve subscribed and enjoying the videos. Very informative. I just picked up my cv 40 and I’m busy doing little mods. I have insulated the rear doors after watching your video and just wanted you to know that your videos are appreciated. I have also just put curtains up across the back doors. Stops any draft and makes it feel more homely. I will be changing the solar controller too when the new one arrives tomorrow. Keep the videos coming. Very helpful. Thank you. 👍🏼

Me and Sally have been caravanning for 20+ years... and opening the hot tap still makes Sally jump during the 1st fill up.... lol.

So which is best to do Caravans or Campervans or Motor homes, as I have friends who seem to just swap from one to another which is expensive, In fact one tows a small C1 on the back of the motor home 🤔

Carl I’ve done both, caravan better if you want to explore the area Campervan better if you want to move base more often

Either/ Or..... I think it depends on how one like to spend their holidays. I was introduced to caravanning at an early age by Mom and Dad. Camping initially, then they "upgraded" to a touring caravan. From my perspective there are downsides and upsides to both.

When I started it was cold water only and a floor foot operated foot pump for water 😂 but yep, trying to get a little library of how to stuff on the channel to help newbies out is my aim, cheers both.

We filmed our recommissioning video a few days ago for this Friday. We didn’t do the piece about the water pressure when you first put the tap on. That was amazing the amount of air pressure when you initially put on the tap. We don’t drink from the freshwater either.

Yep I should have had the hot open (or done it slower really) all vans behave differently....

To be fair Rick, Heather I don't know anything about them so it's all interesting to see just what's involved, I couldn't afford anything like that , but have looked at Bongo,s in the past just to take when doing a bit of wild camping as a base ,never really done campsites either so that will also be interesting to see just what goes on , take care enjoy ya day you two 🙂👍

i was told to have a hot tap open as the boiler fills. you know it's full when the tap runs smooth. only tiny spurts of water are wasted and you don't get a big moment when you opened the hot tap there. edit: sorry, jumped the gun there. you said you'll try that at the end.
@RickandHeather
@RickandHeather 3 года назад
Yes Lee, I did say on the video I might do that next time.... our last van did bleed easier than this, that said it made for entertainment when Heather jumped 😂 cheers for watching and commenting Rick.

Good stuff. Wondered what you guys do to cleanse the system after winter ? Do you use the Milton type stuff and run that through ?
@RickandHeather
@RickandHeather 3 года назад
You can buy proper Motorhome water system cleaner, don’t use Milton there’s an ingredient in it that plays havoc with the boiler internals

Please could you tell me how you have fastened your awning handle up inside. I would like to do the same as it just gets in the way. Very useful information,Thank you
@RickandHeather
@RickandHeather 3 года назад
Hi. In the bag supplied with the van with all the books etc there were some clips (some for the awning feet some for the handle) they just screw on the wood. (I’m sure it’s in one of the very early videos) 👍

How much litters can you fill on the elddis? Is it enough for a few showers?
@RickandHeather
@RickandHeather 3 года назад
It holds 90 litres of water, your issue is the boiler holds 10 so you’re limited by waiting for water to heat, it’s a balance between getting the desired temperature and wash/lather/rinse rather than keeping the water running like you would at home.
