The continental Reformed and the British/Scottish/American Presbyterian church traditions complement one another well. These two streams converge to provide a richness to each confessional tradition.

This is what I admire about the Reformed movement from both the Dutch Reformed and Presbyterian churches. The cordial and charitable interactions between the two even with their slight disagreements on second and even third degree theological formulations are an example for denominations that are way too 'fundamentalist' in their theology. I am broadly evangelical with regards to my church membership since my church is a non-denominational evangelical one, but my theological beliefs are much more affiliated with the Reformed tradition. What matters most for me is that my faith is biblical, Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered, and God-glorifying. As always, great content from the Reformed Forum. Great job; keep it up! Soli Deo gloria!

That last statement is truth. I (1689 guy) have more in common with PCA and OPC than I have with arminian southern Baptists.

WAY MORE in common. I am in the same boat as you. About to go to an OPC or PCA church since there are no reformed Baptist churches around me.

💯. If folks ask my denomination I’m quicker to say “Reformed” than I am “Baptist.”

I have just recently discovered reformed theology. I grew in the Roman catholic church and changed to a charismatic movement church. I've just recently been exposed to reformed theology through listening to pastors like John MacArthur, Steve Lawson etc. I have a lot of questions about reformed churches. I need helpm

Theologically I'm Baptist. I'm not Calvinist. The Baptist churches in my area are getting liberal. I've been to the Presbyterian church and have enjoyed the reverence of the church service. I was wondering if I could join a PCA church not being a Calvinist?

Yes you can . I'm a member of my local OPC and they only require one affirms the essentials of the faith for membership . One only needs to affirm the WCF if they are to be an officer in the church Membership vows (1) Do you believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, to be the Word of God, and its doctrine of salvation to be the perfect and only true doctrine of salvation? (2) Do you believe in one living and true God, in whom eternally there are three distinct persons-God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit-who are the same in being and equal in power and glory, and that Jesus Christ is God the Son, come in the flesh? (3) Do you confess that because of your sinfulness you abhor and humble yourself before God, that you repent of your sin, and that you trust for salvation not in yourself but in Jesus Christ alone? (4) Do you acknowledge Jesus Christ as your sovereign Lord, and do you promise that, in reliance on the grace of God, you will serve him with all that is in you, forsake the world, resist the devil, put to death your sinful deeds and desires, and lead a godly life? (5) Do you promise to participate faithfully in this church's worship and service, to submit in the Lord to its government, and to heed its discipline, even in case you should be found delinquent in doctrine or life?

My findings are that more people are 5 point Calvinist and do not “ really “ know it. If you start asking theological questions unemotionally one will see they agree with us over 99% of the time and sadly do not even know it. Really think about it. John 6:44 not by the will of the Flesh or the will of Man, but of God. John 1:13 that one must be drawn to him ( not a pick & choose when YOU decide ). And a slew of other examples. You are probably more Calvinistic that you realize. Most are.

@Super Genius That is new to me. I think you have got it backwards as USA is liberal & PCA is the conservative group. I could be wrong but this comment is a first. Where’s did you get this information 🤔✝️🇺🇸

As the culture darkens, so does the church. Most probably, the church led the way into darkness. You three avoid this like the plague.

@Super Genius I lean toward the Church led the way into darkness. When looking at the teachings of the Reformers, (Luther-Calvin), there is not one church that I see which holds to their teachings. Some do outwardly, but in reality, they are far from them. Churches in the last few decades especially, have refused to Defend the Faith. They are more about "doctrine divides, and love unites". Teaching this dichotomy between love and doctrine has poluted the Church to a point She is no longer salt and light to the earth. Churches en masse are promotong false love, which in turn promotes immorality and a lack of a sensitive spiritual conscience.

What did Jesus say? White washed tombs. The more definitions, the more divisions. Read the Scriptures and you will find Jesus with the help of the Holy Spirit. Is that too difficult that we need to turn to Man for traditions and instructions?

How can you deny the very clear words of Jesus Christ? Don’t be the one who disbelieves. Study the early church fathers and what they believed about the Eucharist. John 6: 51-64 “51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum. On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?” Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you? Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you-they are full of the Spirit and life. Yet there are some of you who do not believe.”
