Thank you for sharing Robert and Jaime's film about Bucky. It was great to see Bucky and Anne at home; Bucky in his bathrobe at 15:00. Even great minds are very human.
Wow! This is the first evidence I have seen of Bucky, himself, asserting a possible connection to being an American Transcendentalist. Wow! Not even the Fuller Dome for Spirituality and Sustainability at SIUE has made this connection.
The geodesic dome pictured in this film were not designed by Bucky. The Union Tank Car dome, the ASM Dome, The Climatron, And the USIA tented domes were all designed by TC Howard of Synergetics, Inc. The Kaiser domes were designed by Don Richter. Bucky patented the geometry for geodesic domes: he did not design actual dome buildings.
Bucky was a lecturer, not a designer. He energized students and his audience with ideas. The true designers should be given their due credit. Shoji Sadao, TC Howard (my father and owner, architect, and engineer of Synergetics, Inc in Raleigh, NC). Bucky had very little to do with the designs of the domes mentioned. Shoji Sadao designed the Spiritual Center and the Montreal Expo Bubble. TC Howard's domes are trusses that happen to be geodesic.
@@katrinafairley4211 so, you didn't watch the video. maybe it would explain why Bucky is the one who got his face on a U.S. Postage stamp. also some of this non designers designs are on display in the Smithsonian. maybe he deserves more credit than you give him.
This is unreal. This is a treasure! Was it called "Bear Island" in Maine? That sounds like Bucky had a Eco Base Camp to experiment with? I wonder what it is like now?
