For those complaining: This is an advertisement for Consumer Reports. Were you really expecting that Consumer Reports would give away the results of their testing for free?
We're getting a 22 cubic bottom-freezer for our new house. We were going to buy a side-by-side, but we were limited to a 3X6 area. We'll also have to hook up a water line for the ice-maker inside the freezer drawer. They didn't have it plugged in at the store, but the lights looked they couldn't be replaced and the light compartment is very small so I'll assume it's LED. It has gallon shelves on the door.
We bought an Adora model from Home Depot 7 years ago..Side by side with ice and water thru the door...works great! Love the metallic gray finish and easy slide shelves. Model by GE...shopping for a new Dishwasher from GE for our remodel.
Well that didn't tell us any usable information. We would like to know results.Otherwise you only told us what you do for a living.Oh,and one thing you didn't test was most of all important to me is longevity.I have a Kenmore over 20 years old and she is still going strong.
Do not go by consumer reports I had a GE refrigerator for over twelve years. I was reading about it in your reports and you gave it a bad report so figure that out. You have to remember they are paid by the mfg. to get them to say good things about the product. I have had other consumer's agree with me.
I have Not heard anything from your consumer reports , what should I buy ??? It is a pity that Toyota does not make Refrigerators , because I would buy it right away !!! Too many brands too many problems and hard to decide what to buy ???
So many good comments: Kenmore doesn't mean squat, muzzle they don't make anything! CR has NEVER acknowledged this, so you need to do your research and look at the manufacturing codes on the back to decipher who made that Kenmore. We all love FD models nowadays, but it seems as if the fridge housed ice makers are more problematic,C than when they were in the freezer, like in a side by side. (We have hated Side by sides, but have had few problems with the ice makers in them. More use yields better results because they don't freeze up as much, as when the ice sits for days. We use crushed ice several times a day. WP complaints are mostly about the noise now, so getting a new ice box is a crap shoot. But, I think we'll go with WP anyway and get an extended warranty. Go with Costco, as their warranties are cheap and you can cover the first 5 years with the 2+3.
We need HONEST help. Purchased a Samsung Energy Star 4-Door Flex French Door. Not delivered yet. I came home and read the reviews. OH NO! Nearly everyone says ice maker is a nightmare, the service is THE WORST, parts not available will break down. Should I cancel? Senior Citizen
What are the findings on a Samsung french door refrigerator the one for $3000.00.......mine was beautiful rich with depth and space but failed and maintained 58 degrees after repairs. I told Home Depot their going to get it very gingerly on their front door so the warranty service people can fixit there......i was told I will be receiving a refund.......on a lighter note a friend of mine purchased her Kitchen Aid dishwasher solely on consumer reports and she had major problems and ended up with a new after months of disputing.
@walkabout16 G'day... Thanks for sending this. Decadence, Decadence, thy name be Consumerism. Lovely Product Placement at the Conclusion... It takes $5,000 to $10,000 worth of PV's & Batteries & Inverter to run a $1,700 Fridge. My Mother just upgraded her System. 60 Amps at 24 Volts on the Roof, & 4,000 A/Hr of Batteries. So, she got another Fridge. The problem appears to be the idea that Suburban Aspirations to "Normality" are acceptable... Rather than Delusional.
I bought a refrigerator ETB3200PE at 2014, but just one year, the compressor is made in china and branded Wanbao, have been destroyed! despite a five-year warranty, but still I am required to pay half of the price of the compressor, has three times the technician back and forth, but still remains damaged, the complaint Electrolux Indonesia, also did not help much
+lillskiten1337 because the actual review with the brans, models and comparisons are not for free, you have to pay for a subscription to their website and then you can access it.
they didnt test logivity. just know bottom freezer never last as long as top freezer...this is a fact. frigs these days dont last as long as the old days when tney last 10 p,us years....get an extended warranty and dont abuse ir frig.
The appliance industry is not in business to make you happy or sell you a good product at a reasonable price. The appliance industry is in business to make profits for its shareholders.
Consumer Reports is a big joke. I think they hired too many dumbed down technicians. Consumers do not care about what features the fridges have.. Consumers are more interested in reliability and the life cycle of the fridge. When CR produces its list "RATINGS" of whatever, they hide on a secondary page the reliability of the entire Brand. CR should show right beside each model the ..."REVIEWS" ... CR has no idea how each product will perform in the long run. Why not produce a listing for previous years model and forget about the latest current year models. Why not make a list of all the problems (summary from all reviews) . Consumer Reports management : - Their cheque is in the mail ...
