Technically the Corinthian believers were remembering Christ's death at the communion table. But in reality, they weren't - what they were doing was a farce, far removed from the reality. But in the middle of Paul's rebuke of these believers, "like a diamond dropped in a muddy road”, Paul goes back to the source and speaks of the true and sacred tradition of the Lord's Table.
