Sometimes it takes one of my subscribers to point me in the direction for my next drum cover. I heard this song as a kid on AM radio, but I lost touch with it until I was asked to cover it yesterday. This song was a request from Kari Churchhill Laidman - she was trying to figure out how to play this one and me to show her how. When I do drum covers I don’t think about how many drummers learn from my interpretation of how to approach the song. Now this one is not exact, but it's very close to the vibe of the original. I did leave all the tacets and rests in place and used appropriate drum fills to start and stop sections. I just played it like I heard it … which is from years of drumming and listening to music.
