Reggie is right, too, about not realizing how much you're spending. I'll check my account balance and think, "What the fuck? Something isn't right. Am I getting double charged for shit or someone is using my account?" Then I open up my app and start scrolling through all my purchases and realize I just spent way more than I thought. Shit adds up a lot quicker than you think, especially when you have money and you're spending it without thinking.
That's what happens when you swipe a plastic use cash to buy your little bullshit things you buy and use your card to pay bills. Trust me I tried using my card like that and it didn't work out for me. I just use the card to pay bills
Most prominent entertainers never take interest in what their actual income is. Many are conned into accepting the the cars, jewelry, hotels, etc., and it becomes a drug. When actually the money they they generate is hundreds of times more than the things they are given. I recently saw a doc on Pfunk, and how many said George Clinton kept the title plied with drugs, and when they came off tour, they were handed a few hundred dollars in an envelope, and George had a ledger to show them how much coke they'd used. All the while he's living in a huge estate on Lake Michigan. George can't read or write music, and Gary Shider was with him from the beginning, and co-wrote, sang, produced, and performed on most of Pfunk's hits. When Gary died a few years ago, his wife had to hold a fundraiser.
Yeah I really felt that one, because I order bank statements 3 or 4 times a year just because I don't be believing I spent so much and I'm m always wrong, but still do it lol..
@Say what Nope how can you rob someone for something that was never theirs? Publishing is property of the label most of the time, especially back then.
Reggie speaking facts.. Deathrow spent SOOOO much on its artists regardless of whether they released an album or not. DANNY BOY, NATE DOGG, LADY OF RAGE etc.. many many artists were getting advances and looked after.. whether they were on the books or not is something else.. cos I cant tell u whether all the money that was being advanced to artists was OFFICALLY from Deathrow or Interscope (legit or street money etc.) Cos money was being spent on artists left right and centre...
He would give turkeys out every thanksgiving, toys for kids every Easter, take kids on a bus to see there fathers in prison on fathers day , give a luxury dinner wirh performances from celebrity's for single mothers on mothers day etc.
@@lancejackson584 who is perfect ? The difference with suge and these other celebrities is suge is up front and real he speaks his mind . All these other celebrities care what other people think . Like people think puff is some positive mogul lol puff has had more gabsgter shit done than nearly anyone in the industry lol
The funny about Reggie being brought into Death Row by Suge is that, Suge was never a blood, but he brought many of them into the company. Ig got to the point where he wasn't paying them properly, and he couldn't control them, so he had to hire off duty cops to protect him and keep the peace. Also, there were many Crips in the building too. The brother had a great thing going and just blew it. I had gangster in my family, and there weren't many good endings. It was either death, or jail.
For y’all saying Suge only paid for Snoop’s lawyer because it serves as a benefit to Suge well then how do you explain Suge also paying for snoop’s body guard to also be represented?
The cases had to be together because if he didn’t pay for the friend and the body guards defense if they get convicted then snoops conviction would follow
the interview guy must not know how all them mainstream artist was getting pennies per album sold back then....but on DeathRow they all got to live it up before they made the money
@@jack604 pennies bro..trust me..watch a bio about any of em...watch TLC behind the music...any advance they get up front is a loan to be paid back first along with studio time, food transportation, promotion and anything that went for making the album is all paid back first before they even get there $0.00.0001 or whatever.....Artist independent selling out the trunk made more money...getting 10 a cd back then you dint have to sell as much to be rich..meanwhile everyone thinks the well known artist were rich but it was all a show, promotion and music videos paid for by the label to promote the album...only few to make money had to own there publishing or somebody like Master P that got a distribution deal..but he was rich even before that selling out the trunk..same with Cash Money they was rich for years before the world knew them..here in Louisiana we been on cash money since the 90s..
@@747REDFELLA1 let's agree to disagree because he said when he went to no limit he was bought a house and a car. Which means that nigga was excited to have that. Don't think he'd highlight that in that way if it's things he was already having and rolling with like that.
It's a common thing with a lot of people. No matter how much someone is paid, they always think they deserve more. That could be a reason why Snoop could have all these houses, get $4-5 million advance for a murder trial, $1 million separation deal, plus all the free studio time and perks, and STILL walk around acting like he never got paid on Death Row (or never got what he "deserved").
The oldest game In the entertainment business is to give artist THINGS, and then when they ask about money, the ledger is shown to them where they were given, homes, cars, hotels, jewelry, studio time, etc., but those things hardly are ever near what their actual earnings should be. There have been numerous cases where artists have gotten lawyers, who have gotten forensic accountants, and then they received millions of dollars in unpaid royalties. It's happened with companies owned by white and black executives.
Absolutely. What Reggie's describing here are advances and glorified monthly allowances. It sounds almost charity-like. What were the publishing deals back then? Royalties? Those are the questions. Reggie raises the fact that Nate Dogg never releases an album on Death Row, but his contributions to the Chronic, Doggystyle, Dogg Food, All Eyez on Me and the multi platinum soundtracks had to be worth way more than the 400k it cost to cover his legal expenses. Suge was basically "gifting" these artists legal fees, houses and cars with their own money.
Dre brung snoop to DR. Suge looked out for snoop cuz of them projected sales. So he needed him to stay out to make them more money. Suge pacified his artist instead of teaching them the game. Plus suge was taking more then he was giving. Karma is the reason he's in prison.
Real talk..I said the same thing...Snoop owed Suge to pay his lawyer fees or something when Suge was going through his case...Just on what Suge did for Snoop on his murder trial
maybe true but do you think Suge didnt make a lot of money after that case? they made a short film called Murder was the case, a soundtrack, Snoop performing it at the VMAs, and that incident helped sell more records and boost up their image. So yeah he helped snoop with the trial but he was making a lot in return. consider it an investment. The Brooklyn nets gave Durant a max contract even though he blew out his Achilles and will be out the entire season, but in the long run it's worth it
This dude is on Snoop's nutz, just like his uninformed fan boys. Reg is always going to keep everything 💯. If Suge wouldn't have helped him out, there wouldn't be a Snoop.
He's been even kill the whole time I'm learning hearing awhole lot more about Death Row and Snoop Dogg now that I'm grown was a kid back then in the 1990's. Shout Out To Reggie Wright Jr. Suge Kept Dr.Dre Snoop And Nate Dogg From Going To Prison. 💰 Make The 🌎 Go Round.
Yeah, that is messed up,,Suge did somethings to help out these guys on Death Row,,all the goodtimes an money Suge spent for them,,,send the man something on his Books,,at end of the day,,Suge helped out an looked out for u guys on DEATH ROW!
Lmao. Reggie, the passive aggressive King. He said that he wasn't going to be like that this interview but every clip he has and I am here for all of it.... Lol You can tell that this dude was the coolest cop one day but every time he has a situation in his life, he comes to shake you down... Lmao
Quiet as kept Snoop was the reason the Chronic did what it did. He was not only featured on the two biggest singles from that album but also wrote them
Reggie is a loser all the people he talks about are healthy wealthy and winning in life Reggie should only concern himself with learning to Breathe correctly
Coolio on Tommy Boy Records- Az i Walk 🚶♂️ thru the Valley of the Shadows of death i took a look at my life & realize theres nothin left. Didn't live half as good on Tommy Boy Records 😅 So much for "Gangsters Paradise"
Snoop a bitch for that man...if a nigga get me off of a murder case I'm staying 4 life!........ just being real .....damn snoop....u a bitch fir that bro.......the man saved yo ass
exactly, recouping an advance doesnt have nothing to do with publishing or royalities...unless you sign over your publishing you still are entiled to it..its up to the artist to get a lawer and get it straight
Suge was, is and always will be a legend. He made mistakes, but let's not take away the fact that he paved the way guys like Snoop to still be relevant to this day. So yeah, Snoop should look back to before the beef started. realize he could have been the one serving time for murder.
Reggie naming shit that wasn't in Snoop's name, the cars houses and all that other shit. Then he want to name studio time.lol. Death Row had in house production so who were they paying the studio time to? Can am? Because they didn't have to pay producers. Snoop didn't own his publishing on death row, it was owned by aint nuttin going on but fucking publishing. Frank Alexander said Snoop and Pac allowance was $5,000 a month not $50,000.
nah everyone knew Snoop was a gold mine after Chronic dropped, Suge and interscope had no choice but to put out the money for the murder case to protect their investment, Doggystyle was in motion at that point and everyone even Jimmy Irvene knew the album was a winner.
He right all these other rappers go to jail not even for murder and get no help for lawyers or even money’s on they books, prime example 2Pac,Bobby smurder, casssanova,Shyne,R.Kelly I can go on he right Snoop owe Suge his life I don’t care how it ended with him and the record label it could be no snoop if Suge don’t put up that bread! And don’t say Dre because he didn’t even come to court for snoop or show up to a court date to show support
Honestly Snoop started getting money wen he linked up with Master P teaching Snoop how to market himself and the business side of thangs...ppl doesn't talk about that tho.
Reggie capping himself. So death row should have shown them facts in black and white.. Regg remembers alot , Regg are you looking out for Suge now or still helping him
What went wrong with Suge Knight he should have just gave them money after it was turned in but it was a new company and treating everybody like your friends doesn't always work
