Hello Fred, lovely to see your work on You Tube - do you have more information on late Leslie Payne? Ive tried so hard to get his book titled, The Brotherhood, to no avail. Was he really the Krays accountant? Tracy
@@tracysgladrags4135 Would like to read that book. I know the Krays used him mercilessly. Paid the ‘Hat’ to kill him etc. Never knew him to be their accountant though? Interesting Tracy…👍
Just caught up with these vidz....Fred, You're the only Journalist I want to listen too....I really enjoyed this series and it was a great introduction to my Son who was interested in The Kray story....Thank you for your Insight
Hello Fred, welcome to RU-vid, I remember watching you, Bunty, Jack and Jon on How and found it informative. I really enjoyed your documentary on the Krays and talking to their contemporaries. I was only 11 in 69 but I remember hearing the names of the Krays, Jack the hat, Mad Frankie Frazer etc, I can't wait for more. Take care. How🤚
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. Where does the time go?! Will keep the stories coming as long as you're watching still. Many thanks. FD
Hello Fred it's Richard Sharpe from Sheffield I can remember when you worked in Yorkshire Television on Yorksport and Calendar you must have some great memories at YTV
I never would have guessed you had such an interesting connection with these people. I only know you as the best presenter of how (imo) 😁 great memories
Fred did an amazing job. I wish he'd done the audiobook narration entirely as I've listened to it many times. For me, the fascination isn't so much the crime. it's the sentence! I have no doubt if the twins had not reached the heights of political sway, they'd have probably received half the sentence they got! It seems to me that influential people were frightened of the Kray secrets even though the twins said they would never reveal what they knew. To me, they were political prisoners, and if you doubt it, ask why we don't see serial killers today get minimum 30years? I also don't believe the mainstream media regarding Charlie Kray, I believe they wanted the name Kray to die in jail.
Anyone who was about in those times , knows that the Krays were 2 small fish in a very big pond , and they didn't have a clue how to get money , other than threatening local pub and club owners for 50 quid a week , they were not gangsters , just local bullies , who didn't dare to go south because of the Richardsons or north because of the Nash's
